The high pull rate of Meddling Mages is a meta commentary on how the card is stopping you from getting something better in your VIP box.
Although I did notice in this video that every meddling mage had a mythic with it, but then again every pack but 1 had a showcase mythic.
I think the showcase commons and uncommons kind of ruined this product for me since they have relatively high pull rates. Should have just had a common or uncommon showcase slot in addition to the rare and mythic slots. Even though opening more packs ups your chances, I can't afford to buy 3 boxes!

Is meddling mage that bad of a card? I'm kind of a kitchen table player, but this feels like a fairly decent card. That being said, in an extanded art slot of a 100 dollar booster, I get that it might annoy some people. I had one in the only pack I opened but didn't bother too much about it.
@@vincentperon2950 it is decent. But his reaction to it is starting to mimic his reactions to desolate lighthouse from past openings. It's a great card, but I think I comparison to the hits he's looking for it's fitting the "oh not again!" vibe. 😂

I've opened 3 vip packs and I have 2 mana crypts

So close to being the legendary patron that gets no swords in the mythics, but one swung in anyway. But damn, 15 mythics in 16 packs. That's amazing.

Wow, 15/16 possible mythics on the box toppers is crazy good. There seemed to be mostly bulk rares on the regular foil cards, but that still may have been the best opening so far.

Record breaking case for both mythics and non-rares! 15 mythic and 4 non-rare showcase cards. Previously 12 mythic and 6 non-rare showcase cards was the record.
For some reason the pulls from the VIP boxes are not very exciting.
I think its because they are lower in number than most booster boxes. The swing for hit and miss is really broad.
Back in the summer when these came out I needed that force of will card. Opened 9 VIP's and got one, still today remains my favorite art on a magic card. I ordered the print and playmat directly from the artist as well.
Just buy the damn card!

I opened a pack, but got hosed. Got one of those common Force cards. Sold it cheap to a friend, didn't want to look at it anymore.

Cards like force of will make me really dislike this product. Like come on, when you pull that piece of junk it's just a big slap in the face by wizards.
It is FoW or bust. Frankly, not getting more than $100 a pack in value makes it a bad product. Maybe not long-term, but for right now, it's definitely an underwhelming product.

I haven't played magic in a while. So side question. The cards look pretty nice - are all modern cards foils now? or is this a special masters thing? Also is card quality better? I know a few years ago WTC cards were warping and stuff before even being opened. So looks like that issue is solved.

The product is made by a company called Wizards of the Coast. Wizards of the Coast is owned by Hasbro, and they are Hasbro's bitch. Hasbro, like any big company, cares only about the bottom line. So they tell Wizards of the Coast to nickel and dime the playerbase as much as possible, and Wizards of the Coast, like the good little lapdogs they are, do it.

I opened what I believed to be the worst possible double masters regular booster box but it turns out it was worth $350 tcgplayer low and my order was a week late. It's still profitable somehow. Ty Avacyn box topper lol.
