Weird Fact- Many years ago I was attending a feline convention. (Feline behavioral consultant, hence my attendance.)
By chance I met the last surviving ‘Spot’ and even trainer fully admitted she was “surly”. To put it kindly.
As were the other littermates/parents/grandparents that were used, depending on what was needed for a scene.
If more than one was on set, they had to go to great lengths to insure none crossed the others path.
(Much like ‘Eddy’ from ‘Frazier’. The bulk of the scenes involved a grandfather, father, and son who looked so much alike they too were easily switched out without the audience noticing. All three hated each other so much their trainers had to fully clean that one chair. Because if one smelled the other, that scene wasn’t happening that day. They have a hilarious backstory and the actors can be found on TH-cam telling everyone what a nightmare they were at times. 🐶😻🤣)

I remember reading about a scientific study done in Japan about the numerative abilities of different animals. Basically it proved that just about all animals have the ability to count at least a bit. They tried dogs and birds and mice and even fish using the standard reward type experiments to observe behaviour. When the study was released the head scientist was asked about a rather glaring omission from the list "Why no mention of cats and their ability to count?" "Well" said the scientist "although we had many cats put forward by their owners and we made many attempts at it none of the cats showed any interest in any of our experiments whatsoever and we couldn't gather enough data to draw any findings." He did go on to say that although testing cats had been a flop the team were confident that the cats could in fact count, they just couldn't be bothered to.

I didn’t like how the writers sometimes argued that Data was sentient, but Spot wasn’t. That seemed to undermine their connection. The idea (at least from what I presumed) behind their relationship is that Data longs to be human, but enjoys the company of the one animal that is not the least bit impressed by humans. Cats would not care if humans took them through a worm hole, or Warp-10, or that they found cosmic gods. Cats have more undeniable personality than any other animal and yet when it came down to it, the writers claimed cats weren’t sentient but Data was. Very disappointing choice.

Why Spiner was never asked to host SNL is the biggest Crime in Acting and Comedic History.

I find it funny that the reason Spot came to be was because there were a bunch of feral cats that lived around the lot (lots of people to feed them, as well as dumpsters to forage from, mice/rats as often as food), and some would wander on to the set (even some feral cats will get acquainted with humans enough to let the person pet them, if not others). Spot was just one such cat, friendly enough (see; not afraid enough of humans) to let them shoot with him

@plebpleb holy smokes, that may well be the most atrocious non funny acting I've ever seen. I've seen actors who couldn't stand each other show more chemistry between their characters, the jokes are meh, and the running around and yelling numbers scream amateur hour, not military efficiency. And that's just in the part of the one clip I saw before I closed the app. Sorbo's face isn't very special, either, so the eye candy part is hidden under the biker wannabe uniform.

They did brain scans of dogs whose owners left for work at the same time everyday. The dogs showed depression and it increased over 24 hours.
They did the same with cats. Absolutely no difference. The cats literally didn’t give a damn. They don’t form bonds with their owners. You could be replaced by another human tomorrow and cats wouldn’t spend five minutes being upset.

Cats vary greatly on this. I have one feline who clearly misses me when I am out of town, & another very friendly one who basically likes every human equally. But I wouldn't consider a cat (or human) getting depressed anytime I wasn't around as being a good sign for our emotional bond. I would consider it a sign of severely unhealthy dependency.

Cats are just able to handle isolation much better, dogs are evolved from pack animals they rarely do well alone. They still grow emotional attachments. I remember my sister moved out of our family home, went away for a while, when she came back to visit the cat ran towards her like she was an old beloved friend. I knew then that cats most definitely do form emotional bonds with their owners, but in a different way to dogs.

Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses.
I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations,
A singular development of cat communications
That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate affection.
    A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
You would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.
And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion,
It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.
O Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display
Connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array.

I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

I give you my personal guarantee that 100% of the time, without fail, if you touch her tail and she doesn't want you to, she'll let you know. With an annoyed/surprised meow at first touch then turning into a semi-angry meow before finally swiping at your hand, claws open. This does not, however, include petting. If you pet from the head to the tail, she'll be ok as long as you don't linger.

Mr. Brent spider. I just wanted to let you know that I have a little kitten myself my mother. And I both share of her. She’s about seven or eight months old. And right now she’s going through a very bratty stage. For instance I live in a section 8 housing apartment it’s subsidized for handicap people. She was in the bathroom with me recently and there’s an emergency pull cord you have to pull in the event if you fall or get hurt. I specifically told my kitten not to pull the string what does she do. She does the complete opposite when I said no. She pulled in anyway. If spot was a terrible actor.. Then I bet she was a little brat. I’d like to. Tell you that I think Lieutenant Commander data was a wonderful character that you portrayed. My most favorite episode out of all of them when it came to #DATA. Was measure of a man and it dealt with peoples rights were more like #DATA‘s rights. I wish I could’ve served as your advocate or something. You know as far as #DATA is concerned. Just for the heck of it. I think it would’ve been fun. If I was dressed up in a Starfleet uniform if I was #DATA‘s. Representative I would’ve backed him up 100%#DATA had some very redeeming qualities that I had a great deal of respect for. Not to mention he was a hell of a Starfleet officer. And a best friend to all of the crew. You can’t get any better than that

1 constant performance for the actors at these things is they have to repeat the same stories over and over and over and over and over again. 20 years ago, 10 years ago 5 years ago 1 year ago to present, the same answers to the same questions. The responses seldom vary. It is sad. Can go to 1 comic con/convention or watch 1 of these clips and you know in the next one, you will see the same things over and over again.
