These are the question i never knew i needed to know
depends on the enemys' build. If youre using an early game hero, it is prefered to buy BoD. If the enemy is having tons of defense (e.g blade armor antique cuirass etc.) just buy the gun. Penetration and pure phys damage. Both are different in terms of usage.

Most of the enemies in Early game doesn't have defense item so when u equipped malefic roar as first item its passive is almost useless and you'll get lower damage

It's usually more effective in Mythic games since most enemies have Tanks
Let me be honest about these tests, first thing is they're chance based.. When you see Berserker's Fury it's all chances because getting a crit hit and NOT getting a crit hit matters
Havint just bod or malefic would be good (Could include corrosion to make it quicker) since even windtalker has that 10% crit
@no the thing is one item alone might be better than another, but not when combined with other items from the set.
Lesley would just use 5x BoD (1 Slot for boots) if that was the case. However 5xBoD is far less damage than
2xBoD + EB + BH + BF (especially on the first shot)
Or even 3xBoD + EB + BF
Because single item BoD is the best for damage, but not in every slot when you combine abilities.
I'm very sure you didn't notice that miya passive in the 1st clip was already full that shows you how much better malefic is cuz it did more damage when the passive was not full

They keep buffing So many Marksmans even including miya and Layla, but Clint remains the same as it was. I don't know if you'll ever see this comment, but I just wish someday they'll buff him and bring back the old clint because most marksmans are too strong nowadays I often find hard to win the lane with clint especially when the enemy tanks keep babysitting them. :(

Note this: for lesley don't buy malefic roar even if enemy has high physical defense, just buy 2 blade of despair , it can penetrate more than malefic roar. I have seen many player took malefic roar in lesley.. Just take this build(boots+berserker + blade of heptasis+endless battle + 2 blade of despair).
You do realize that Lesley can't have any fixed pen. So BOH is more useless than melafic roar.
At least melafic roar is somewhat useful if opponent build HP iteam, especially twilight armor. Then it would boost basic attack( except lethal shot) while BOH is only useful for the first shot of a gank.
You can use her passive 4 times in 2 seconds.@@deadman873

Don't forget that she was using crit builds, an RNG on those crit hits also matters.

Not to mention moonlight shadow damage is irratic and a level up on the hero by default increases miyas moonlight shadows dmg.
Blades of Despair is best for heroes that have internal skills like Heal, Shield, or True Damage because they drastically improve with raw attributes;
while Malefic Roar is best for heroes that don't have those skills but rely on Attack Speed, HP Percentage Damage, Burst Damage, or Critical Damage.

@@lysothea897 Yeah, it's based on anybody's choice, although not wise for all heroes. Like I said, if the hero doesn't have internal skills like heal, shield, or true damage, they don't need Malefic Roar. Or should I say, it's dumb to equip Lesley with Malefic Roar in that sense. 🤣
Even though she's feared because of her critical damage, she has true damage, she doesn't need penetration effect from Malefic Roar.
But there are heroes like Beatrix that can equip both items because she's a burst type, and she also doesn't have internal skills or true damage.

It's because each has its own roles:
Blade of despair: highest physical damage
Built to kill marksmans and mages
Adds 50% damage when enemy health drops at 50% for 2 seconds, also takes effect before damage is dealt
Malefic roar: highest physical penetration
Built to kill fighters and tanks
Reduces 35% ~ 55% of enemy defense
Fatal to high physical def heroes
The fact that many MLBB players didn't even know how to pair items in the game makes me feel sorry for them. Even in Mythical Glory(even in 1k above), players sucks at pairing the right item. IMO, without a doubt, BOD for higher physical attack and Malefic Roar is for penetration. If you combine the two it is much better. Kazuki, I suggest you make short videos instead of comparing them, you should make a pairing item. It's better than comparing. Because it may result in a bad habit of buying the same item without even knowing the effect. This is my suggestion only.

Melific roar is good at mm that use type of attack speed but BOD is good at high damage mm like lesly ,Brody and Clint

This depends on crit chance though, try building again with 4x berserker that comes with 100% crit chance.

It actually depends on the damage scaling of your hero. But Malefic Roar is a good counter against enemies who buy a lot of physical defense items.

Malefic roar is basically melting every tank rn,
I once lost a bet in a 1v1 thinking 2 blade armor would be untouchable against a critical build MM, it is in the early game, then came a malefic roar and suddenly I went from a tanky boy to a squishy target practice.
there should be no crit added in testing these because a continuous crit hit has a big difference against normal hits

Like I always said Cuirass is counter for High burst damage enemies, Blade Armour to counter Reap/critical damage enemies and Ice Dominance against High attack speed + Lifesteal enemies like MIYA and moskov.

Even with low physical defense, malefic roar is still better because of negative def.
I don't really calculate, I just trust my guts and basic info on what item to counter the enemy heroes. a lot of us do this.
You have also consider the crit chance of that attack , we cant see how many crit attacks proc

Bod is for Physical Damage and Melefic roar is penetration for example if enemy take Physical defense and if u take Melefic roar it's good

Malefic roar, item with penetrate passive, then blade of despair for physical damage, so there are big difference there
Change the berserker and windtalker with BoD and DHS, it's much better. We all know that Blade Armor is against Critical Damage, so go with pure damage. So if your item is Windtalker and Berserker BoD can't Help much since its pure damage with Critical damage. Whereas if you use Windtalker and Berserker with Malefic Roar could boost your damage since Malefic has physical penetration.

The rule is, buy Malefic Roar if the enemies have 2 or more heroes with 100+ Phys Def or if the enemy carry has 100+ Phys Def. Otherwise you will do more damage with BoD
Unless you deal true dmg or have some other mechanic like attack power = shield
but the passive of blade of despair is really good, espcially for assassins

there's also a level difference the first one with malefic roar you are level 2 but with BoD you're level 3
you forget BoD has its passive proc when the hp is low building blade armor adds no hp so procing that passive takes time
Dont put crit chance item, then compare it. The second one has many crit chances made than the first.
Malafic roar bursts the defence... Meanwhile BOD gives high physical attack that is why malagic roar is a better choice

Don't forget that BoD's true strength comes from it's passive which deals more damage with enemy heroes with low hp
But BOD is good for heroes with better physical scaling skills because of the huge phy atk it gives
Also, need to know that you bought critical chance items, you cant differentiate these items knowing that the odds of getting critical hits are not the same and just based with chances.
