Oh my… when my father was passing from dementia in late 2020 he would hold hands with my sister, mom and myself and we would pray the Lord’s Prayer multiple times a day. It brings so much comfort during times of trouble. 🙏🏽♥️
❤❤The theological importance is powerful. As I am African American and Lutheran the early African Ethiopian church connect with Martin Luther give an African story connected , an ancient Christian African connection that is just fascinating.
This was such a blessing to hear; thank you! You stated that we don't have an indicator for our need for the Word like we do for food, our growling stomach. But perhaps Paul's thorn in the flesh, which you PW brought up, may have some use here. Paul prayed 3x that "This thorn in the flesh" would be removed. 3x the Lord said "My grace is sufficient for you; for My power is made perfect in weakness". Note here: God did not say, "No". This is important for theological reasons. What God did say reveals more about Paul's petition. Paul may have been asking God to take this thorn from him because he could do so much more for God, or because he will be more effective in other ways, or just to be a better man of God... God's answer reveals that it is Only His Grace that is our sufficiency. Whether the Lord takes it away or not is not the issue; the issue is what is it that is sufficient for you. This thorn was a bit of an indicator for his need for the Word. Paul then would rather be weak that the power of God be strong. This weakness was a hunger pang, of sorts, to keep him aware of his need for what is truly the satisfying thing. So you could see our weaknesses that seem to say "Your not a good enough Christian because of..." are an indicator to our need for the sufficiency found in God's grace alone. He may or may not take such a thorn away; whether he does or not the answer is the same it's his grace that is sufficient for you.
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Heb. 4:16. Seems like we’re encouraged to come before our loving Heavenly Father with a sense of belonging rather than a sense of dread and expectation of being dismissed or decapitated.
WOW! I just started your Devotional Challenge yesterday, and I found this video in your collection . There is so much here, and I feel it. Thank you again for your enthusiasm and your willingness to teach and share with your brothers and sisters all that you know. 3.14.20, listened again and took notes. This has to make an appearance at my small group bible study!
I agree with you that the Lord's Prayer is vital in knowing who we are and who God is. Here are some of my understandings. God is not on earth but in heaven. The kingdom of heaven is within us but we are not of the world. We never left heaven but we think we have until we go through the process of rebirth. We let go of the world through forgiveness. Blame, guilt, fear and death hold us to the world. See Shakespeare's " The quality of mercy." We can ask for whatever we want as long as it's God's will. So to ask properly we listen to God before we ask. That unites us with heaven and God. We already have what we need. God already gives us all we ever need like the lilies do. If we don't ask for God's will first, we will think we are lacking. Conscience is always reunited with God through forgiveness. Death is sacrifice. Forgiveness is the way home, salvation, not sacrifice. Matt 12.7 If you had known what these words mean, “I desire mercy, not sacrifice,” you would not have condemned the innocent. Forgiveness reunites us with our creation which was and is innocent.
God is merciful and forgiving and full of love, I dont think he gets angry at people for praying as long as they try to follow his laws, we are humans and we are imperfect, we are all sinners and God Almighty is perfect, we can never be a god or anywhere near. Only God Almighty is perfect Alleilua
Forgive us our trespasses AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US This also says, then, 'if I don't forgive others, don't You, Oh LORD, forgive me.' If God is forgiving you the same way you forgive others, what does His forgiveness look like, mirroring you. In other words, WHAT ARE YOU DOING, and will what you're doing result in Christ blessing or punishing you? Connect it to Matthew 18:21-35.
The kingdom of God or the kingdom of Heaven is on Earth, it is the Holy Spirit, the Kings domain, Romans 14:17, The Lord's prayer is prophecy, Jesus set up the disciples to usher in the Holy Spirit at Pentecost with their words, on Earth as it is in heaven, just like the speaking forth prophecy of Isaiah 63, Rend the heavens and come down, a valent action tearing open the heavens was 400 years before the caring open of the heavens and Holy Spirit descended on Jesus like a dove at his baptism in the Jordan by John the Baptiser

Pastor W., that was tremendous! I especially loved the part about the "ear stomach." Keep up the good work, brother in Christ!

That Fiji story 😂❤❤

That we all could have this kind of "amnesia awakening" regularly - remembering Whose we truly are no matter what the rest of the world feeds us.
When is Jesus coming pastor?

You guys should wear the brown scapular, it can save you from hellfire
Things don’t keep us from hell. Only having Jesus in our hearts and keeping His Commandments! Not any man made rules from the RCC!
