I have a copy of Holly and Ivy!!! It's very old. When my granddaughter was old enough to listen and understand, I read it to her. It became a favorite for her immediately! She is now 18 and we read it together every Christmas time! I love Susan Branch! She is from my home state Massachusetts. Beautiful Island off the coast, Martha's Vineyard. Thanks for more recommendations😊
While not necessarily cozy (or festive), I'll be embarking on my decennial re-reading of "The Deptford Trilogy" by Robertson Davies. Happy Holidays, Miranda.
I found a copy of Christmas at Nettleford in the summer of 2020 and saved it for one of my Christmas reads. Now it will be one that's read each year. I've never seen 'Christmas with Anne' and I thought I knew all L. M. Montgomery's work. I will now be looking for a copy!
I love the moose on your sweater! I have ordered Noel Streatfeild's Christmas stories for this year, and I'm so excited. I wish P.G. Wodehouse had written more Christmas stories too.
Such a great variety of books and all cozy and comforting!!.Thank you very much for doing these fantastic videos, I am planning long reading evenings with many of these suggestions, beginning with Winter Solstice , in german translated just as Wintersonne (winter's sun).Rosamunde Pilcher is very loved here.
A lovely selection Miranda! I see some of my favourites from childhood in here :) I have added that lovely penguin edition of Louisa May Alcott stories to my basket ready for pay day!
Lovely recommendations, so many I haven’t heard of before and I’m quite excited to read them. One I have read and loved is Winter solstice. I read it years ago, and it was the first Rosamunde Pilcher I read, and then I quickly tried to catch up with her earlier books. I fell in love with her writing right away. Thank you Miranda for sharing your books with us.
Hi Miranda. This was another very enjoyable video. I would love to add some of these Christmas books to my collection. I read Winter Solstice many years ago and absolutely loved it. Rosamunde Pilcher is one of my very favorite authors. I am excited you have chosen it for your December book club and I am planning to join you and your mom in rereading this wonderful book. Your videos are so very calming for me as I did not get the news I was hoping for from the doctor on Tuesday, so reading and your festive recommendations really help. Take care......Crystal.
Yay to Winter Solstice. I love Rosamunde Pilcher so much too. This book is such a lovely winter read (but I always wish that she wrote a more detailed Christmas scene at the end!). I'll definitely do a reread and see you for the book club video.
Those Truman Capote stories are just so beautifully written. That collection is my favorite Christmas read. Thank you for such a wonderful variety. I feel like a kid in a candy store not knowing which Miranda book to treat myself to next.
Lovely, Chrismas-y video! I loved it! I'm super excited to read Winter Solstice again (I may listen on audiobook this time!) and really looking forward to the P.G. Wodehouse 'Jeeves and the Yuletide Spirit' - I've never read any of his books and hoping that I love them :D Thank you for all of the fantastic suggestions, Miranda! Some of them are already on my TBR list. I only wish the Christmas season had 2 Decembers so I could read twice as many books! I might have to start in early November next year...lol! Many warm and joyful hugs! (P.S. Love your sweater!) xoxo :D
Hello Miranda, thank you for this video......I really was SO HAPPY to see it....once I was able to get off my feet today and get a break, it was the treat I needed...”The Story of Holly and Ivy” sounds Perfect 🥰. I started “Winter Solstice” on Saturday (November 21st) and the tragedy in the beginning almost made me too sad to read on (whew!! it was a big shock so early in) but Rosamunde Pilcher pushes you past the pain in her books so beautifully and you know what after reading “Coming Home” which was probably one of the biggest Novel I’ve ever read...I should breeze through “Winter Solstice” I remember from the last “Tea and Tattle” episode that You and Donna will be celebrating Thanksgiving...”Happy Thanksgiving, to You and Donna” 🥰🥰
Thank you so much, Kiki! We did indeed have a lovely Thanksgiving 😊 Yes, the start of Winter Solstice is a bit of a shocker!! And definitely, Coming Home is a quite a bit longer, so I'm sure you'll get through WS in no time. Thanks so much as always for your lovely comments! xxx
Your video has provided its own Calm at Christmas! I just checked my library system and saw a copy of "Winter Solstice" is available and will be calling them after Thanksgiving to arrange a curbside pickup.
What a great and varied selection. I was interested to hear what you had to say about Miss Plum & Miss Penny, it’s been on my wish list for a while, it will definitely be moving onto my to be purchased list!
Hi Miranda, I've been looking forward to part 2 and thoroughly enjoyed browsing through your recommendations with you. Lots of wonderful reads including your December book choice and I am really looking forward to joining you and Donna reading Winter Solstice. Enjoy the start of Advent and stay safe, Teresa 🌲📚❤️
If you enjoy Rumer Godden then one of my absolute favourite Christmas reads is Rungli-Rungliot which is the true story of her time in the Himalayas wondering if Christmas would happen for her children. There’s a decent copy on abebooks for £18 ...
So many lovely, wonderful books here, Miranda! I ordered 'High Rising' at the weekend and I cannot wait to get all cosy and delve into it; the story sounds perfect for this time of year. Also, that Rumer Godden cover is so pretty. Thank you for another round of perfectly cosy Christmas reads!
Thank you Miranda! Winter Solstice is one of my all time favourites. I have read it so many times so wasn’t going to read it this year. However, as you are doing it for your book club, I have just started reading it again and, as always, am loving it. Following your recommendation of Angela Thirkell, I’ve just finished High Rising which I really enjoyed. I’m looking forward to reading more of her books. By the way, your nails are beautiful - love the Christmas red! ❤️
Thank you very much; I do enjoy a festive polish this time of year 😀 So glad you enjoyed your first Angela Thirkell and are joining us in a reread of Winter Solstice xxx
Hi Miranda!!! I really enjoy watching your videos!!! You give us such great recommendations....gorgeous books!!! Thank you so much!!! Happy Christmas!!!
Thank you for the recommendations! I have just finished "Murder Most Festive: A Christmas Mystery" by Ada Moncrieff and really enjoyed it. It is a cosy Christmas manor house mystery, in the style of the British library crime classics, but much better.
Another great video, Miranda, and I'm really glad you are highlighting bookshop.org, I think it is a wonderful initiative. Thank you for all the lovely recommendations!
Absolutely loved this video:) I purchased several wonderful books from your previous Christmas recommendations video which I look forward to curling up with over the festive season, and I've put several of the ones mentioned in this video on my wishlist! So many cosy charming books, quite a few of which I haven't heard of before, I'm spoilt for choice lol!
Hello, this is a rather late comment, though just within the Christmas season! I've had time to enjoy catching up with your vlogs. Thanks for so many great suggestions. I wondered if you have read Castaway Christmas, yet? I came across a second hand copy last year, never having heard of it before. It was one of my favourite festive reads that year and I have just re-read it. So well-written and it's gripping, too. The children characters have to deal with a whole series of adverse situations and they are surprisingly resourceful and inventive. Lots of enjoyable descriptions of the clothes that they wear - being the late 60s, quite a lot of corduroy (never goes out of fashion!), and a lovely long list of the contents of a food parcel. I thought it was an unexpected treat, and hope you did, too.
I just watched this and I want so many of those books. I do not think I’ll get them all but maybe three or four. Thank you so much!!! Are you and your mom going to celebrate Thanksgiving? I know you lived in the US. If you do Happy Thanksgiving to both of you!!! ❤️🦃
Once again such a wonderful episode of your Christmas recommendations, Miranda. Next on my tbr list is „Miss Plum and Miss Penny“ and then I might read „High Rising“ or maybe „Christmas at High Rising.“ I adore all the short story collections and cosy crime stories you mentioned. Can‘t wait to start reading... xxx
Miranda, thank you for all the wonderful recommendations. Truman Capote’s A Christmas Memory was the very first piece by him that I ever read and I’ve been hooked ever since. He was incredibly talented, and wow, does that little story pack a punch! Like you, I cannot read it without crying my eyes out! Best wishes from the west of Ireland xx

So many great books! I love Beth’s Calm Christmas too, I actually interviewed her last year for the podcast and she is so lovely! X
So many lovely books. I was bummed that the ones I'm most interested aren't available at my library. I'll have to go hunting.
Lovely Christmas book recommendations.
Glad you like them! Thank you!

That is the eternal dilemma 😃 📚
