Taylor is one of the very few female standup comics that I truly like. For whatever reason, women seem to be better at doing skit/movie comedy or group comedy than solo standup. Taylor is a unicorn.
I’ve been a fan of Taylor’s since her first special or a little bit before that. Totally enjoyed watching her develop her career. After Midnight is growing on me. The wardrobe variety is amazing.
What is not to love? Watch her stand up and her social media! She is a walking red flag and then some. I am a fan and she is brilliant; great comedian, she would be an awful significant other.
At 2:00, Conan maintains, "I think limitations are great; limitations are underrated." As a Harvard grad, I'm guessing he remembers the 200-year-old Wordsworth meta-sonnet: Nuns fret not at their convent’s narrow room; And hermits are contented with their cells; And students with their pensive citadels; Maids at the wheel, the weaver at his loom, Sit blithe and happy; bees that soar for bloom, High as the highest Peak of Furness-fells, Will murmur by the hour in foxglove bells: In truth the prison, into which we doom Ourselves, no prison is: and hence for me, In sundry moods, ’twas pastime to be bound Within the Sonnet’s scanty plot of ground; Pleased if some Souls (for such there needs must be) Who have felt the weight of too much liberty, Should find brief solace there, as I have found. 14 lines of strict iambic pentameter, apt for nuns and comics alike. I haven't read all the comments. I apologize if someone has already shared this observation.
"I've done churches, I've done corporates, I've done clubs, I've done colleges... I have done cruise ships" And Conan. Basically, as long as it starts with a C, Taylor is IN.
1:30 Taylor: "It was maybe the first moment that I felt like, oh, I might be a real comedian." Conan: "Right." * thinking * "I've been on that show literally its entire life span... when do _I_ become a real comedian?"
Walking around a cruise ship around 4 in the morning is kind of a surreal experience. I do it at least once during every cruise I'm on. It's just you and a few maintenance workers, and the deep black of the sky and ocean.
taylor is one of the few female comedians i find bearable. sure there are sex and relationship jokes, but they are not all consuming like most female comedians.
Taylor's awesome. Conan is right in that limitations in the beginning can be really good for comics so they don't take shortcuts and learn to be smart and funny. Nothing worse when the only thing a comic can do is a cheap laugh based on an F-bomb. Don't get me wrong, nothing bad about a good swear joke, but all too often it's crutch for a weak mind. Taylor's not weak, her humor, clean or not is fabulous (although not her talk show).
Taylor is really funny, seems really genuine, and is also very cute. Hard combination to beat. P.S. I spent a few years performing standup. Loved it, got good responses, and eventually realized I wasn’t willing to do everything it typically takes to be successful at it as a career, so I stopped. I may or may not ever go on a comedy stage again, but if I do, it will strictly be for the fun of entertaining people, with no intention of making a career of it.
@@rhanlon70 Try reading Steve Hoffstetter’s book “Follow your Dream (Unless Your Dream Is Stupid)”, or ask touring comedians how much work it takes, the travel, hardships on relationships, and generally low pay…. Sure, a few get lucky and get noticed quickly, but for the vast majority, it’s a jot of hard work, doing shows in some sketchy clubs, dealing with shady promoters….
A idea for you to go for.... Fluffly sold out a big US Baseball stadium, and was the first comedienne to do like Fen-way Park.. You could try working for that level and maybe be the first one to do a Basketball then Football stadium...
IMO, church humor just makes fun at people who mis-quote the Bible...John 8:22 says, "dammit, Johnny. Figure it out"...Ooops, that was my mom, not the Bible...Sorry...Keep doing what you're doing. You are a funny lady!
In certain circles. Conan knows his trajectory (1 Thessalonians 4:17), he's supposed to move to Texas and become a cowboy (Zechariah 13:5), but he's going to come up short (Romans 3:23, Revelation 16:15).
The "wild animal" bit is such a cracker! I'm constantly amazed that the "Christian Comedy" circuit is even a thing. Having also been brought up in a very Catholic family, I always found them to be an almost entirely humourless people.
It's because this channel isn't actually Taylor Tomlinson, just some random jackass uploading clips without anybody's permission. That's why the audio is weird and the video gets clipped, to avoid detectors.
I kind of hate the fact she's doing some lame late night show or whatever. I get her show is partly accepted but if all she's doing is reading Scripture material (probably written by other not funny people) it's not the same. Some of her funniest stuff is when she's interacting with the crowd.
"...they're all middle-aged married guys" Right, because there's no overlly zealous Christian women in charge of things. That's why the SNL church lady skit made no sense to anyone. Give me a break with this misandry!
You sound sad. Cheer up and get offline! Misandry is a word only used by sad men, don’t be sad. Men are like 99% percent of the problem and we all know it. Get over yourself bro
She is talking specifically about Christian comedians I believe - based on the sentence. I would be willing to bet there are far more male, Christian comedians than female.
@cylonred8902 Perhaps, but her new comedy game show is steeped with 3rd wave misandry, so perhaps not. She used to be one of my favorite comedians until mainstream media got its claws into her. Now she's gone all woke.
Considering she lived through it and you didn't, she's a more credible source, but even if she's wrong or her experience is the exception, I'm not clear how saying 'there are a lot of middle-aged married guys' is misandry. Is it an insult to be middle-aged? Is it an insult to be married? Is it an insult to be a guy? Where in that sentence does she attack anyone, let alone the male sex? At worst, she's just making a generalisation of the Christian comedy scene.
That wild animal joke is just one of the best.
i agree, i find Taylor hilarious , religious people are so uptight and have no sense of humor

Taylor's delivery has always been so heads-and-shoulders above most. You could tell she was going to be a star from day one.
It's adorable that Conan still gets a bit embarrassed when people compliment him.
That's an Irish trait.

She's great. You can see in her performance years of practice cause its all about timing and hers is perfect. And incredibly hard to do.
The most wonderful woman!!
I love the format... the false ending. And Taylor's observational humor is the best. I can't wait to hear what she comes up with next

Taylor is so funny on stage and seems like such a sweet person in interviews… I’m so looking forward to see how she will evolve going forward ❤

Played a few seats down from you in band from high school, Taylor.
Glad to see youve been successful and happy. Love your content.
How was she in school? She comes across as someone who was pretty normal.
Anything lucky enough to touch Taylor is by definition...blessed and holy.
New challenge for Taylor - Doing Stand Up At Middle Schools. 😎
Or worse, at college. Most of the comedians I know won’t even work them anymore because pretty much everything is censored.
Taylor is in between church and raunchy comedy 😅❤

"I'm not a Christian..." Clearly
I don't doubt that she was funny simply doing church humor. But casting her out was their loss and our gain.
The audio doubling to try and bypass copyright is making my ears hurt...
what is wrong with the audio???
An attempt to skirt a copyright strike most likely.
Altered to avoid copyright or something. YT is super picky about stuff like that
Might be over compression or this was ripped and then transcoded, which amplifies compression artifacts.
Sounds like they sped it up also.
No one is hating her face on a cruise ship no matter how bad it might go ...which i cant imagine her ever doing

I'm not positive but I think it's a format choice. They may have recorded it that way to make it sound like radio talk shows used to sound.
It's a repost channel and not the original. They do it on purpose to get past content repost filters. Full interview is on Conan's page. P
