Thanks for displaying this product. Metal Universe seems more of a comic-y product that suits marvel very well and maybe hockey a bit less. I like the idea of it being geared more towards kids, however they need to drastically reduce the price point of $160/box to be more kid friendly. Thanks Fulton. #Dryden
Not gonna comment on your new editing formula, which is overall very good and especially well suited for a Metal Universe break by the way. Maybe later I'll share you my thoughts but right now I must commit to more practical tasks around the house. Oh well, TLDR, I think you could keep both depending on the situation. P.S : My favorite hockey slang is probably Mike Lang's "He beats him like a rented mule!" whenever a Penguins scores a cheesy goal. Being french, I literally had to check if it's commonly used in english.
Very nice box and my first box I opened was similar to yours. I pulled a Red PMG of Eberle and a Rookie auto and two Cache cards and two palladium and one house acetate cards. The second box was meh but I got all the rookies . I may put together a base set as I like these cards as they look so retro 90's style of cards. #Dryden. I think I would of rather had your Metal card as I like how they look like a comic, do those metal comic cards relate to Marvel??? Sweet break!!!

How about when you hear "Chirping"....but you see no birds...? Usually when the "Zebras" make a bad call. I love when the head coach starts the game with his "Muckers and Grinders..." The younger generation don't know this...but before shootouts...sometimes the games would end in a tie...and both teams were forced to "Kiss your Sister..." Metal Universe has always been dope, but something that caught my eye in one of my packs is that Mark Kastelic, of the Ottawa Senators, in the R-30 card number, his name is misspelled in the background, instead of "KASTELIC," in metal it says "KASTRLIC." Does not seem to be a misprint, but rather all of them are like that - so strange that older cards had corrections but new ones are like "Oh, it's wrong? I'm just gonna send it."
There are a lot of error cards in the hobby, if you keep track of such things. I mean, recently Leaf even had a Grant Fuhr auto named "Grant Grant Fuhr." During the pandemic in particular, errors spiked because quality assurance was next to impossible as most business was done over Zoom, and print shops were likely at reduced staff. Financially, if an error isn't caught pre-boxing, it's rarely worth it to correct. And old school collectors love error cards, as they make the hobby more interesting and varied. Even mass produced valueless errors are fun. I think some of the first Kraken cards had an error card with the wrong player on it (Nathan Bastian). In fact, there is a wrong player in 2020-21 SPSL using the same photo from an error card in 1980s OPC. And, I don't even follow this stuff.
Really like the looks of the Skybox cards, seems like PMG's are losing their luster though which stinks. Loving that absolute banger of a Ted Lindsey in the background as well. #dryden

I agree. Market forces are often more about demand than supply. Logically, with more ppl in the hobby, there is more demand so UD would print more cards. Value would remain constant. The real issue is the secondary market went parabolic during the pandemic. So the market as a whole is retracing. PMG in particular had a lot of temporary outside money parked in them. Cards also have a major recency and superstar bias. Anyone flipping will sell at market highs and then buy the rookie and new card du-jour, and inflate that. The NHL PMG are a temporary gambling trend related to NBA Jordan cards. Do most hockey ppl value a PMG more than other options, notably after the PMG market crashes? Probably not. And, if ppl anticipate that SMU will be released every year, even if PMG are harder to hit (more boxes released, thus harder odds), they will conclude PMG will trend down not up. So they will buy some Caufield card trending up. Until the Caufield trends down. ...Cards are social media driven penny stocks not investments.
@@Fultoncards Your ability to analyze on this deep of a level is another reason we need you around in theis hobby to educate people. At the end of the day, I collect because I love it! Our core reason for collecting is what ultimately determines the decisions we make in this hobby. I feel like doing it because you love it leads to the most satisfaction rather than trying to invest and make money from these cards!
Good box 👍……I feel like the value for the “extra PMG” should be far less than the standard ones instead of dropping values overall but what I think doesn’t run the hobby lol. I guess if I collected the standard red/greens I wouldn’t let the purple’s or additional retro’s worry me if it doesn’t significantly change odds…..whereas with SPA the #’ed retro autographs have made pulling standard FWA’s far worse than in the past (if any of that makes sense 😅)
Thanks for the thoughtful post. It all makes perfect sense! When even the most seasoned influencers and insiders discuss "value" they miss most of the actual market drivers. They simply talk about watered down boxes in a vacuum, completely ignoring demand side econ. One, with more ppl in the hobby, you get more cards. Value would not change much if cards are printed proportionally to ppl. However, the latecomers are less interested in cards. They are there due to FOMO. Two, with more ppl, and more gambling due to group breakers, secondary market list prices, epack gaming, and poorer box odds, you get higher prices, so less value. Three, the FOMO usually occurs after a hyperinflation and parabolic market peak. So card values will come down regardless, after ppl overbought at all-time highs. Four, influencers themselves destroy card value by only showcasing and hyping a narrow subset of flagship product rookies and superstars, as inherently "great investments." They undercut personal taste, which would lift the value of semi-stars and more niche products, which is circular. Fifth, tastes still change. So, whether a PMG holds value has less to do with card counts in yearly releases and more with generational or short-term trends. ...All this to say, markets drivers are not just about printing. In fact, I myself don't really qualify cards as a rational market on any level, other than the seasoned retailers. It's a hobby with flippers trying to recoup for gambling on dismal odds, who are playing with penny stocks.

Actually it's harder to hit them in a case. You used to get 12+ in a case in 20-21, now you get 6-8. They're still awesome!
