- City's dramatic journey to becoming European champions
Manchester City will this week begin the defence of our first Champions League trophy.
Since first qualifying for Europe's elite club competition in 2011, we have coveted the iconic trophy.
In June, with Rodrigo's strike against Inter, Pep Guardiola's side were finally crowned champions of Europe.
There had been plenty of near misses beforehand - not least the final defeat in Porto in 2021.
Guardiola also guided us to the semi-final stage in the 2021/22 season, when a late, dramatic Real Madrid double turned around a tie we seemed destined to win.
Before Guardiola, Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini had also tried to take us to glory - with Pellegrini's 2015/16 team also exiting at the semi-final stage against Real Madrid.
Ahead of our 13th consecutive season in the Champions League, we look back on the highs and lows of the road to the summit of the European game.

If you are a City fan, for over 30+ years you'd say 'no'. He was a fabulous, important player for City, but if you're not wearing North African specs you'd be more objective.
He was a sensational team player, who we will love forever, but not the same as Hayes, Summerbee, Young, Quinn, Wright Phillips, Zaba, Kompany or Gündo.

The following year which is 1970-1971 Chelsea won theirs first ever euoprean trophy cup winners cup(europa league) again people used to complain about chelsea for no history before 2012. Nowadays fans are going blind with so called history, I honestly am sick of them but, chelsea with boehly is not what it used to be. I never felt so connected to the team and fans before. what a special team. As a south african... I am so glad i chose Manchester City as home in 2008. everyone was a manchester united fan where i am from... i decided City because I wanted to be the other side as such is my personality.. the road seldom taken... I had a thing with west ham and liverpool prior to that as i didn't want to rush a lifelong decision, as thats just how I roll with such matters. my 1st love was Kaizer chiefs at that time but the standard of football was drastically decreasing in my country and i went all in at city after the 2010 WC held here. I never looked back . I fully knew we didn't have modern trophies but i didn't care because it never occured to me that that was the criteria of supporting a team in a foreign land so imagine my shock when i was labeled a glory hunter only after we won the league, which is something that taught me a great lesson about human nature... mainly cause none of those individuals were born into supporting those teams and lied about such. yeah im looking at you Zee... you only got dstv in 2013 bro stop the cap, but i digress... i fell inlove with you ...cause you saw me standing alooooone.... without a dream in my heart.....without a love of my own..... Blue moon. Found a fellow Citizen in 2014.... the 1st other City fan i met and he was the real deal. his parents house had memorabilia. names on shirts id never heard. and people conviniently forget that both manchester clubs used to come to south africa and play the big teams here, tottenham aswell if im not mistaken.... and i was a heavy KC supporter then. now i just check in on them and watch highlights . biography

I must admit - I'm an Arsenal fan. I've been my entire life.
Only recently started to follow City because of my boy Haaland which i've followed since he left norway (I'm norwegian).
People can say you had the budget, but as many teams have showed before - You don't get anywhere without the passion and hard work as well.
I think it's incredibly fun and inspiring to watch city climb to the success they have.

People who support their teams can only understand the pain of defeat for the other teams to a certain level. As a Real Madrid fan, sure I am happy of what we did in the last 10 years and ofc it was tough losing like that at the Etihad. Heck I still think to this day we shouldn't have gone past the semis in 2021/22. No team should lose like City did that night, even I felt happy yet sad. Now that I've watched this video, I feel like I can grasp the actual level of emotions all Cityzens have faced over the years in Europe. After losing to Madrid and Bayern so many times, it seems it was destiny for City to win this time by defeating both of them consecutively.

Before I knew anything about the premier league or European football/soccer I played futsal here in Australia, the jerseys we wore as kids for the team were man city jerseys and years after that point I became best mates with a guy who was from Manchester and was a lifelong city fan. Was very shocked that the jersey I wore as a kid was actually a real team and now I watch them all the time late at night and at 5 in the morning 😂

Robinho was my favorite player growing up so when he joined Manchester City in September 2008, I was in doubt about the move but I did some research and found out this club was building for the future and instantly became a fan. I Fell in love with the club and the players such as Craig Bellamy (oh my days what a player), Wright Phillips (a better version of Sterling) Aguero, Yaya Toure, David Silva, Tevez and so many other great players we had I could name. it is crazy how the noisy neighbors became the most feared club in Europe. best 15 years of my life.
Barcelona twice, Madrid twice, the best Monaco side ever, a kicking in Lyon, a heartbreak against Spurs and… them.
Through horrendous injuries, awful officiating and a lack of experience, we finally did it.
They tell us we haven’t suffered in the past 50 years, that we have no history , that we buy all the success; all of that means nothing.
Champions of Europe, Treble Winners; the Greatest Football team on the planet.
