I strongly disagree with the approach taken by Lawyer Boahen on a recent TV program.
Both he and Lawyer Anokye, as historians and lawyers, were discussing historical events they hadn't witnessed firsthand. African history is often passed down through generations, and its accuracy can be disputed. Rather than accusing someone of lying, they should engage in mature and respectful dialogue, especially on a public platform.
Labeling someone's work as a lie on live television is unacceptable, especially in an academic context. Both individuals were invited to share their expertise, not engage in a verbal spat. Lawyer Anokye, an Nzema, was simply sharing his perspective on history without any apparent bias.
As young people, we should promote constructive criticism and respectful disagreement, rather than encouraging confrontational behavior. If someone makes a statement we believe is inaccurate, we should address it in a reasonable and respectful manner.

Lawyer Anokye has been doing well with Akan history, however he sometimes makes unsubstantiated claims in etymology of words and names. These lead to certain historical distortions and exaggerations which are sometimes misleading and creates confusion.
He tells it as it's so a lot of people will have problems with it because a lot of our history has been distorted already and he is correcting it so people will find it difficult to understand him

It is never true that all Akans are from Bono. Lawyer Obiri Boahen’s version is the absolute truth! Most Akans came to their present abodes through Bona in present day Cote D’ivoire. The Adansi’s arrived with their great god called Bona. They share a lot of accolades reflecting the god “bona”; they eventually settled around Akrokeri on the Obuase to Kumasi road. The Adansi people eventually became the first group to build permanent sellements/houses.
