This season is the one when United fans finally realized that it’s going to take 5+ years to become competitive again. Laugh all you want at Liverpool or Arsenal for not winning the title for 30 and 20 (and counting) years but United is also on track to not winning it for 20+ years. Stay humble.
Why is this “the season”? Unless you’re dumb you should’ve known for years. Of course our fanbase have been manager or player out for years thinking that was the problem. People finally realizing this have been the dumb ones because logical fans have forever stated the most obvious while others just blamed one thing.

One of the most painful things about watching us play football is the fact that we can barely string five passes together. I watch so many other midfielders from different teams/leagues and I so badly wish we had someone like Baleba who isn’t even as good as the likes of Pogba that we’ve had before. I think it's great Ruben finally said it, bc I think it needs to be stated time and time again, the manager doesn't have a competitive squad, we've got players who are just chilling at the club like Casemiro, Shaw and Lindelöf etc. Same with some of our younger players. It's really not difficult to understand. Good managers are able to change formations and systems. Making a system work takes time and money, but in the interim you have to adapt. Look at Arteta, the way Arsenal have played has changed year on year since he began, once players were brought in. He didn't start playing the type of football he is playing now with inferior players 5 years ago, it was impossible. It's really not hard to understand. Ten hag started playing counter attacking football for that reason and not the typical ajax football when his team were unable to control games.

Infairness to Amorim he did warn us from day dot that we would suffer and that we would have to prioritise survival settings(not get relegated), whenever asked about his system over and over he’d always answer saying that it is not so much about the system but developing understanding of the game from a fundamental level, back 3 or 4 or 5 to him is the same if the players understand the fundamentals of football to a top level then it won’t matter how we set up, he basically keeps saying that he needs to work on how the players see a game of football rather then how they see his system (essentially revealing that these players across the board have a low football IQ) the players themselves proved this by only managing to get results in games where they’ve simply went out and tried as hard or harder than their opponents ie. You are spot on Terry about the lack of athleticism and physicality .... we have no chance against some of these PL teams when we can't win a second ball. Our lack of speed is alarming. Other channels blaming team selections and systems are missing the point. Even if you have quality players right throughout the team, they still need to be athletes to succeed in the PL. Man City are a case in point as their struggles are not so much quality but athleticism. United on the other have neither and our place on the table is in accordance with our ability to compete in the PL.

Infairness to Amorim he did warn us from day dot that we would suffer and that we would have to prioritise survival settings(not get relegated), whenever asked about his system over and over he’d always answer saying that it is not so much about the system but developing understanding of the game from a fundamental level, back 3 or 4 or 5 to him is the same if the players understand the fundamentals of football to a top level then it won’t matter how we set up, he basically keeps saying that he needs to work on how the players see a game of football rather then how they see his system (essentially revealing that these players across the board have a low football IQ) the players themselves proved this by only managing to get results in games where they’ve simply went out and tried as hard or harder than their opponents ie. Liverpool City and Arsenal games… teams that use their football IQs to get a result don’t need to go out and bust their guts to do so
