You guys are killing it on the new direction the Delos videos are going. I'm enjoying watching the build just as much as the cruising videos onboard Delos. Great job Brian and Kaza!
That's great to hear, it's been super fun to switch things up and play around with how we can capture and share the build, so happy you are loving the vids!

It seems that this is an outstanding group of men, in all regards. Supremely knowledgeable at their trade, kind, good natured, hard working, honest, fair, humble. So beautiful to see.
I have seen a few aluminium boats being built. I like this one over the others. The dry Aussie humor is priceless, but more importantly the end result will be a very strong boat because they know exactly what they are doing.

I am seriously impressed by the quality of this build. I like the use of CNC for accuracy and speed of construction, but also the little touches to make the manual processes more accurate. It shows that a lot of planning went in to the design. Very impressive for a one-off build.
Thanks Dan! Yeah that's what's so cool about Aluminum, the level of customization that's possible and doing design changes without breaking the bank and having to do custom molds is sooo cool!

I'm surprised your viewers don't also watch Sailing Into Freedom. Plucky is building an aluminum cat in Bason Shipyard in Thị Vải, Vietnam. The Odisea 48 team uses an English wheel, also. Being Australian, he would’ve loved to build his cat in Australian, but it was cost prohibitive. The small frame Vietnamese are excellent at getting into tight spaces to weld. It's exciting watching the similarities and differences. I love that I can understand Australians. Vietnamese, not at all. Thanks for sharing.
Ahhh, the art of using an English wheel!! Very few people left that can use one properly or that have the patience and skill! Loving watching as Delos 2.0 comes together
So very interesting to see the intricacies of building Delos 2.0. Crew's skills are amazing. Sometimes hard to understand the Aussie accent, but they seem so relatable. Good video, as always, Kazza and Brian! Much love to all. ❤
Gents, Thank you very much for showing us the build... I am stoked! I am a handfull of years away from doing this myself. I've seen English wheels being used in the automotive industry before, aka Hotrods and custom cars. I've never seen a peace that big being formed. Love from landlocked Minnesota!
I've seen it as well, and spoken with people who do it too. Working steel on an English wheel is comparatively easy since steel plates generally won't break. Aluminum however WILL snap if you over bend it, I wonder if that's what happens in the next episode of the build.
I’ve been watching you for quite a while and I have to say, it’s because of you and your family I decided to learn to sail. I’ll be joining you on the water within 2 years. You guys are amazing and deserve the new home! Congratulations!!!
Honestly the two selling channels I watch are you and Samson boat Co. At 7 years of watching a wooden boat be built and it just launched and I was missing it. Well I hope this doesn't take 7 years it's fun to watch a metal boat be built immediately after that.
I've been in a sail boat once in my life and after being in storm for 6 hours I swore I'd never ever do it again. After watching all your videos, some playlists multiple times I'm constantly checking if there's a new video. The boat project is exactly what the chanel needed, can't wait to watch more eventhough sailing is probably never going to be my thing unless it's perfect conditions and in a lake or something. 🤣
Hey guys. The shell is coming along at a good pace. I think the decision to go with (aluminum) or as I would say aluminium was inspired, as running repairs to Hull damage is both faster and safer. And the aluminum allows your boat to venture where others dare not. It feels like a privilege to be allowed to come on the build journey with you and each week I can feel the anticipation building inside me. The blokes you're working with look like they're great fun, and that's what you need when there's a ton of hard work ahead of you. Last thing, that frame looks huge. It's not a boat "it's a ship!" Can't wait for the next installment, love and peace to you all. Oh yeah, I hope the Nugg is still loving daycare. Best wishes people!
For some reason I was thinking yesterday was Friday and was stressing out with no Delos video. Thankfully I realized Friday was yet to come and I hadn't missed an episode. Exciting to watch the build coming together.

been following you guys for a decade... and I love me some metal fabrication. This scratches a pretty niche itch for me. I could watch you build 2.0 for days. Cheers!
Using the English Wheel, and other similar shaping machines, is actually pretty common in the auto industry. Specifically with craftsmen who restore vintage cars where after market, pre-formed body parts aren't available that force them to make them from scratch. The big difference is the metal thickness. Car body parts are much thinner. Very impressive!
I am just hoping that SV Delos doesn't have all the issues that SLV (Sailing La Vagabonde) has. They have had a 2m USD boat for a year and it is already falling apart, new engine, mass pole having holes, and countless other issues. I think SV Delos found a great builder and having Brian be part of it, we know that things will go a lot smoother. Way to go!

By building the ship them they can make brand deals with the best suppliers in the world. I would not be surprised if they would get a Seldén rig and mastervolt electric system e.g. in the new ship

interesting comparing to Plukkys build... they bend much larger plates to avoid exessive welding which weakens the metal. I guess its a matter of what equipment is available to you
I graduated high school in 1976, back in my day Shop Class was still a thing, usually they split the year up with wood shop, metal shop, we also learned to set type and run a printing press. Mostly boys in the class but once in while maybe one or 2 girls took Shop, and maybe one or 2 boys took Home Economics. During the metal shop we learned how to roll metal bending it making curves, but on a much smaller scale than you are doing with Delos 2.0. I'm a firm believer that we should bring both Shop and Home Ec back to our schools curriculum. We need more people who work with their hands, skilled labor jobs are hard to fill these days.
I hope you've been enjoying how we live here in Queensland suburbia, I'm just down the road in Brisbane CBD. The warm weather is coming, if you're even still here lol. Looking forward to seeing this built and so glad you chose a small Aussie company of good guys with exceptional tradie skills.

Reminds me of when I worked for a company in Gibraltar Michigan. Oceanic Cat's. We built a power cat from bar Napkin to finish product. Took several long days and nights hours per week and weeks on end. Times you didn't want anything to do with it. But when it was ready for it's first water test. It was the greatest feeling like having your first baby. Passing out cigars just to see it floating balance on all points. Even knowing the motors could not start. Not a problem just tickled to see our cat boat prototype floating. So I see you putting in the hours I can relate. Your boat is looking fantastic. Well deserve a pint after a day like that. 😎👍🍷

Hopefully this build process doesn’t get too repetitive for most viewers. I am really enjoying the details myself, this boat is going to be a beast!! Keep doing what you’re doing….
Good times 🎉 like this build series. Exciting new direction 🎉
I'm amazed how fast you have caught on to welding and fabricating, Brian!!! And Kaza and nugget are becoming at home on land!!
Kazza was never at home at sea.
You kids are smashing these videos, really enjoyable to watch, cheers for sharing.
Love that process Kenneth, bar napkin to floating boat 😂 Yeah we're dreaming of that day when we sail away on our boat that we built....gonna be right up there with some of our huge life milestones! Glad you've been able to experience that crazy feeling for yourself 🥳
@@svdelos It's all worth the blood sweat and a few beers. When you see her floating for the first time. And hopefully soon before you get liked living on Land.
Great video! Love watching this all come together.
