So pretty. I find comfort in you saying when you don't feel like sketching you don't force it. I go through phases where I just can't sketch enough, and some times when I'm good. I tend to get busy with other parts of my business so sketching goes on hold for a bit. I'm usually feelin it by the end though!
I don’t really try and force anything in life. Eventually you will get to where you need to be. I love setting goals and working towards them but I’m also here to enjoy my time.
Love it Brie. Right now I just love playing with watercolors and watching how each color plays with another. I saw something called color therapy and I think I know why now they call it that...lol. So glad you are catching a break for a bit to hang out with us. Hugs.
I’m always drawn to watercolors. I’m still learning, but it is so soothing to paint! Since I’m living that mom life of a baby and toddler, I don’t always have the luxury of busting out my paints. So I always have a couple graphite and colored pencils handy to sketch in the 5 minutes that I get here and there.
Inktober really got me back to pen and ink and you have gotten me interested in a ballpoint pen. It's so easy and when I am busy or stressed I do ink sketches. Sometimes I go back later and add watercolor. I am a prek teacher and have to stay in my creative brain constantly so when I get home, I dont always feel like getting out my paints. Take care, I love your ideas!
Love the flower, it’s beautiful as always. I am currently journaling in my A6 Hobonichi with my Pigma Microns mostly the browns. I am writing more than drawing although when I get the urge I sketch something then watercolor it in. I thoroughly enjoy drawing the Greek Gods, it’s one of my things 😉
Hi! Bree, I love watching you work. It's so relaxing. I'm in love with your journals. I want to buy one as a Christmas gift to myself. At the moment I am spending my time writing in my Journal and reading. I don't have a family to look after. However my health is not the best. I do find drawing the best form a relaxing. However when I'm stress. I do find that I'm drawing less. It's happens slowly over time. I don't realise it's happening, until I think about it. My time writing increases. As well as my time spent reading, also increases. Thanks for sharing your wonderful journals. Also you beautiful work. I look forward to watching more.
Thank you for all your kind words. Drawing is one of the best ways for me to step away from it all, that’s for sure. Now if we could just make ourselves do it when we desperately need it.
Beautiful daffodil. I can so relate to being stuck in my head. I'm the same - too stressed means less art even though it would probably be really helpful!
I abruptly stopped sketching when I lost my job on Oct 1st (also stopped shopping, which is why I didn't yet get your fall and winter stickers...), and was only writing in short bursts. Yesterday I went out with the Bellingham Urban Sketchers and FINALLY put pen to paper again! Current supplies: hardcover watercolor sketchbook, Rotring mechanical pencil, Bic 4-color ballpoint, Daniel Smith watercolors in my Pocket Palette, waterbrush. Nice to be in action again!
Watching you always inspires me to sketch/paint. I haven't in a couple weeks -- too nice outdoors, I guess. I want to fiddle around with some Christmas card making. Do you ever do that? God bless the full time moms and the single moms. Momming is hard work no matter how you slice it. Take a little time to do the things you love to do -- even if it's a bath or a walk or a sketch.
First of all your daffodils sketch is so beautiful! For me too, single parents are heroes, I can tell from experience because I have someone in my family who lives away from us and as a result from some kind of help from us and I admire her every second! I love both drawing and writing in my journal these days. Mostly drawing and that is a win for me because I am very critique with my drawing skills! I love drawing with ball pen and watercolours and I love to sketch also with pencils and colour pencils. Lately, I mix my watercolours with my colour pencils and I love it!
I managed to keep up with drawing everyday for Inktober last month. I did ballpoint pen sketches in my written journal with watercolor. Now I am not writing everyday but do journal every few days. I also keep a watercolor journal/ sketch book and have been playing more in that. I am trying to push myself (rather step outside my comfort zone) into abstract as well as sketching.
I definitely remember my single parenting day's or I should say years. My son is now 44 yrs old and he remembers things back when he was growing up that I have long forgotten. But we have always been best friends and always will be. He does not live near and I don't get to see him and his family much, but when I do there is always some kind of art project we get into. My grandkids are 23 and 18 but I still treat them like little's. LOL! Brie, thanx for your excellent videos and your great products!!
I find that when the weather changes and I get outside less, I don't draw as much.😥 I also draw flowers and nature. So my challenge this winter is to work on architecture and perspective drawing. I love Ian Fennely's work. It is so beautiful! Check it out.His use of color before and after the ink is amazing. He uses water color and Tombow markers combined. So I have all these tombow markers just hanging around on my desk... Its time to learn. New way to paint.🥰🖌🎨❤
ty for sharing. i love watching you draw and paint. you are so talented. i enjoy seeing all your different journals , i am addicted to journals. Thanksgiving is almost here and i paint my Christmas cards every year but . it seems my creative juices or MIA (missing in action). i started watercolor lessons after i retired in 2017, once a month at our local art supply store, i still attend the lessons but i really enjoy watching your videos. thank you so much. 😄
Love how you shade with your pen I am trying to get better at it, right now it is a miss and hit situation! LOL. I applaud all the single Mom’s out there I am disable I have a hard time taking care of me. I am like you at times I step away from my art but then when I start back up I am so happy. I am into Hydracolour shimmering watercolor it gives me so much joy right now. Thank you Brie for the inspiration!
Thank you again! My folios came yesterday - love! They will be my December carries. Brie, I am wondering . . . at some point in your schedule (mom first! of course - truly understandable) . . . yet, will you ever be able to offer an online sketching course? I love your style. Have a wonderful week!

I’m not into making cards per say. However we do make birthday cards for family.

I'm working in a art journal, junk journal and sketchbook . I go between drawing and writing

Hello! Newbie from James Burke's channel.
So glad you decided to check out my channel!!

I am really wanting to put some sketch courses out in 2020. That is my one and only goal for the year🤗
