Fugazi are like the missing link between post-punk and grunge. Great reaction! love waiting room, it's classic.

Yeah, the truth. Check out who all the grunge bands listened to, Fugazi was one of the tops.

I would throw Meat Puppets, Minutemen, Dinosaur Jr, Husker Du, Janes Addiction, Sonic Youth, and a few others in there too

Alway great to see people expressing Luv the 1st time they hear Fugazi's signature song. I was there back when Fugazi was new. Like & subscribed, BTW

Fugazi could have gotten even bigger than they did. They were offered scads of money during the grunge/alternative hype era. But they didn't care about money or fame. They cared about making music and making a difference. $5 admission caps on their shows (I think the most was $8), the venue had to be all ages, and Ian was very outspoken if someone in the audience or acting as security was being a dick or violent. Their songs took on sexism ("Suggestion"), AIDS ("Give Me The Cure"), the environment ("Styrofoam"), racism ("And The Same") , etc. The guys were so down to Earth cool, too.

I'm proud to say Fugazi the first show ever for me. I was fifteen and they put on did a benefit show for the homeless in D.C. It was on Freedom Plaza and every walk of life came up the stairs and just enjoyed it. The city kept shutting off the power, but every one just rolled with it...

I went to their show in front of the White House in Lafayette Park in '91 protesting the first Gulf War. Epic.

Seeing them live is the best introduction. I’m glad you reacted to this live version. It’s a treasure. Did you see that perfectly timed swing and mic catch about a min in?
    They’re in the zone.

These were the days. Memories of being out on the road touring with bands. Fugazi was a DC band, I mostly toured with OC, LA and Seattle bands and it was a blast.

FooGahzi is how you pronounce. :) one of the best videos of the group from this time period.
Saw Fugazi live at The Outhouse in Lawrence KS. in 1989. Amazing show. Someone mentioned Minor Threat. Yep, check them out.

If you want to have some fun, check out Wugazi. It's a mashup of WuTang and Fugazi. And it's genius. Shame On Blue is a good one.

They played in my town and it sold out and I couldn't see them. They made the place only charge $5 for tickets and they had to have bottled water available for those in attendance and they had to have multiple brands of water to chose from.

You should react to the studio version. Live is good if you're there. I love this, but if this was my first hearing, I wouldn't want to hear it again.

Sorry you sound like Donnie Brasco, its Fu-GAH-Zee Ian MacKaye the singer had a band Before this called Minor Threat. Being from DC they were close to the Bad Brains. I think the Bad Brains recorded Minor Threats first EP. The album recordings don't sound much better these guys were DIY early stuff was recorded in a basement.
