Absolutely brilliant! A total snapshot of a period in time, and a far more innocent one at that. Where the seventies was trying so hard to head in to the eighties and creating a weird world all of its own. I used to watch Get it together - I could never fully find it in my heart to forgive Roy North for deserting Basil Brush - but everyone is trying so hard and seemingly enjoying themselves. I view this and can only smile with them and not at them - the lack of self consciousness is thoroughly refreshing.

Agree. Everyone on modern TV shows is so made up and ‘professional’ and ‘cool’, it makes me sad for a time when a bit of talent and a LOT of enthusiasm was the driving force. Things may be slicker today but overall they are colder and less genuine.
And yes, I used to sneer at this at the time! 😎

The Pretenders' guitars have no leads plugged in and the drums aren't miked up, so I'd say live vocal with a specially recorded backing track. Not sure the vocal is live anyway. But a specially recorded version anyway which is great to hear. The guys in the Pretenders don't look too pleased though. They must have felt like they were tricked into appearing on something like Play Away but not as good as Play Away. The show is so uneven, but that's part of the joy of the 70s!

There again, most mainstream artists are completely safe and woolly so I don’t it would even be an issue. And not that there are kids shows like this anyway 😎

@60s Man 60s Guitars ITV often didn't know how to schedule a tv series. The classic example was the one and only run of Prisoner Cell Block H. The obvious nature of the show meant a late night slot but it was constantly moved about and often replaced without warning. It was also shown by different regions at different points in the story and in some areas the last couple of series were never shown. Two of its biggest stars came to England to protest in some of the regions. It worked but not everywhere. When channel 5 started up the show was given prime viewing and even a fan club was started. C5 didn't chop and change.
