Thinking about how godly Jeongyeon's vocals would've been if she trained under SM
@@orangenade3707 I beg to disagree. Training in SM enhances their singing talent but Wendy is born to sing that good. Back in her high school days, although she's a top student, she has been constantly singing and she's a member of a choir which helped mold her singing talent. Singing is already innate in Wendy and it needs a lot of time and effort to be that good. When she joined SM, she also helped Seulgi in their vocal sessions, hence, Seulgi's other vocal instructor.
As you can see, most of SM artists have good singing abilities but not everyone can sound like Wendy (and other SM main vocalists like Taeyeon).

Seulgi has now regressed so she's out. i also saw the rv concert in seoul before the pandemic. seulgi was evidently tired during bad boy song so she's not really good with stamina anymore, her face was straining.

It's crazy to see how all of Red Velvet's vocal lines in the top 5 on the list. If you guys still underestimate about Joy's vocal abilities, you must remember that singing is not only based on vocal power.. but also with good technique. Yupp.. Joy doesn't have a strong vocal power. But her singing techniques are good. She can do falsetto, and head voice so easily which most vocalists who only rely on VOCAL POWER, can't do that.

Joy has absolutely no upper extended mix. And she can barely mix by the end of the fourth octave. Now theres nothing wrong with flipping into falsetto in the 5th octave but to be a main or lead vocalist that ability is very important. If joy does mix in her upper register her voice often gets stuck. Her case is very similar to jisoo.
No shes a weak singer without supported range

Yes, but Resonance is vibrations that create tone through and within your mouth, throat, and nasal passages that can fill up a hall or large room without electronic assistance. Additionally having resonance doesn’t make someone a better singer Over someone who can’t. And it doesn’t mean they have better technique. Technique includes much more that Wendy beats her in. I hope more people know how Joy's voice is really appreciated in Korea, and how Joy uses some traditional trot techniques in her singing. Joy's been praised as a vocalist both by music critics and the general public where she's called "Tone Fairy" and was voted by knetz as having the Top 3 best vocal color among female idols. Joy has two Daesang nominations as a soloist, became the first SM Female Artist to receive a Bonsang nomination without a solo debut, she has the record for the longest charting OST by a Female Idol on Melon's Daily 100 Chart, an OST with over 536 million digital points, and she made it to the next round of the King of Mask Singer on her first try. Joy also just made a successful solo debut and is still charting in the Top 20 of Billboard's K-Pop Hot 100 3 months later.
The composer Hwang Hyun who is called "Korea's Beethoven" said that Joy has his favorite voice from idols. Yoo Heeyeol said he was impressed by Joy's voice and wanted her to release a solo album, and a respected singer like Shin Hyobum (who is known to dislike idols) said that Joy sounded so good singing live on Sketchbook that she thought it was a recording. Even a top music critic who was praising Red Velvet's vocal line specifically said that Joy has "a presence as a vocalist just as good" as Wendy and Seulgi. People should look at performances like the Dreams Come True special stage, or Hush, or Mr Mr, where Joy was given main vocal parts and was widely praised. I think Joy not only has a coveted vocal color but has a great ability to interpret and convey the meaning of any song, which is such an important aspect of being a vocalist.

I actually think that Joy has one of the best tone quality out of all Kpop idols. But the thing about her that I noticed is that she's not as versatile as someone who is thought by people she can be a lead vocalist.
But same as Jisoo (who is a lead vocalist) both of them are not versatile but have better techniques which is good for them.
Irene should be higher (maybe between Jennie and chae) but I would actually put yeri right after her. I think Irene has taken a step past her recently

**3RD GENERATION GIRL GROUPS (my opinion)** Wendy is undisputed #1. She hits all the categories of a good singer, technique, tone, adlibs and everything in between. There's nothing she lacks in. I'd switch Jihyo and Seulgi, I think Seulgi has better runs than Jihyo. Jihyo is definitely the best in Twice. Also, Joy, who is doing well digitally - was always the dark horse for me. Out of the separate OSTs/releases of 3rd gen gg, she surprised me - her vocal tone and emotion is so soloist worthy. Lastly, Rose. I wish YG would help her because she has the tone that I like most (comparable to Joy) but maybe even better, BUT she's so inconsistent in her live singing. Sometimes very good, sometimes very bad. YG needs to give her: technique lessons and solo songs because I really believe she deserves to be marketed better, she had (or has) the potential, and it's sad that it seems its going to waste.

Shifting and Agility makes Seulgi superior vocalist than of Twice Main Vocal. Yes, I agree that Jihyo has a wider ranger but she hasnt been able to impress. She cant do a proper vocal run which Seulgi on the other hand has been able to show. Kingdom Come is one of those songs. People should not only look on the Support Ranger but also Vocal Agility and Shifting Abilities because these also measures how good a vocalist is.
@@aex2309 to me, Jihyo is probably one of the most stable vocalists of this generation. But her vocal is so boring to me. There's nothing about it that stands out nor sets it apart from others, it's like the “greatness of basic-ness” if I could describe it. Seulgi, Jeongyeon, Joy, Nayeon, Rose have more color to their vocal than her.
len exactly, there’s isnt a something that really sparks. Like she hits notes here and there but thats just it. I mean i am no way hating on JiHyo its just my take on it as someone who loves to sing and someone who looks up to great vocalists. Nayeon has a good vocal timbre that I like even though she’s not very proficient in her techniques, there are things that she lacks and techniques and vocal agility are some of them but I would listen to her than JiHyo. Though JiHyo is far better technique vocalist than her. Nayeon’s Timbre makes up for what she lacks but i kinda hope that she’ll train because she has potential. JiHyo on the other hand has great potential as well and I wish she could train her agility and even vibrato even more.

Irene will be a beast if she had the control, her vocal texture is very unique especially low where her natural huskiness shows and can accent with fry dips, she's got the range from whistle to a few notes deeper than most female idols, and one of the most beautiful falsettos I've ever heard in kpop. Seulgi's control on the other hand is on another level, ya'll might be over looking it a bit, wait for her demonstrate more of her voice's power.

I’d put Seulgi #2, due to the fact that even tho she’s technically on par with Jihyo, she’s able to do more with her voice. She’s far more agile, and has the vocal stamina, and has more developed lower register. I’d also put Irene higher than Yeri on your list. If you’re a trained vocalist you’ll know that Irene has an incredible pitch control, like even acapella, she never misses and she even has connection through out her range.
Exactly, They are on the same level with Jihyo on technique but what makes Seulgi better is how her vocals are agile and very versatile that she can also execute runs and riffs and melismas that compliments Wendy’s powerhouse vocal acrobatics. She is the only one that could do that which i dont think Jihyo couldnt

Finally someone who puts Joy above Rosé. They’re both great and have unique voices, but Joy is way more consistent and doesn’t strain much. Red Velvet is a top tier vocal group, this just prove that SM really has THE VOCALS. And something I adore about RV is that they’re able to harmonize, all the members together. Harmonization is not easy and they have my respect for it.

Yeri is an underrated vocalist, she improved a lot over the years and even Wendy said it, she can reach high notes, low notes and although she is not the best she is very good but they do not appreciate her talent, I totally agree with this ranking, they finally appreciate yeri's voice

She couldn’t use her voice for a long time and couldn’t get surgery for it, so she took shots instead since she won’t have to recover from a surgery as she is near her debut date. She sang the high notes for happiness on her debut stage with the nodules, along with hours of practices. Must’ve been hard for her😢

Seulgi can sing both powerfully and softly, from very low to very high notes (very wide range!), and how she delivers EMOTIONS in singing is just amazing. I always got so emotional when I listen to her singing. She has an Ost called "Always", its just full of emotions and amazing vocal. You can listen to it. .Last but not least, she still sing super stable while dancing a hard choreo, showing how good she is in controlling her breath
