But for some reason, California is the only state that gets blamed for natural disasters like wildfires and earthquakes happening to them. I think as Americans we have an overinflated sense of self and believe that we can just muscle our way through anything and its just not the case.
California cant just pull resources that dont exist out of thin air. They could have a million firefighters and a million buckets of water and it still wouldn't prevent or stop a wild fire from happening.
It's a little more complicated than that. In California the State Insurance commissioner refused the insurance rate increase proposed by the insurance companies. Inflation cost... Influx of uninsured illegal drivers... increase of vehicle break in crime and theft allowed by the state...have all increased the liability and cost for the insurance companies. Most major insurance companies have either left the state or stopped insuring all together.
Also the fact that people build their homes in high fire risk areas, and the fact the state refused to clear brush and dead trees for "environmental"reasons have exacerbated the fire problem. THEN the same state governor and his predecessors refused to build and expand water reservoirs on behalf of a fish that's pretty much extinction also factor in the water shortage to put out these fires.
