Have you considered installing some kind of structure over the refrigerator to provide shade? (Even a couple of trees would do, but you will have to wait for them to grow! ) I believe the electrical bill for this refrigerator would drastically decreased.
Y'all got a great price on the walk in ... have to be careful with buddies that say yeah I can do that... I've been a electrician going on 26 years... that's a freaking awesome price on the walk in and the pad in my eyes... thank you for sharing in going to build a smaller 1 for deer
We've kept one for personal use and I still have one that we are going to give to a family member. Otherwise, yep, sold them all. That was an adventure in itself.
I'm wondering after having it for a while what the electric bill is in comparison if you noticed a difference compared to residential freezer. I store 1 cow per year in chest freezer and have a second one for other meats pigs and such. I would like to grow to a larger setup and hold up to 10 head cattle and 20 pig after butcher in a walk in long term. But for now residential works.
Put structure. Not trees over it for added shade. Tree debris will be a maintenance item and if not taken care of will reduce your lifespan of the freezer unit.
@@SheratonParkFarms I expected you would have a savings. less compressors running and the bigger you go the more efficient. I live in Southern Saskatchewan Canada. I am planning to add pasture raised pork to our line of grass fed beef in the coming year. I like you vidios.
@@SheratonParkFarms what! That is amazing! I am looking at a 100 acre place. Never thought you would be having this much success on 32 acres. Well done!
Thank you

Good point. We have considered it but haven't built anything yet. Appreciate ya'll watching!
Plant trees!
Thanks for sharing. Your videos are so helpful.
Thanks. Appreciate ya'll watching.
That’s a big investment but Surely worth it. Hopefully it does not draw too much electricity. Thanks for sharing
Thanks much for sharing
Good stuff. Thanks for the info!
Glad it was helpful!
An excellent video!! Thank you!!👍👍👍
Always great videos, thanks
As a restaurant owner... I've always fantasized that I would have enough space for a walk in fridge/freezer some day in my house.
They are the BOMB! We love it.
Great vid and good to know. How many years can an outdoor freezer like that last exposed to the weather?
The box should last a good while. If we take care of the mechanical, it should be good for years.

Thanks. It’s been a great addition to the farm.
Have you sold all of your residential freezers? Tim

@@SheratonParkFarms maybe factor that in to total cost since you getting money back at the end ?

We've ran the numbers and the walk in is actually cheaper than all the residential freezers we had. More efficient.

how have your operating costs been compared to Ll the chest freezers?
We actually save money with the big freezer. Been meaning to do a video on that.

Do you have a blast freezer as well? Wouldn't you lose moisture from your produce if you leave it in this to freeze slowly?
I do not have one. We don’t do produce. Only meat.
Where did you get your brand new cooling unit?
Don't remember the name of the unit but we bought it from Whaley's Refridgeration here in Greensboro.
How much did the cost of your electric vary between that walk in and the chest freezers
If you don't mind me asking
I don't have exact numbers but the bookkeeper (Saundra) says it is cheaper to run the big unit instead of the smaller ones.
@@SheratonParkFarms thats what I was a figuring
How long do you keep inventory for? Before it's not saleable?
How many acres do you farm/own?
We own 20 and lease an additional 12.

wondering about the noise... my property is not that big and the neighbors are kind of close
How much does the electricity cost per month to run this? I've been considering doing the same thing.
How much does it hit the monthly power bill?
Less hassle with just buying new.
Not everyone can afford or don’t want to go into debt to buy new.
