My first ever gig 1981, Newcastle city hall, Whitesnake, Coverdale, Lord, Paice, Marsden, Moody, Murray. They might be a better looking bunch now but back then i loved the bluesy Rock and Roll played with a smile and im not joking when i say big John Lord was rocking his big hammond organ back and forth, AND Mr Coverdale FIRE!

Both Coverdale and Hughes definitely do a great job of representing this song and the Mach 3 years STILL. Love this version and Glenn's version.

has a Ritchie Blackmore tone, but he takes his musicianship and technique to a modern level.
This video doesn't do the song justice, like the video for "Is This Love", great-coats on roof-tops.

@@indamood8806 When Deep Purple first came to North America, they played a concert in Montreal for Canadian agents and managers, and stayed over in Toronto. While being interviewed on the radio, the host said why don't you open up your rehearsal to the public, and charge them $5 to get in. We piled into a car and went to Toronto, watching them set up on board of education risers in a hallway. The show was incredible, having a theme to act out for every song, using costumes and props. I had already seen Jimi Hendrix, watching the second guitarist I saw with a Strat and Marshall stack. Ritchie Blackmore was far easier to learn from, mostly because he played single notes for solos. Having a modern lead guitarist is good for this gig, not being a creative band, but a recreation of oldies. I wonder how David Coverdale can look in the mirror and still think he deserves to be onstage. All it would take is a haircut to come out as looking modern. After Toronto, Deep Purple crossed the border into Buffalo, where they played a six-nighter in a bar for American agents and managers. Friends went but I didn't go. Starting off on electric guitar with a 1964 Fender Stratocaster and a Marshall stack with effects gave me a head start into the future of modern music.

Awesome song! My band played a cover of this song in 1974, while I was a senior in high school, but Coverdale's remake virtually kicked the version he did with Ritchie Blackmore to the curb!!! Kudos for bringing this version to my attention!
The backing vocals are superb with this lineup. And the band is tighter than the pockets of a billionaire.

They should do it (tour and do the DP material). It would be wild. That era of DP is still so underrated and these two should be filling stadiums......in a fair world.

Dave, that really rocked. Always great to see Reb Beach, but both guitars were phenomenal. Sounded like it weighed about 3 tons more than the original.
The Purple album has always been one of my favorites !! I love every song on this album! I also love Burn's video because it's amazing and rocks! The song and the video are both simply brilliant!
I am glad they added a proper organ solo. The version on the album they did a few years ago came up short.

В составе с Хьюзом и Ковердейлом это пожалуй лучший альбом у Лиловых. Ковердейл на должном сделал эту вещь и со Змеёй. Оригинал у Лиловых получше конечно же. Мистер Лорд такие клавиши там выдал.
мне всегда нравился вокал Хьюза, он такой белее оригинальный, и более привычный что-ли для DP. Хотя голос Ковердейла просто бесподобен, но не в DP, а именно в WS.
Ну не даром у него филармоническое образование.
