    I'm sorry but I probably missed the point.. I was listening but I got lost in the sauce but I was wondering why would you not want to passenger airbag to come off now if you do have a passenger you want it to be on for safety reasons that's evident but regardless and you have an accident and the airbag come out but the drivers dashboard that would make the car usable right?.. once the airbag has deployed I was told that the car is no good anymore this doesn't make sense but even though that's what insurance companies are telling drivers

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In an accident:
      1. If you have an adult in the passenger seat, airbag deploys
      2. If the passenger seat is empty, the airbag does not deploy
      3. If there is a passenger who is likely to be injured by an airbag, it will not deploy

    Keep it simple...LIGHT NEEDS TO BE ON WHEN A PASSENGER IS NOT IN THE PSGR SEAT.

      @@EdBwoy My ‘21 Subaru manuals explanation about this light is so complicated and drawn out, I have read it 5 times over still don’t understand it. My car has 2 separate lights on and off. So, when I start my Subaru both the on/off illuminate during the self check. When there is no passenger, the light is illuminated showing “OFF”. When there is a passenger, there is NO LIGHT. In that case, will the airbags deploy for my passenger?

    My light on dash says both airbags are off . It use to say only passenger bag was off but for some reason it says both are off . I don’t like that because I feel drivers bag should be on . I don’t know how to turn it on . Help. !!!

    Hey EbBwoy.. Its actually crazy that they designed the system like this. Most other companies just used a weight sensor in the seat to determine airbag deployment and also the force/urgency of deployment (early 2000's BMW for example). However, Infiniti also utilizes tension/pressure/length of extension of their (motor controlled) seat belt (when fastened) to truly see the whole picture. Only then is the airbag protection system fully calculated to do its best job and also not further harm their occupant upon deployment. Reading thru the fine print/vaguely worded info in their service repair manual is proof of this. Also, regardless of weight/occupancy sensors and seat belt status, any front impact at 14mph or over will trigger all available airbags/collision safety measures regardless of if there is an occupant or not. This is calculated from 'area over force of impact sensors' in the chassis of the vehicle. Essentially it's must know the car is at or over 14mph in a vector with a collision course to another (parked) non moving vehicle or large object such as a wall. It takes literally milliseconds from impact for the sensor to do its job and deploy the airbags. In a slow motion chain of commands if you can imagine it, you have barely even began to lunge forward from your front impact before all these sensors do their respective jobs and simultaneously fire and inflate the airbag module to cushion and absorb your forward momentum from colliding with the steering wheel or dash or windshield. Nissan's take on a failsafe. But it actually truly works!

      Amen, this man usually has some insider info. I think I know a guy when I need to hack my car.
      Quick question, the 14mph - is that in reference to a specific Nissan model? Because even during my junkyard/auction days I would see wrecks with pretty interesting airbag deployment patterns.

      @@EdBwoy It was mostly in their higher level cars that were equipped with Intelligent Cruise Control/Radar Cruise, electronic pretensioner seat belt systems, and occupancy weight sensors. So the Maxima from Nissan and a few Infiniti models like the Q45, G35, I35 and M35 and M45 that had the specced options. Started around 2002 with the Q45 and went onward.

    So light illuminated means airbag does not deploy 5:19 due to passenger not heavy enough and if light not illuminated 6:41 with nobody in seat airbag does not deploy just cuz you don't need it to.?Seems counter informative. I'd assume it's lit when the airbag is not engaged and the light is off when it's engaged.

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty much.
      *If light is OFF* - "Don't worry, nothing to see here."
      *If light is ON* - "I know you're expecting the airbag to protect this occupant, but FYI we are going to hold the airbag for their safety."
      I initially thought a clear ON/OFF indicator would be better, but upon further thought you notice that all your other airbag lights stay off when functioning normally. You only get SRS system lights to illuminate when there is an issue.
      So the way I see it, this only illuminates temporarily to indicate that for the given occupant, the system will not function normally.
      I've seen it done other ways by other manufacturers...as well as newer models of the same manufacturer.

      @@petertsai09 when I removed the bag at 6:41, the airbag was actually OFF since the seat was unoccupied.
      The warning light went off because it had no reason to warn me about the airbag. That's the scenario I referenced when I said, *"If the light is off, no need to panic."*

    The main question is how to disable this system completely because it is a perfect example of a bad design. Nobody needs this, it causes only problems for passengers. Unfortunately this video does not answer the question.

      @John-gi3es ปีที่แล้ว

      Remove it

    • @hatem0
      @hatem0 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why bad design. Its main function is to protect a child if seated on the front seat, so the air bag will not deploy. This is a regulation.
      I will quote from my nissan manual:" The purpose of the regulation is to help reduce the risk of injury or death from an inflating airbag to certain front passenger seat occupants such as children, by requiring the airbag to be automatically turned off. Certain sensors are used to meet the requirements."

    • @KIVagant
      @KIVagant ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hatem0 It _is_ a bad design. Because the idea is to protect tiny children riding in REAR-facing seats and preschoolers and young school-aged children who are not properly restrained. This means that this kind of situation can happen in 0.0...01% of the time I use my car. The entire people population, let's say, have a maximum of 2% of infants less than 1 y.o. In theory, only some percentage of that amount can be carried around by a parent that decided to put the child in the front seat. Only some of that amount will have a car seat facing head forward. So why all other light-weighted passengers should be put at risk of critical injuries because of these stupid sensors that decide who deserves the protection and who does not based on the idea of "normal weight"? Who decided what is normal? I wish I could see that man because I doubt he understands how people even look outside his garage.
