  • In this video we take a bunch of my biggest and baddest predator streamer flies underwater in a local lake. Watch the swimming motion of the Monster Bugger, Strip Tiger, Nightwatchman and a bunch of other streamers for pike, musky, bass and large trout. Some articulated and some on single hooks.
I also tell the story and share my thoughts behind some of these fly designs, and give tips to when, where and how to fish them.
Tying tutorial videos on most of these streamers can be found on our TH-cam channel on these links:

Keep these type of videos coming please. I personally like how it gives us beginners an idea of how to work the fly to entice the fish👌🏾🎣

Awesome patterns Michael. They all look great, all have fantastic action in the water. But that Nightwatchman explodes with flash on the pause, like a strobe, then disappears. Very close to a modern hard bait. The Barred Blue Zonker is a great shad pattern. Thanks Michael & Ulla, great job!

By the way...Michael... I tied your night watchmen in a jig design and it is outstanding fishing for smallmouth at night on main lake points. Believe it or not, I have also incorporated the night watchmen on my custom designed short arm spinner baits and have caught several smallmouth over 6 pounds on Lake Pickwick in Northern Alabama. The black and purple really stand out on full moon nights which I normally don't like to fish. I always do better on dark moon nights rather then the full moon nights but the night watchmen pattern does well on bright moon nights for some reason. The night watchmen pattern is hard to beat in my water at night. I have also experimented subbing the purple with red and there is no doubt the purple gets more bites. Just an incredible color pattern.

Thanks for the bonus info, Alex. Allways great to hear how my patterns do in other environments and with other species. Adds more value to everyone. Thanks. Those puple shades are some of the last colors to disapear in low light conditions. Cheers, Michael 🙂

Michael....you are a true master of your passion. The underwater footage of your patterns are unbelievable. Not only are you an outstanding fly tier, your ability to translate the action on camera is outstanding. I am sure Ulla was freezing while standing in the water but you guys really captured your designs in natural settings which gives us viewers real time perspectives. Great job Michael and great job Ulla. You guys are one heck of a team. Keep them coming guys. Cheers to both of you!

Looking awesome! How are your experiences with the rubber bands added to streamers? Either I have poor quality or they seem very vulnerable to me while fishing. They do add to the fly’s catching abilities but I am looking for a good brand of the rubber bands

Thanks Dirk. You are right about the rubber band being fragile and short lived. I use silicone legs instead most of the time (skirts for jigs and other bass lures). They are much stronger. I have used several brands, and all seems be of good quality. And as you say they add to the flies' catchability. Cheers, Michael :0)
