    Union Pacific Railroad Florin Flyer local freight train switches off the UP Placerville Branch onto the Mather Spur for Pacific Supply passing the Mather Field Road railroad crossing several times in Rancho Cordova, California. This crossing was specifically designed to not include the spur track in the protection.

    This crossing also has two no right turn blank ouy signals.
    This crossing owmed by SACRT is an mixed install with the gatef signals on the southern (far) side being SACRT Late 1990s signal installs with bell, a couple of lights one on cantilever and one on shoulder, gate, gate lights, mechanisms, and counterweight arms changed from the original install equipment. The two gateless signals and two gated signals near the intersection are an SACRT Early 2000s Type B signal install with gate, gate lights, mechanisms, counterweight arms, and a base change for the turn lane. The yellow flasher is a SACRT early 2000s install.

    Always interesting to see some of the local fauna in action. In other news, did they never think about putting a crossing circuit on that spur?

    1:59 dangerous crossing failure. You can clearly see how close to a collision with the white SUV the locomotvie came even when going at a snails pace. 2:21 premature lifting of the barriers. Such a crossing should never have become a silent zone. An acciedent is just waiting to happen.

      This isn't a quiet zone for freight trains. The spur track isn't included in the crossing circuitry. Its been like that for decades here.
