The sound of this song is just... so sad, but the lyrics are all about a brighter future. It's absolutely beautiful. Of course, Yoko Kanno shows us why she's one of the best composers of our time.
just started this show, first episode gave me a familiar feeling like when I first watched fooly cooly, when I read that nobody dies I started crying tears of relief I’m always used to the best ones dying
I watched this series when I was finishing my undergraduate study in US. Alone in a faraway country without any friends or families to rely on. It was calming listening to this while I'm walking on the snow to classes. The cold, the bright white, the loneliness, all seem so vivid everytime I listen to this song.
This song...it makes wanna just lay under the stars and watch the dark, endless night sky as the world around me begins to slow to a stop and share that kind of experience with some one close to my heart.
I am going to be honest, i watched this show around two weeks ago and just finished it last night due to a guy named wakymodder84. I watched it for 3 reasons: 1: The Turn A looked alien as hell to me and i was curious as hell to see what type of gundam it was. 2: Loran is said to be a perfect Pacifist, something that even the great Kira Yamato (AKA: Jesus Yamato, AKA: The 4th worst Anime Mary sue/Gary stu in history), and 3: That Turn A is said to be the most POWERFUL GUNDAM IN EXISTENCE.! So i gave the show a shot and watched the first 10 or 15 episodes...then later stopped up until i reached thirty, and finished the rest last night. To put things as shortly as i can with this, this show was perhaps one of my most favorite ANIME show up to date. I was more interested in the characters, the situations and the conflicts than the fights in it, and this is coming from the guy who loves G Gundam due to the fact that it had more fights scenes of Gundams there than the majority of the other Gundam shows. This shoe was perfet, at least until it dipped as bit in the last half of it, but was still good none the less. And the Turn A, i just love the damn this so much now. I still remember when i first saw it Gundam Dynasty Warriors and thought 'What the hell is that thing, that don't look like a gundam' and avoided playing it. Now i love the mother fucker so much that it's 3rd in my top five favorite gundams. There is one word that represent how i feel when i finished with the show: Content. I was content with it and would recommend it to anyone that want to watch a good gundam show.
I totally agree, I watched Turn A because the looks of the Gundam was really odd, but I ended up loving it and the story was superb. It fits into the other Gundam franchise so well despite being much more hopeful compared to most.
I feel you, Fire Assassin. This anime is in the list of those cartoon that exceed the simple entertainment. I love it a lot but my prefered Gundam is Gundam 00.
Okay let's break down the instruments we hear in this song: 1. Human Voice 2. Organ 3. Harp 4. Synthesizer 5. Drums 6. Piano 8. Violins 9. Morin Khur (A traditional Mongolian string instrument) I swear Yoko Kanno is a once in a generation talent...
Back in the early days of my anime fandom, I remember shunning Macross Plus because Super Play gave it 7/10 score, but I saw the advert for it on some shitty Mangle Entertainment OVA and instantly was hooked, not by the mecha or the gorgeous animation but by the haunting song that played. When I got the first OVA on VHS, I pretty much wore out the ending credits because I listened to the Torch Song so many times. It was also my first ever MP3 and the first ever anime OST I bought. Yoko Kanno has been insanely important in my life. Her music kept me sane in the army. Even after all these years, her music still sounds just as wonderful as it did back in the late 90s. She has amazing talent, but is only recognized by a small niche audience. It's a pity.
Freakishly amazing. This is one of the best Gundam series because of the fact that it is nothing like the rest of Gundam. And this is one of the best Gundam theme songs because it also breaks the mold. Absolutely beautiful
Very beautiful theme, just beautiful. God, do I wish Turn A Gundam would get officially licensed for the US. Bandai announced they were working on the series for the US at Comic Con back in 2010, but then you never heard anything about it.
Turn-A Gundam takes its story very seriously - It's definitely amongst my Gundam favorites (I enjoyed Stargazer, SEED and SEED Destiny, Double O, Unicorn, and currently even AGE - in which I really like their timeskips to new 'eras', it feels like something new.)
Gshadow007 G-reco is trying but failing miserably, yeah theres a ton of effort but none of it is resulting in pay off, at least in destiny bad or not there were characters, G-reco has emotionless husks paraded as characters going through a nonsensical plot that info drips worse than that of even the awful captian earth
Well at least the characters weren't Mary Sues and Gary Stus, as Emotionless and flat G-Reco's characters can be I would take that over One Dimensional BS. On the bright side, at least G-Reco is animated well. Seed Destiny was just stock footage that would make Wing, Sailor Moon and Macross 7 blush. Granted, Tomino's way of thinking is outdated by today's standards, but for his age he's probably giving it all he's got, that or the dude is just fucking crazy.
Gshadow007 well it looks good in doses, the action is nice(sadly shallow story wise though) but outside of the action scenes the series looks quite poor at points, and G-reco's charaacters are 1 dimensional bs and none of the characters save kilm have any real motivation or character to them, like berrli's only defining features is a shit eating grin, gary stu ability to be better than everyone else in combat even when fighting more experienced newtypes and that he wants to bang his sister. Thats all there is to this character And tomino's way of thinking is less dated and more so he went into G-reco with the worst mindset, he was angry making G-reco and is trying to make statements on how the relief efforts during the japanese earthquake a few years back were, and hes doing this by trying to portray adults as idiots in G-reco (remember when the amry just let them steal the gundam and switch side sin ep 3, THATS why that happened as retarded as that is) He went in so hell bent on telling a message full of malice that he failed not only at telling this message but failed to make a show as a whole
Turn A's ending was so beautiful the way it tied every single Gundam series before it into it's Black History and the conclusion of Turn A. It made you feel like this was the end of Gundam. Not the absolute end or anything, it was last one Tomino directed. It still opened a new gate way. As Char once said "The old generation cannot build the new era". Seed was terrilbe and 00 was okay from what I heard. Hopefully Age is good. We need a writer to direct an awesome Gundam series.

One of the greatest Gundams ever made, with by far the best soundtrack in the series. Too bad it was poorly received it's far better than a lot of the other Gundams that usually make it in the top 5 *cough* Gundam Seed *cough*.
I agree, the series is great but I think the thing that discourage people is the MS design. I was actually surprise on how many people actually live till the end.
@@AnakinSkyobiliviator Its not that surprising how many people didn't die at the end when you look at Tomino's works at the time. He began this paradigm with Brain Powerd, a series also scored by Yoko Kanji. Also as an interesting aside, the MS design, primarily Turn A and Turn X, were done by French comic book artist Moebius, who was well know for his work on the Silver Surfer series.
I mean, in the context of Tomino's earlier works (including the first Gundam, where the novelization had Amuro killed off) it was surprising. But I guess at the time, it was better since he had just emerged from his depression.
The best ending And I'm definitely a great fan of Gundam ( i've see all Gundam Series in VO-ST xD ) And my favorite Anime...slow at the begining but fast after...I want more Gundam Serie like that !
Same here mate, literally just finished the show tonight after a month and a half of watching it. Still don't know how to feel about the ending though. It ties up quite a lot, but there's still plenty of things like sochie being just shafted.
I came back to listen because I'm about to reach the last episode, I'm rewatching Turn A while watching it as a friend's first Gundam show. I rewatched the last episode in advance to know if a box of tissues would be necessary... Needless to say, I'm going to the store to buy a box of tissues tomorrow.
Until now I always thought the vocalist for this song was Romi Park, who voiced Loran Cehack, the hero and pilot of the eponymous Gundam. I stand corrected by your posts (and does Aki Okui ever do a brilliant job!)... But still, the voices are so strikingly alike I'm still finding it hard to believe that they're two different people.
@Godzilla2000X I dunno, it was fairly comprehensive in its technology as well, given the I-Field Drive System, the concept behind the design of the Turn A and Turn X, or even their powerplants. I don't mind the idea of seeing 'Zakus' in the series, but I did mind that no other MS made it from other universes, especially Gundams. Sure, certain technologies made it, like the Shining Finger, or the Mobile Trace System, but it wouldn't hurt to see other MS besides monoeyes or a GM wannabe.
In other words, 1) People tend to crave death and destruction, and the various feels associated with them, which explains Zeta's popularity 2) Turn A is considered the "hipster gundam" by many
@Godzilla2000X How exactly did talking to ghosts (complete with making dead MS come back to life) support itself? How did little TBR making giant blast blowing colonies support itself? Or rainbow Skittles from psychoframe pushing a rock support itself? Or how the heck did pixie dust, the result of a powersource that utilizes topological defects, manage to transform humans precisely into near ageless psychics support itself? Moonlight Butterfly was merely not revealed for 40 odd eps.
@Godzilla2000X Sense? This is a franchise that included things like talking to ghosts, pushing giant rocks with rainbow Skittles, a psycho woman who's idea of testing a kid's NT abilities by jumping naked into a bubble bath, dinky beam rifles capable of blowing up fortresses with no noticeable recharge needed, men breaking MS with a scarf, and as of now, a little MS capable of hundred mile long beam shots and beam sabers along with psychic pixie dust, and you're talking about sense? :P
@Godzilla2000X It's a little more of a headache when you consider that the MS that did survive aren't exact duplicates of the UC MS to begin with. The 'Custom' Borjornan is supposed to be the Zaku I, yet lacks a fin on the head. The Kapool is not the same as the Capule with the different skirt. The Gallop in Turn A is MUCH smaller than in MSG. The Zssan has a shoulder pod while the Zssa does not. So if anyone tries to fit things nicely, the question is 'what are those MS doing here?'
@Amurutimate Well, this was definitely the last Gundam series that Yoshiyuki Tomino directed, at least. I don't think it was ever intended to be the absolute end of the Gundam franchise, (at least from a marketing perspective) but definitely the et al end for every timeline that has been or will be in Gundam. Besides, Turn A takes place in such a distant future that it feels like they left it open for many more possible "prequels".
@oyametalicus That does NOT translate to 'not as many who hate TAG'. That simply means TAG is either less known or less talked about, and THAT is something I don't disagree with especially since 00 and SEED are the two newest series and UC is still the main universe.
Actually V-Gundam is considered by most to be one of the best Gundams, usually behind Z-Gundam of course. Tomino hated it, but that's because of a dispute with Sunrise which led to it being the darkest Gundam series to date. He felt that he had taken it out on the series, which he did. But since Gundam's story makes its biggest impact through pathos, or the extreme drama that happens after the death of an important character, it made this story both hard to watch, and hard to leave.
You could imagine that you walking in an ancient but beautiful shrine ruin in all white stone, reading the message on those heavily weathered marbled wall, realizing their splendid civilzation has disappeared in thin air million years ago, their flourished culture being forsaken, and the beautiful priestess who seek help in your dream, already deep in the tomb. You shake your heads in regret and misery, that you have born far too late to save them......
@Amurutimate It may have something to do with the fact that it takes place millennia after all of the Universal Century Gundam series (they call the ∀ timeline the 'Correct Century'), thereby depriving it of any connection with ANY of the Gundam series, including the non-UC/CC Gundams. But X suffered the worst fate, and only because they moved that show from late-Friday afternoon to Saturday pre-dawn. I wonder if they still have the scripts for the final 10 or 11 episodes of X, to finish it.
was a amazing show ok the beginning was pretty slow (lame) but i build up an story arc which was awesome. and its explain why there suddenly Zaku´s^^ in my eyes the perfect ending of the U.c. timeline
@SkillrSilvia I have to admit. It appeals to a different audience than all the other gundam series, which is why it has such a small following. However, it is the most developed story so far. It relies less on death and more on life.
@oyametalicus Yes, we already know how Setsuna became an Innovator. That's still not technology supporting the weirdness. No one expected those same miracle particles, the same ones that were supposed to be byproducts of the solar furnaces, to not only mutate a human being, but mutate them so precisely. It simply came out of nowhere, and thus we simply filed that knowledge in as something else miracle particles can do.
@BiometalZ haha! x) And im glad there are more Turn A fans out there. I usally get descriminated for being a Turn A fan. ppl hate the idea of difference I guess. Maybe ppl should give Turn A a chance. instead of ditching it the 5th episode...
@Godzilla2000X Of course, the Moonlight Butterfly has also been shown to wrap itself around the mobile suit as well, and do so rather quickly, so it's not like those nanomachines will only limit itself to the back. :P Then there's the part where it was able to incoming fire along with encasing and/or turning things to ash. Ont he other hand, agreed, Destiny really ain't all that. Frankly, SEED MS ain't all that. 00Q or Devil, though...
@oyametalicus Because they ARE miracle particles. :P Think, those things are a result of a new powersource with the added bonus of jamming radio frequencies, jam radar, create forcefields, beam fire/blades, cloak to invisibility, coat solids to make them tougher, cause funky QBW weirdness, and change humans into near ageless psychics with other physical enhancements. Only Minovsky Particles come close. :P If you accept that, MB is acceptable.
That White Doll need to show up again! This time....showing the world how "Dark History" started! I know the ending will be bad, with Moonlight Butterfly...but I want to see the conflict that leads up to there!
Anakin Skyobiliviator yeah that's. The one thing I don't get with turn a it you never fond out much about the mechs and victory gundam is really sad and upsetting. Bandai wouldn't let tomino have control just to sell more toys
I watched the series and the movie comps, gotta say, if you are gonna watch it properly you gotta do the full series. The movies cut out so many important scenes, not just really cool battles, but also a lot of character development gets overly streamlined and cut down. The film version also kinda just cuts out a large part of them getting to the moon in the first place.
For me it was definitely the ruination of the old characters (outside of Athrun who was actually pretty well used in this series) and the nullification of Mu's sacrifice. That was the most heart wrenching scene in the original Seed and it was a wonderful part that was ruined by Destiny's storyline (this coming from someone who's favorite Seed character is Mu).
The first half of Turn A was intentionally slower-paced to help setup everything properly. The Characters, The Setting, The Plot, etc.... It may seem boring at first, but it's for a reason in this case.
@oyametalicus You don't have to. All you need to do is look out for the fandom and see how they feel about this newer trilogy. Then again, all you need to do is also look within the Gundam fandom as well. There's a reason why older series like the original MS Gundam or Zeta are hailed as classics, while, say, SEED Destiny is regarded as trash. Newer does NOT always triumph over old.
@AegisKHAOS I think my beef with Turn A is that its not a very technical oriented Gundam story. That and they were digging up Zaku. Out of all the mobile suits in the Gundam timeline you mean to tell me a few Zaku survived Turn A apocalyspe? That one made my me scratch me head.
The sound of this song is just... so sad, but the lyrics are all about a brighter future. It's absolutely beautiful. Of course, Yoko Kanno shows us why she's one of the best composers of our time.
A gundam show where no "main" characters die and where the masked "antagonist" isn't really the villain. Nothing but love for this series.
They have a bit too less characters for them to die. Unlike the other shows where they have a colony full of extras to die

Tsuki no Mayu and Moon were the reasons I relented and watched Turn A Gundam. No regrets since. Even have a handful of the show's music. ^^
I completely agree. It's one of the best and most peaceful songs ever. I could listen to it for days and never get sick of it.
the most peaceful song I ever heard and when I hear it reminds me of turn a gundam and my childhood
Whenever i hear this song i just think about how hard Sochie got shafted in the end and i'm still kinda pissed
Just heard Kiryu Coco singing this on her Karaoke stream. Beautiful song
Its called Tsuki no Mayu, Moon Cocoon in english translation :)
MOONEARTH
Thanks a bunch dude, they're are so many Dj Sharpnel songs i couldn't find it for the life of me.
2022 come back to hear this
*Manly tears*
I started watching this series and never did get back to finishing it. I will have to do it.
Yup, still makes me cry. Just checking in.
Needless to say, I'm going to the store to buy a box of tissues tomorrow.
love this song, so very emontional
upon first hearing this song, I thought it was very similar to the ones I heard in Macross Plus. Turned out they were composed by the same person.
god damn Turn A was fucking amazing, this is the magnum opus of the franchise for me, best music, best gundam design, best characters in my opinion.
i remember watching this when i was like 12, cried like a baby at the end.
Turn A Gundam I definitely an anime need to see again.
Simplemente hermoso tema...
Wonderful...
Sweet amv! Love Turn A Gundam. There should be a few more amvs of this show on youtube.

Excessively beautiful
Love this song, it sounds so inspiring.
In other words,
1) People tend to crave death and destruction, and the various feels associated with them, which explains Zeta's popularity
2) Turn A is considered the "hipster gundam" by many
@Maxrev TYYYYY, Gah Turn A was a great series. Ppl really need to realize that before judging the STRONGEST Gundam IN History.
This song + Altron Custom in space with its arms folded the earth....badass
@Godzilla2000X It's a little more of a headache when you consider that the MS that did survive aren't exact duplicates of the UC MS to begin with. The 'Custom' Borjornan is supposed to be the Zaku I, yet lacks a fin on the head. The Kapool is not the same as the Capule with the different skirt. The Gallop in Turn A is MUCH smaller than in MSG. The Zssan has a shoulder pod while the Zssa does not. So if anyone tries to fit things nicely, the question is 'what are those MS doing here?'
blown away, all i have to say
TEARS

A powerful score.
the BEST theme ever made
@Amurutimate Well, this was definitely the last Gundam series that Yoshiyuki Tomino directed, at least.
DAMN LOVE THIS SONG!
awesome beautiful song...
No problem, Thanx for commenting :)
I wonder if they still have the scripts for the final 10 or 11 episodes of X, to finish it.
was a amazing show
ok the beginning was pretty slow (lame) but i build up an story arc which was awesome. and its explain why there suddenly Zaku´s^^
in my eyes the perfect ending of the U.c. timeline
couldn't agree with you moree....
Got to love some good Origa Moon playing! ^____^
I actually listened to this song while reading the end of the Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds manga for some reason.
It was Syd Mead. The designer who worked on Blade Runner.
best gundam ending
@Godzilla2000X Of course, the Moonlight Butterfly has also been shown to wrap itself around the mobile suit as well, and do so rather quickly, so it's not like those nanomachines will only limit itself to the back. :P Then there's the part where it was able to incoming fire along with encasing and/or turning things to ash.
Ont he other hand, agreed, Destiny really ain't all that. Frankly, SEED MS ain't all that. 00Q or Devil, though...
The song it's...epic...
91 people enjoyed the series, 1 person didn't want it to end
Watch all of gundam leading up to turn a there you gi
I did, all except Reconguesta in G and Victory Gundam. What I meant is to see Turn A again, prior to Moonlight Butterfly.
Anakin Skyobiliviator yeah that's. The one thing I don't get with turn a it you never fond out much about the mechs and victory gundam is really sad and upsetting. Bandai wouldn't let tomino have control just to sell more toys
magnasupreme Yeah. I want to see Turn A turn tech into sand and what was the situation that is so bad that force him to do it.
when turn A came out it was widely hated in japan it wasnt until recently that it has begone to pick up in japan
nice song from this anime series in 1999 - 2000!!!
That sounds pretty fitting actually.
Physalis is a nuclear gundam, the Double X Gundam and the Wing Zero are also one of the strongest gundams are known
Actually, Tomino wasn't involved in ZZ for a while. It wasn't until he came back in that it whipped around in story.
It may seem boring at first, but it's for a reason in this case.
ideal for a "grand finale" sequence...
best from turnA OsT cya...
