When did you complete, accepting you is not a problem but if you want to apply for student loans you must follow the criteria for you to be accepted, one of it is that you must apply 3 years after finishing grade 12. So if you rewrite within 3 years it's ok for you and make sure to combine the results.
That's even better, go ahead and apply. If you are going on self sponsorship there are no conditions just apply as long as you have the best six subjects including maths and English
