I think the crunchy synth part in Break My Lying Tongue helps create a great contrast with the eventual synth tone in the solo, and also with the rest of the arrangement. I admittedly think it's an extremely cool tone but I can TOTALLY understand why someone would find it irritating, haha! And since it's Vola, you really can't pick on any of the other pieces of the arrangement because they're just so damn good! You will get your wish for more harsh vocals from Asger, btw... ;)
'Friend Of A Phantom', is a prog titanium amorous metal. When it gets hot, it'll combine with any sub-genre 🤣 The best prog-metal album I've ever experienced, and I'm old enough hahaha to have experienced a generation of prog albums over the decades. VOLA captures the emotions of every emblematic musical instrumentation and external velocity & ferocity to the music which is modern. No other band has really captured the emotions that VOLA have, at least in the same genre. One of the most versatile vocalists of his generation. VOLA can play any genre and still sound modern live. It's almost like the Yin & Yang of lyrism, as you have the dark side and the bright side, within the lyrics of the tracks. It's about absorbing the knowledge of experience the music whitin the lyrics from everyone around you. I realish the diversity VOLA have in the music, the basic fundamentals of music theory is key signatures, pitches, intervals, scales, chords, etc... that provides the formulas to form and structure harmonies/melodies/rhythms then verse/chorus/bridge. It may be complicated, but it's the secret ingredients that manifests an aspect formula to form that everything in between classtic album, as demonstrated in these tracks. VOLA have steel with a winning mentality, it's in their bood and DNA which deserves more recognition worldwide. I have believe and confidence VOLA will and not in any psychological condition to give up that 'FOAP' will be best prog-metal album of the year (2024). Gwan.. VOLA.. bring it home boys, don't take a step back in 2025! smiley faces. Cmon.. VOLA!!! take risks, evolve and embrace character like a boss. The peoples band coming together. VOLA are on an elite level, I can't express this enough. Take pride in family heritage kids. Lets do it! we are better in unity then what we can achieve in the future.
