An extremely informative episode.
Why is there a need to dehumanise amaThwasana? I feel that it is one of the heinous practices of initiation school that have somehow been normalised and it is encouraged to "swear at by initiates using body parts that they don't know where to even look for" to use the words of Mkhulu. To debate the ethics is only the tip of the iceberg.
Additionally, I feel that this practice started because someone suffered and said "because I suffered, everyone after me should as well". Yes, strictness is necessary but not at the cost of psychological health of initiates. They already come to initiation school weary, only to have to be dehumanized even more. I am speaking from an outsider perspective, so I would love to be enlightened as to the necessity of this practice. Growing thick skin is 100% not a valid answer. There must be a more critical reason.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed this episode. And thanks for the awesome facilitation Chef.

Gogo Dabula is 100%right, divination by bones is more a mechanical practice,its actually more like gambling. To prove that ask your sangoma to do it one more time after he finishes ukuhlola with bones, they will land differently meaning different interpretation. Its just mechanics using bones...

NDAUWE…munchies Tanx for the great content highly appreciate it. Here is a situation that many do not engage on when it comes to umlanjwana. If UGogo lo uzala uma wasn’t married when uma was born it means uma belongs to ka bo malume…grannies family that is, Gogo gets married into a new surname …then uma faces the same situation as uGogo and gives birth out of wedlock and it is a boy child…whose names ,surnames and amasiko does that child take…? (N.B uGogo is now married to someone and not he who fathered uMa)
