For the life of me I never understood why they call it “human resource management.” If anything it should be called company protection management because you’re not managing anything from the human resource side of it, you’re protecting the company from a lawsuit! And yes, I am speaking from experience.
exactly... The absolute SCOURGE of the entire job market right now: H.R. departments and Marketing departments. They have UNRESTRICTED power inside companies, they don't account for anyone and they cause mass havoc both to the company and potential talents that could be recruited. And they are usually the most well paid salaries too, for actively destroying companies from within. I still remember the pain and HUMILIATION it was having to go to these stupid job interviews where my entire life would be judged out of a fucking resume piece of paper and having to subject myself to stupid invasive humiliating questions, most of them not even having to do anything with the technical part of the job itself. There must be a way that we can reclaim power out there, but I have no idea where to begin. The saddest part about all this is that when I joined the labor market around 2005 there was nothing of this crap, at least in the region I live, interviews were a straight-forward process and were done directly with the supervisor or manager of the department I would work on, or in the case of smaller companies directly with the owner, nothing of having to please some random H.R. person that knows nothing about my trade. I really feel for these kids today that think all of this is normal. This is an abomination of the past 10-15 years.

this is fascinating... you should make a channel telling about your life experiences... we in the West know very little about how China really is like (mostly because their own government... the actual people that I met from there were mostly funny people that were always down to having fun and being helpful)
so tell us what is like being a foreign student in china? does the government offer free university programs? is there such a thing? can you find cheap or free housing while studying? after the studies are done, do you have change of finding employment or do you have to get out of the country? does the country let you rent a home or share with others if you wish? is government restrictive? tell us more
This is glorious, I been tryin to find out about "what are the objectives of resource allocation?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Seyily Substratal Smasher - (just google it ) ? It is a smashing one off product for discovering how to get amazing project management and business templates minus the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend got amazing results with it.
Do I have use HR against my boss? She was upset I had signed up for a one-person shift. The manager below her rank (a 24/25-year-old man) is supposed to organize and keep an eye on who works which shifts on the schedule. Our boss scolded him for not noticing I had signed up to go solo for a coffee service, I believe. When she asked him if she thought I could do the shift, I answered for him with a firm "yes," because I felt belittled by her. She said she didn't think so, was all "I've told you not to sign up for shifts by yourself, I've been very clear about that, I don't know how much clearer I can get for you to listen" (something like, that, so I'm not perfectly quoting her), and she told me I need someone there to give me instructions and guide me. That was very insensitive and harsh, and I think that if she said that to a person with a learning disability, they would be hurt and deem her a bigot. I should've told her that, to make a point to her about tact. Can I go to HR for this?
God please protect my income, employment, work, health, and career. Please remove and delete all negative comments from my work records. God please continue to bless my human resource management services. Thank you & Amen 🙏🏼

I agree that the pinwheel model is very informative. Just some constructive feedback: after showing the pinwheel model, you moved on to reiterating what was in the pinwheel model, which wasn't helpful as you were just reading off the slides. As the audience, we can read the slides ourselves so it wasn't adding any value. What I would recommend is providing some examples of those activities you have mentioned, which would have made it more informative and comprehensive. Thanks for the video though!
Since this seems to be the most relevant comment about it i'll complement to this thread instead of a new one. Nowhere i could find any academic reference or source of this "pinwheel model" and the ones i find literally took this video as reference. Would be super nice if there were a book or a paper where this is described in practice as well for us to read a technical basis for and see what the results are.
The video talks about Human Resource Management mainly the history, roles and its model . HRM began in early 1900s and continue to develop over time. The roles of HR manager comprises of strategic, operational and administrative tasks with different function each. Pinwheel model is the model of HRM as it centers eight key functional areas.
Hi from down here those that actually work on the shop floors. If you were a H/R Manager for a Temp Service and had to attend a meeting with an International Corporation would you arrive at the meeting dressed in common blue Jean's and a common house wear shirt? Yes we aren't the smartest. Yet we still see the DOWNGRADE in buisness protocol.

Thank you for this video! So informative
Do you guys recommend taking HRM as a mojor??
No, it can be learnt on the job. if interested in a career in HR look up an administrative role which supports HR, or just do an HR certification.
This is a great video!
