I both love Baki's ability to read an opponent, and the dude with the sword yanking it back, and calling him an idiot, when he tried to give himself a fatal wound. He might want to use it, but a sword is tool for killing an enemy (why I always preferred the quarter staff, killing is a choice but not the only option, and much less chance to be the accidental one), and Baki can tell he's not there to kill. He just wants to see Baki give him the same treatment he gives the big guy, and thinks the sword will give him that.
