The guy is amazing. He plays drums like Keith Moon, can play guitar like Dave Gilmour, plays bass like McCartney and can write songs and sing like Lennon. No wonder all he needed was a digital multitrack to make it....
If he did nothing in his life but play drums, he'd still be considered a phenomenal musician. Jesus. There are people famous for just playing drums at this level. And he did that and wrote produced and played every instrument on some mind blowing recordings.
have you heard of Jay Watson? plays drums like that... played on 9 Pond albums, 5 GUM albums, and believe it or not... played on Tame Impala albums as well. (listen to the fade out of "Wander")
Everyone in this comment section is raving about Kevin, he's a great musician and he's a true musical genius, but nick Albrook's work with pond is truly underrated.
I knew all of these guys were good, nay great musicians before, when I heard them in Pond/Tame Impala. Now I see them in Mink Mussel Creek, and I just can't believe the calibre these guys are at, at such a young age. Mad respect for all of these dudes.
Damn didnt know kevin played drums in mink mussel creek! thats cool how they can be in different bands and respect and play each others music. Australians must me some chill cats
Amazing video and a nostalgia kick. I remember going to the occasional MMC gig around Freo back in the day. I can confidently say that no one at the time was thinking ‘that drummer will headline Coachella one day’. Awesome.
Been a big tame Impala fan and pond fan and had never heard of mink muscle creek until a few hours ago looked them up live and saw Kevin on the drums then it made sense
I reckon this is the same kit from tame impala ep kevin said some of those songs drums were recorded in the Norfolk basement and that's where the description says this is but it's very likely they were replaced at somepoint. What a time capsule tho amazing musicians all of them
kevin on drum reminds me of john bonham. those triplets fills and that '60/'70 drumming style. oh yeah, ginger baker and bonham had an influence on him.
You can't deny the direction he's gone in, but watching this and other old footage, there's something about his stoner rock era sound that is fucking amazing. I hope the next Tame record features a variation of styles
@douglasfilm the LP was released, this was filmed at the 2nd night of the launch, has only been released on USB wristbands so far, due to be released later in the year on vinyl apparently :) and I think they were only sold at the show. hope thats helpful.
First of all, is this a song (and if it is, what is it.) or is it a jam cause damn. I'm trying to drum like John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell's, Keith moon, especially Kevin parker, and the whole lot of them. Great inspiration just blooms with gusto
Francisco Nabor this song is makeout party girls by mink mussel creek. The main thing you gotta do to drum like the old guys is SWING. Very very very very very important
i was about to comment about kevin's drums, but i read some comments before and i realized that's not necessary, everybody saw what i see and i'm not the only one amazed
how it says preview, does that mean that the whole show will be released, I was at the friday night gig, which was memorizing :) please say you will upload the whole thing :)
I've never seen footage of Kevin on drums until now. Holy shit..
+Louis Addeo-Weiss actually he played drums for pond in the first album
he played drums on Beard,Wives and Denim
There's a video of Half full glass live with him playing drums and he kicks so much ass
+Anugerah Ardiansyah not quite. he played drums on Ponds 3rd and 4th albums.
Coldacre Kev only played on Beard, Wives and Denim
The guy is amazing. He plays drums like Keith Moon, can play guitar like Dave Gilmour, plays bass like McCartney and can write songs and sing like Lennon. No wonder all he needed was a digital multitrack to make it....
He's way better than all of them. In my opinion
Kevin is tremendous and one of the best artists of our time, but let's not get carried away.
Kevin Parker, one of the greatest musicians of all time.
no cap
many people overlook he’s also one of the greatest drummers in music history. The drums on tame impala records are truly something else
*Nick Allbrook, one of the greatest musicians of all time
@@sovka8394ok that’s a bit of an overstatement. I love him and he’s a great drummer, but not one of the greatest drummers ever
He’s like Eric Clapton but multi instrumentalist
Kevin is frustratingly talented.
It feels like no matter how respected as an artist he is, it's just not enough.
how to be humble in a world where people naturally tear each other down, I do not know
@@VelveteenRecords1994 Bigger place than Australia mate lol
Kevin is making sweet, sweet love to those drums!
@@coldacre kevin parker is a better drummer than jay watson
it's really hot seeing kevin on drums
so true, DAMN
Everyone in this comment section is raving about Kevin, he's a great musician and he's a true musical genius, but nick Albrook's work with pond is truly underrated.
Nick's the true genius from Perth. but ...but.... *fap fap* KEVIN!
Don’t forget shiny Joe!
Omg Kevin on the drums was amazing!
I knew all of these guys were good, nay great musicians before, when I heard them in Pond/Tame Impala. Now I see them in Mink Mussel Creek, and I just can't believe the calibre these guys are at, at such a young age. Mad respect for all of these dudes.
i cant imagine how many songs and amazing stuff did kevin in his entire carreer, i need more of these videos
That drummer is very good, I hope he makes it one day.
Lol he definitely did
@@chloe.h3472 at the time of him posting that comment, his album was number 1 in Australia
Kevin Parker shred on every instrument he touches!
Damn Kevin kicks ass! He's such a natural. Everyone in Tame Impala with their side projects are so talented.
Everyone in Tame Impala is Kevin Parker
Damn didnt know kevin played drums in mink mussel creek! thats cool how they can be in different bands and respect and play each others music. Australians must me some chill cats
kevin on drums made my week, heart stopped for a second!!
He also does drumming on the tame Impala records though..

Bro Kevin Parker is one talented human being🤯
He has a lot of style on the kit. Makes it look easy, kinda flowy and effortless. Love that style of playing.
El es todo un genio!! Un musico completo!!

Coldacre Melange
Wow this is really amazing. Perth has great bands ♥♥
I wish the studio version sounded like this.
I love how much they get into it
Sounds like a cross between Blue Cheer & Hawkwind. 2 of my all time favorite bands. Nice!
This is legendary footage
wow.. Kevin on the drums..
I'm not just saying this because its Kevin, but shit he is so good
finally found the name of this song - "Makeout Party Girls".
Kevin is really channeling Bonham in this vid. Those fills are so sick especially that ending fill. I love this performance so much.
Kevin is my drum god. Hot damn
I reckon this is the same kit from tame impala ep kevin said some of those songs drums were recorded in the Norfolk basement and that's where the description says this is but it's very likely they were replaced at somepoint. What a time capsule tho amazing musicians all of them
kevin on drum reminds me of john bonham. those triplets fills and that '60/'70 drumming style. oh yeah, ginger baker and bonham had an influence on him.
the first drummer that sprang to mind for me was Bill Ward! that manic energy is totally Sabbath sounding.
You can't deny the direction he's gone in, but watching this and other old footage, there's something about his stoner rock era sound that is fucking amazing. I hope the next Tame record features a variation of styles
also he had ringo star
He also does drumming on tame Impala so there's that
Ginger Baker is one of the most under rated drummers ever.
Kevin reminds me how ginger baker would play drums
That drum fill at 1:35 tho..........
Ironically, only a really talented drummer would actually do a fill like that
@@YeshMCx I think he might be talking about the one at 1:33/4 but both are awesome in their own way.
looks like joe just walked out of a scooby-doo cartoon
they all play 3 different instruments in 3 different bands.....
Rarely To see his amazing drumming
@douglasfilm the LP was released, this was filmed at the 2nd night of the launch, has only been released on USB wristbands so far, due to be released later in the year on vinyl apparently :) and I think they were only sold at the show. hope thats helpful.
Watching this video was a pleasurable experience.
that triplet fill is so awesome
Very talented musicians ♥♥
Kevin es la verga en la bateria
nick destruindo tudo
those tempo changes are seamless and off the bloody head
1:25 holy fuck Kevin
Kevin is the best musician ever!
First of all, is this a song (and if it is, what is it.) or is it a jam cause damn. I'm trying to drum like John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell's, Keith moon, especially Kevin parker, and the whole lot of them. Great inspiration just blooms with gusto

Drums are badass
Oh how I wish I could have seen them live...
i just realized thats the kick drum he used to record his kicks on currents
that guitar riff is a straight rip of Sonic Youth’s Silver Rocket
i was about to comment about kevin's drums, but i read some comments before and i realized that's not necessary, everybody saw what i see and i'm not the only one amazed
WE WERE HIGH ON PANADOL, WITH THE MAKE-OUT PARTY, GO-GO-GO-GO GIRLS!
Love the rawness of Nick!!!!!!!! Kevin is fuckin brilliant.. I think tame impala tamed nick :)
So there's Mink Mussel Creek, Tame Impala, Pond...
Any other bands these guys play in, they're all very good.
Garlic Farm. Hahaa
Also Jay Watson’s solo project - it’s called GUM and is very good.
@simomacca12 No worries! That drived me nuts until they uploaded the song on their Facebook.
this is what i've heard yes. Though not before Tame Impala & Co get back from their current US/EU tour
kevin is on fire
@simomacca12 This songs called "Makeout Party Girls"
damn kevin can play! anybody know what kind of kit that is?
it's a drum kit
Tama Superstar with a Ludwig acrolite snare drum
Holy shitt...kev
God i wish we coulda seen that fill he did at 0:52
why did the cameraman have to do us like this 😅
How do they get that tambourine tone??
sickest music i’ve run into
kevin ownsss
la rencarnacion de led zeppelin.
On fire !
@94ddare Tame Impala, Pond and Mink Mussel Creek are pretty much the same group of people making music, they are all from the same scene.
look at Kevin fucking go
Kevin's hair is mesmerising!
@Psychedozzzer Haha, yeah, I've never seen him be lame.
Seriously, everything Kevin touches turns to gold, I swear!
Kevin Parker = The Australian Dave Grohl
Note to Kevin: wear a head band or a hat , leave that god damn fringe alone and just keep pumping those sweet tribal rhythm's! HOO RAA
Nice. Reminds me of Kyuss/Sleep et al. I hear there's an LP release this year some time. This true?
They are genius
Booooorn to be wild
Holy fuck! Kevin Parker is a fucking beast!
Is there anything this guy can't do?!
can someone tell me what country this was filmed in?
Fremantle, Western AUSTRALIA
Australia duh!
Anybody else out there have the USB wristband thingy? ✌🏼
Everyone is talking about Kevin, sad to see how no one is acknowledging Allbrook!
Does anyone know what guitar Nick is playing... the guy on the left? Thanks:)
how it says preview, does that mean that the whole show will be released, I was at the friday night gig, which was memorizing :) please say you will upload the whole thing :)
Jeez dude is Kevin in flip flops?
Any idea what cymbals Kevin was using here?
That tambourine players made quite a name for himself
What's the name of this song? please... thumb up
Is there a bass player that we can't see ?
Does anyone know where and who is playing bass on this? i can hear a bass but i see two guitars?
3:40 someone is in the dark at the far right playing bass it seems. Wonder why he's hiding.
