Started watching your channel after struggling so hard in color correction and grading at my first proper editor job. Although I didn't get your masterclass yet, your many free youtube videos are among the few that slowly help me self-learn from a total newbie. A sincere thank you for taking the time to create educational contents for striving filmmakers around the world.
Ok, I finally got to finish this one. I didn't want to rush it since it has so so so many good and useful things to learn about. Each shot you're describing it's like a tutorial in it's own. Like a mini-Masterclass! Brilliant! Thanks Qazi!
I must say I don’t agree with a lot of ways you do certain things but your results are stunning and super satisfying! It doesn’t matter how you get there!
Re-watching this with FCM Masterclass, can't stop taking notes, this is filled with golden tips and I'm sooo impressed at how far your primaries bring you ! :) I'll be grading a 5mn documentary in the next days, definitly worth taking in account all those advices to attack it :D
@@theqazman please teach us about how to import edl or xml and then confirming in timeline inside resolve... Please... Am just started learning from past few days and want to become a master colourist like you...
would love to see you play around with some Sony a7s3 or canon c70 footage! A lot of people testing it out I feel don't know how to get the most out of it in the grade, and I certainly don't either. But after seeing that one video you did where you made the footage SCREAM out of the a7iii I believe, the woman walking through the forest, I can't imagine the wonders you could do with these newer cameras that are shooting 10 bit, clog, slog3, 13+ stops of DR etc.
I can not say why but my highlights never pass 900 IRE it just looks so much natural...and then you say exactly this with Roger Deakins example...you made my day! Please keep strong!
Great to see these techniques. Would love to see you cover ways to make the most of really crappy low-bitrate footage from phones, zoom calls, and the like. Having to grade more and more of that these days....
Merci Kevin! Merci !
Watching the documentary in 4K (on the shared Vimeo link) I noticed a lot of noise. Electronic disturbing noise. In shots by different cameras. Is that Vimeo's compression? Is that a glitch on the final export? Any ideas? Thanks.
Waqas Qazi thanks for replying. What would be the most important or final screen for this project? Because, making sure how your work will finally be watched is, also, very important.
Is there a way to add time to a timeline? Instead of selecting the rest of the video and dragging it to the right? My audio runs into other audio and I need more room between clips. Add frames basically.
Thanks so much for these videos. Can't wait to start practicing this stuff! QQ.. you spoke about how you received the highres Pro-res file without any overlays. How do you provide the grade back to the editor? So they can input it back in and apply the overlays back on..? Or even make slight updates to the edit even..
Is Resolve meant to be an after edit color grading software? Like Importing a movie to be graded? Or is it just import a bunch of clips, edit and grade like most other editing software? Thanks!
You can use it for both but are use it for everything so I ingest footage and resolve edit and resolve sound design and resolve to my graphics in after effects bring those and resolve and then color and export from resolve
Qazi soon you will get 1 Million subs if you keep going this way. Hey man, If I write to you to your inbox and send you a link to judge the short film that I wrote edited directed and color graded. Can you give me some thoughts about the color? This is my second short and it's going to compete all over the world. Thanks man, hope to hear from you and never stop bro. Keep doing the fine work.
Dude thank you for these tutorials ! It's crazy we have access to such quality content for free.
Thank you

Hi Qazi, is this 2383 lut the one that comes with resolve? In that case why didnt you apply a CST to cineon curve? Thanks!

Perhaps i missed when you put the LUT. What kind of LUT that you were used? TIA
Yes. This oughta be interesting. Can’t wait.
😀❤️
BUUUM!! Value bomb like always🔥💣

Absolutely brilliant breakdown. But I was wondering why did you use a LUT instead of a CST?

Not sure cuz I don't notice any issues on my LG cx77
Waqas Qazi thanks for replying.

are you sure it’s not the film grain? I watched it just now, all I can see was film grain, not noise (except for one or two shots may be).

Nice Video ! If i have to send my finished project to a colorists like you what format should i send in ?
Amazing!! Qazi, is it possible for you to show how you would go about maybe grading iPhone footage?
Can i colour grade on S-LOG on sony a7ii ?? I think it’s only 8-bit
No colour management node ? CST ?
Why not transform to cineon before the lut? Is it the timeline settings? Or it's just a known fact that these luts like to eat RED log footage?
Hey Qazi...I love your tutorials.
i need 23 83 lut...how can i get it?
Does anyone know what screen recoder software he used on this video?
Wow blows my mind. I find it hard to edit shots from differrnt cameras. Almost completely gived up until i see this

I really like it.. Can you show us how you grade a 8 bit footage from Sony a6500?
I did in my Masterclass and here event.webinarjam.com/channel/waqasqazi
little off topic but what lens did you use on the helium for this piece? it looks fantastic!
Qazi, how do we access that Kodak lut?
Ben Izzard I think the lut is part of Resolve? I think you need the paid studio version to get the lut. Qazi can correct me if I’m wrong.
@@wakkowarner8810 He used Davinci film looks, it's in the free version
