      By the way, I usually throw in some other tokens/proxies with Etsy purchases. Any particular commander you'd want a proxy of (Ur-dragon, Lathril, Kaalia, Atraxa) or show/movies that you're into (Stranger Things, LotR, Star Wars)? Figured I'd ask so that you actually get something you want or could use. Let me know!

    I always wanted to know the process of how to apply these vinyls to a card. One of the artist that’s done it was Legacy Alters for quite sometime which I’ve followed on Instagram. Glad to know that someone else was also interested in the process of how it’s done. I really I want to try and do this but I think as far as editing the designs is beyond me, I’m not that really well versed in photoshop or any other software. Anyways great stuff and can’t wait to see the next projects!

    This is so sick! Every year my Magic friends and I do a "Green-White Elephant" gift exchange, where we all bring alters and trade them around with the traditional white elephant rules.
    I always make an acrylic painting, but this is very interesting and produces such a unique effect that I hadn't seen before. I think my sister has a Cameo for scrapbooking so maybe if I plan ahead...

    Nice to see your signed cards and art prints. Are the cards you foil just for showcase, do you play them? Back in the 90’s I remember going to a card shop, they were selling stacked 3D die cut X-Men cards.

    • @TheNinjaTCG
      @TheNinjaTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I might play them once I get into Commander, but I don't have any decks running lotus petal or crop rotation right now. One of the lotus petals will probably go on my shelf along with my other display cards. That's cool, I actually found some X-men cards in my old magic box from the 90s (not cool 3D ones though!

  • @JT-91
    @JT-91 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    looks good my only issue is the thickness. I would want to still be tournament legal and to me it looks pretty marked at that noticeable thickness

    • @TheNinjaTCG
      @TheNinjaTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally not the type of thing I'd do if I was looking to play in tournaments with those cards. But some people like to do it. They just check with the head judge beforehand and bring other non-altered copies to switch just in case.

  • @oom-3262
    @oom-3262 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    hmm. Do you think this would work using a transparent printable sticker sheet? I've made proxies with those before (as in printing the desired card into a washed away blank foil) but never considered doing what you are doing here to my cards.

    • @TheNinjaTCG
      @TheNinjaTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! Me and my son made some old school foil cards doing that (we printed a black lotus and tundra and made them into foils). I think you definitely could, it just might not be as shiny/reflective as this method.

    Do you have a template we can use so with the appropriate card size so we can resize images and draw our patterns on the correct scale? Thanks for the content, this was awesome!

    • @TheNinjaTCG
      @TheNinjaTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly I still haven't quite figured out the scale stuff myself. Online I saw it said that cards are 63 × 88 mm (2.49 × 3.48 in), but even though I tried to make my artboard that size in Illustrator it totally threw out my original size once I brought it into the Silhouette software. So I just cut a few different sizes...kind of guessing each time. Next time though I think I'll try and make a bounding box in the original Illustrator file so that I can keep it consistent once it goes to the Silhouette software.

  • @matlanta2106
    @matlanta2106 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thank you again for sharing this method. For context I'm trying to gold foil lettering on my custom cards. I did slightly struggle a bit to get the lettering off the vinyl sheet to stick to the transfer tape. A few letters would transfer to the tape. Any advice or recommendations?

    • @TheNinjaTCG
      @TheNinjaTCG  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the transfer tape is new the vinyl will stick to it easier. I find that after using it a few times it becomes harder to make it stick. In those cases I have a plastic scraper I use to press the vinyl to the transfer tape to make it stick better. That usually works for me before peeling it off with the transfer tape.

  • @Noxeas
    @Noxeas ปีที่แล้ว

    Will this make the card not tournament legal cause it makes it thicker?

  • @azendantforces1897
    @azendantforces1897 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you wanted to remove the vinyl would the card be damaged? Is this a one way process?

    • @TheNinjaTCG
      @TheNinjaTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mostly one way. I’ve had success taking it off before, but it was difficult to do without scratching or denting the card.

  • @Batfly01
    @Batfly01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The question is... is this legal to play with in tournament after that ?

    • @TheNinjaTCG
      @TheNinjaTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally I'm not doing this to any cards that I plan on playing with in a tournament. I think it's better for cards that are for casual play or commander. But I know other people that like taking these cards to tournaments, you just have to check with the head judge beforehand. In my opinion you can't really feel a difference in thickness once it's double sleeved, but again it's up to the discretion of the head judge.

    • @Batfly01
      @Batfly01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks ! Actually, I juste discover those "cut printers" in a shop (selling small "Cricut") and I hesitate to buy one to foil my cards, starting by lands for training. But I was not sure that's work on cards. Now I know it's possible, maybe I will do that.

    • @TheNinjaTCG
      @TheNinjaTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure which part of the video you're referring to, but I used Illustrator to do all of the design work and then the Silhouette Studio software to actually send it to the cutting machine. When you're bringing the design file into the Silhouette software it needs to be either svg or dxf (I exported as dxf from Illustrator).
