Most songs of SDB are, still heard on Masti Son I mix Jalwa Zee metro B4U has at least 70!80%,songs of burman Dada u can check it I watch and listen daily on these channels these songs will be played even. after 70!80!90 years mind it
@jailrishna vaghela bhai, Well said. During our interviews, number of music directors and musicians have told us that they were inspired by Dada and his music. Thanks for the comments.
Peeyush Sharma Thanks. In my mind for a long time, I too had thought that Dada would have said no to Dev Anand after Prem Pujari, though on the net were different versions. Then Waheeda told us in her interview that Dada had complained to her that his songs were not handled well by Dev Anand. That interview I have yet to post. Now Dubey ji is telling us confirming my doubts that it was Dada Burman who left Dev Anand due to his poor handling of Dada's songs.
When Dada takes so many efforts to compose a song frame by frame he had the right to see the befitting "filminng" the right to get upset when THAT was out of tune....
Vinayak Vaidya Thanks for your comments. My doubt about Dada having left his Dev Anand have been confirmed. Please read my above reply to Peeyush Sharma. Thanks again.
udai ji has been very straight forward and candid all times....a great creative dholak player from north india...thx for your great contribution...gave many many hits by his playing...
@Bharat Togani ji, Ek film mein kayee gaane hote hain. 60 saal ke baad jab film hi nahi yaad hai to gaana kaise yaad hoga. Phir bhi poochhta hoon. Agar bataaya to zaroor jawaab likhenge. Shukriya.
+deepak malik Thank you so much. He was indeed a very dedicated composer, whom other music directors looked up to with awe. Dada composed till his end rare gems of songs and other music directors heard and watched in awe.
price less videos.....years from now, generations of music lovers who want to feel how the bonding was in the golden era of music, they can view this and imagine... nowadays music directors dont sit and listen too much to the story
@ S Mahesh So true, these videos are meant for our younger generations to know their heritage. Everything has changed now. And immediately forgotten once you come out of the theater. The film is also removed after short run. Thanks for the comments.
@S Mahesh, That was the Golden Era. But please don’t forget that there were those too who manipulated awards, musicians, Binaca Hit Parade, booked recording studios for the entire year so that it’s not available to others, etc.
Burman dada always had a SPL song for Rafi his favourite but he used Kishore for as he felt for particular songs Kishore voice suited I would add most of Rafi songs u listen done by SDB u will feel he has an effect that song must be great hit 3 songs in guide 2 in teen devian 5 in tere ghar ke samne 4 in kala bazar all are GEMS
I would not say Rafi was his favourite and Kishore was not. When Kishore gave him problems during 1956-'57 period he dropped Kishore. It's only when Dev Anand went and brought KK who touched Dada's feet, Dada hugged him and exclaimed, "Kyon itne din kahan tha" that Dada composed 'Gata rahe' for him. Then onwards it was KK and the rest is history.
Had rafi not been his,SPL the songs which he got no one could do justice,to them pl listen Guide 3, songs and think Din dhal jaye was donec22?23 takes then OK
We lost the lust of Golden Era song which was purely an acoustic based with classical. Even retro fusion are timeless. Despite everything blend behind screen but songs are still alive till today.
SDB all the time of his musical career was in the lime light. He got the patronage of big film production houses and there was many a person who were busy in publicise him. Besides that no doubt he was a great composer and music director of Bombay film industry. But I am very much interested to hear the interviews of music arrangers, players, hands who done their jobs under film music directors like Hemant Kumar ,Salil Choudhury, Kanu Roy, Joydev, and some others who were not publicised and not publicity prone. Can anybody upload such interviews ?
Many big film houses will give him work only when he is good. Producers/directors and those who finance the film can't afford to lose money and go under. All these arrangers and musicians also worked for other music directors, like Shri Dubey here worked under G. S. Kohli for O. P. Nayyar. Then as a freelancer he worked SD Burman, RDB, Naushad and anyone who called him. But, as per him he preferred working for SD Burman. You take any name, they worked for who called them.

In the old songs of 50's, 60's and 70's, he is the most sought after music director of the earlier lot of MDs.

Memorable interview indeed . Learnt so many things about Dada. What a dedicated man he was!

No way SDB had SPL regards for Rafi and had SPL reservations for him
I will not enter in debate of Rafi V/s KK. Both were very good in their own way.
No debate the songs prove their worth U find urself songs sung by Rafi in these quality and think SDB is just un comparable
