Nathan's information about Steve is absolutely correct! He literally accepted Nancy and Jonathan's relationship and gave Nancy up as he already sensed what was going on between them. STEVE SET NANCY FREE. But he does still love her. Steve is awesome & has a wonderful heart ❤️ And Yes steve is still in high school. He hasn't graduated yet. He could have gone inside but decided not to because he still loved her & it would make things awkward for him as well as Nancy and Jonathan.

Damn I was kinda hoping to see any mentions of how similar the scene where max tells billy if he understands is to when his dad made him repeat himself last episode after hitting him. It’s definitely interesting to see the parallels in both. Aside from that this episode was super good I wish I could watch it for the first time again
more of a parallel to billy and max's car scene in 2x02 when he's yelling at her "say it" "SAY IT!!" when he's about to run over the boys. she stood up to her ABUSER and gave him a taste of his own medicine. good for her. if billy would have done that to his abusive dad y'all would eat this up

For timeline purposes season 1 takes place in November and ends on Christmas, 1983, and season 2 takes place from late October- November and ends at the Snow Ball in December 1984, so there is roughly one year between seasons 1 and 2. And yes, Steve did in fact confirm that he knows about Jonathan and Nancy and was giving her the go ahead, so they are officially broken up.
I feel so bad for Will. He got kidnapped and trapped in a toxic world for about a week, got back and was frequently haunted by that same world, possessed, and due to the connection felt the pain of being burned alive from the inside several times, before being literally burned in order to get the creature out of him. He has had no rest this season, only trauma. He deserves all the happiness in the world. Also, the snowball happens and the lines seem to correlate with the characters. The Duffer Bros said they made sure to have specific characters appear when specific lines in the song came up. "Every smile you fake" and the camera pans to Will awkwardly smiling with a random girl and seeming really uncomfortable? Will Byers, I know what you are. Fun fact, in the original script of the scene, it mentions that even though Will is dancing with the girl, his eyes are always on Mike. He even looked at him when the girl asked to dance. Hm. Will faking a smile around a girl and staring at Mike instead of her while they're all dancing. And his S1 character pitch was about being a boy with "sexual identity issues". Interesting. Do with that what you will.

Which is so wild to me that they'd think that after all the subtext and hints. I thought it was obvious in S1. You could say the bullies and Lonnie could've just been making fun of him. But Joyce loves that boy to the moon and back. And even she said he was "different" from everyone else. In a loving way of course. And if I trust anyone's judgement in this show, I trust Joyce's. Not to mention, Jonathan constantly reassuring Will that he doesn't have to be normal like their dad wants. The math was mathing.

So shes played characters in the 1600s the 70s and 80s. She must love the old days. Also she was On Taylor Swifts music Video All To Well alongside Dylan O Brien about a younger girl falling in love with an older guy only she played older cause she played 20. Taylor Swift picked them for her music video. That Monsters all around their gym and nobody notices That would be so scary if you were in there and that thing was right above you....
I think Dustin and Steve are brilliant together. They both went through a similar arc when it comes to romantic interest. Dustin was super invested in Max getting in the group because he had a crush on her but realized her and Lucas were making a connection. Steve still has feelings for Nancy but he sensed the “electricity” with Nancy and Jonathan. I hope Nathan doesn’t let them forget that Billy is indeed a racist and abusive person overall moving forward. I think people like to push that aside because they find him interesting. It’s like the Lannisters from Game of Thrones, they’re definitely the villains but I enjoyed them anyway and Cersei is one of my favorite characters but she is a terrible person.
I don’t think there’s a need to constantly reinforce that a character is bad. I think what makes him interesting is the muddiness of it. In episode 1, he was working on his college application essays in the car before crumbling it up and saying he would probably just end up working for his dad. 2. Steve and Nancy do officially break up in this episode. I think that the reason why he was so calm about it is because subconsciously, he knew that Nancy and Johnathan both had feelings for each other and that Nancy's feelings for Johnathan were much stronger than the ones she held for Steve. Remember how in episode 3, when he confronts her about the Halloween party, he makes a passive remark about Johnathan being her "other boyfriend." It was only a matter of time and I think they both knew it was unavoidable. Nancy and Johnathan's relationship pretty much began once they had sex and spent the night at Murray's.

I loved this reaction and I have to say my favorite duo is Dustin & Steve! Steve will always be the babysitter/mom and yeah Nathan is right; at this point, Steve and Nacy were already broken up and he kind of gave her the okay to date and be with Jonathan but you can clearly see at the end when he was looking at her from his car that he still loves her. Also, they are still in school. The kids are in 8th grade, Nancy & Jonathan are Juniors, and Steve is a Senior since its December.

Yeah, something Billy has over most people is his willingness to be violent and do some real damage. So much anger drives him and he looks for an outlet in other people, and it makes him more of a threat. I don’t think Steve hesitated soon as he saw Billy have Lucas pinned against the shelf. He’s just not that experienced in fights as opposed to Billy. He’s still definitely a kind soul regardless of that though.

@@adjctive Steve’s character development is as amazing as it is because he grows from a not-so-decent person into an incredible one! It was amazing to see him go on that journey. If he was the same good guy from the start it wouldn’t be much of a journey at all, and that’s the whole point. Wild how so many people still don’t get that.

I loved this reaction and I have to say my favorite duo is Dustin & Steve! Steve will always be the babysitter/mom and yeah Nathan is right; at this point, Steve and Nacy were already broken up and he kind of gave her the okay to date and be with Jonathan but you can clearly see at the end when he was looking at her from his car that he still loves her. Also, they are still in school. The kids are in 8th grade, Nancy & Jonathan are Juniors, and Steve is a Senior since its December.
Aint no cheating in a real fight. You just gotta win. Billy was resourceful and Steve is a kind soul. Billy had an advantage in which violence against another human doesn't deter him.

Yeah, something Billy has over most people is his willingness to be violent and do some real damage. So much anger drives him and he looks for an outlet in other people, and it makes him more of a threat.
I don’t think Steve hesitated soon as he saw Billy have Lucas pinned against the shelf. He’s just not that experienced in fights as opposed to Billy. He’s still definitely a kind soul regardless of that though.

For years I forgot how good season 2 was. For the longest time I just had this memory of 8 and El’s weird slicked-back hair and how shitty Billy was to the crew. But after rewatching this finale with you guys (and the last ep too) I remember how HARD this season slapped. It ended so well!! Thanks for the reminder. Seeing your faces all hype during the Snowball scenes was priceless!
