    Great review. Thank you. Particularly helpful were the comparisons at locations.

    Great review, thanks!
    I wish the tracking and auto focus was a lot more advanced though. The official tracking subject video/gif on Ubiquiti website of its use shows a constant tracking with smooth motion never stopping. I wish it actually has this behavior but it would need some really good auto focusing to make the subject not blurry. If they cant do that for some reason, I do wish it tracked a bit ahead of the subject like everything is mentioning. I really hope the tracking software gets some major improvements soon.

      Yeah, I think if it tracked and moved non-stop, the image would be blurry. But it's totally not like the marketing content. In reality, the ptz updates its tracking by slight movements. And I agree, I hoping the tracking get's more predictive to where the subject is moving ahead of time.

    Good video. One mention, that rj45 should be crimped more professional.😊👍

      True, insulation should've been deeper in the connector.

    Thanks for the review with such good examples. I tend to think that PTZ cameras have limited use if one is able to mount multiple regular cameras to get a variety of angles.

      Yup. Gets more useful once you get more optical zoom but then gets more pricey ;)

    The tracking function is promising but could be done better. I hope there will be improvements in further software versions.

      I do hope the tracking is a bit more predictive and moves ahead of the person being tracked to really keep them on center of the frame.

      The ability to patrol and then track when it finds a person would be amazing to have.

    Nice review. I also have mine mounted in a corner and have noticed a tracking problem when people get close to the camera. The camera stops tracking just as a person gets to the corner of the house. It would be nice if the camera would continue turning rather than returning to Home when the AI tracking is lost. I would also like to see a "Patrol Mode" where the camera occasionally moves to different views. All my outdoor cameras have the status lights turned on as I hope the cameras being seen will be deterrent.

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have all the LEDs on also as a deterrent. For home use, it's great. I'm hoping with the AI tracking, they can improve it further to understand where the person is walking towards so the camera can get there before the person goes off-frame.

    Is there a mount or flat base that would allow me to stand the camera on a table? I'm looking at putting one into the living room to keep an eye on a trio of rabbits. Currently using two G5 Flex cameras connected via UDBs, but pan/zoom would be helpful. Thanks!

      Yeah there is: G5 PTZ Surface Mount, UACC-G5-PTZ-SM. Store link: store.ui.com/us/en/category/accessories-camera/collections/g5-ptz-mounts/products/uacc-g5-ptz-sm?variant=uacc-g5-ptz-sm&a_aid=Apex&chan=yt

      I got the G5 PTZ a couple of days ago, along with the Surface Mount (sold separately). Together, they are quite stable on a table top. Nice camera, though still playing with its detection of rabbit motion.

    Has your spotlight stopped working as expected? My light now turns on for my street (even with the checkbox unchecked). I have it set up (essentially) just like yours. Spotlight in the yard only.

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hmm, I would adjust your zones. It depends on the height of your house relative to the roadway. Need to consider how a person walking, may easily be in two zones because of their height. So I would mess around with adjusting your "light-on" zone up or down to test it.

    Now that we are over 2 months from this video release, if the camera is still in use, how are you finding the person tracking?

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I thought that too at first. But it makes sense it doesn't track vehicles. A vehicle would be too fast to get any image. It would actually be worse and blurry.

    That tracking is pretty bad for this price point. You can get a hikvision with 25x optical zoom with a much better lens for this price.

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly, I've stopped working with Hikvision for years now. I get UniFi cameras not just because of the hardware specs but the whole ecosystem. It's like getting AirPods Pro because they work well with my mac and iPhone although there may be "better" earphones for the price. That's just how I do it. I still have some Hikvision. And I may deploy them again once UniFi Protect has full ONVIF support.

    100Mbit connection isn't saturated, but it is garbage for latency. Latency is actually very important for this specific camera, but Unifi didn't care. Saving $5 per camera by not going Gbit was terrible. There is no fixing the autotracking or PTZ stuttering issues with software updates.

    • @GabrielKozsar
      @GabrielKozsar 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Explain , why and how is 100Mbit "garbage for latency" ?.

    • @jodycwilliams
      @jodycwilliams 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GabrielKozsar there are plenty of papers describing how larger frame sizes are affected by bandwidth. Do some reading,

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Auto tracking is processed on the camera so latency doesn’t matter here. It can be better with updates. BUT, I wouldn’t buy it if you’re not happy with its set of features as it is now.
