I think you can still place bets on horses after they cross the red line it's just when a third horse crosses it there can be no more bets at all :)
Third horse over the red line or any horse over the finish line.
Love this game, it really is one of my very favourite board games that I own.Enjoyed your review, although as has already been said, it's only after a third horse crosses the red line that no more bets are allowed.
