Tomo-Zo and F Chopper Koga together are top 5 guitar/bass duo's in the universe for rock bands. They perfectly complement each other and really can rip on their instruments.
Tomo-zo is a very underrated guitarist. She is an equal to all the other top Japanese female guitarists in their twenties and early thirties but not lways taken seriously because she sometimes wears realy outrageous costumes and plays her icecream cone guitar.
You helped me appreciate the songwriting done for this song. Its another song by DOLL$BOXX that I enjoyed and appreciated more thanks to you. While they are not the main reason, they are another reason I am really into the music scene coming out of Japan. Have a great one Chase!

My favourite Doll$boxx song :) this is so awesome. Whenever i listen closely i find more details and more prove of what awesome musicians they really are! Tomo-zo shines in this one as the amazing guitarist she is, Koga is amongst my favourite bassists anyways, OreoReona is great on the keys and electronics and Hana is simply a musical phenomenon... all topped off with a really skilled vocalist.
Doll's Apartment was so close to perfect that no matter WHAT they did for the second album it wasn't going to hit the same mark. I know I had unrealistic expectations for this album but it just doesn't connect with me the way the first one did. BUT your reactions always open doors for me that were previously closed.
Everyone is differant i guess, for me the album was very highly anticipated, and my expectations were still exceeded. I have always said my only complaint is that it's too short. After a bit of a break and coming back to it, nothing has changed. I also love what both Gacharic Spin & Fuki(basically anything she touches...), are doing today.
You've really, really got to react to the instrumentalists main band Gacharic Spin now, I'd recommend Next Stage live. Can you beleive bassist Koga was considering quitting music altogether 10 years ago, thank god her best friend Hana convinced her otherwise and they decided to start a band together.
Love this band and this song. So glad to see you giving them the props they deserve. My only regret is that your channel wasn't around in 2017 when they released the EP from which this song came. Their 2012 debut (Dolls Apartment) was originally intended to be a one-off project. After they received such great online feedback from outside Japan on all their videos from that album, though, they decided to reform. Based on feedback, they were really hoping to break big outside of Japan and had signed a Western distribution deal for the first time . . . and that company absolutely botched it. What they were hoping would be a bang turned out to be a whimper (outside Japan, at least). As a result, Doll$boxx was (again) put on the backburner. Yes, Gacharic Spin and Fuki's other projects are still around, but there is something magical about this collaboration. Maybe this will be the start of building them back up so that we hopefully get another release from them. Again, thank you for doing them justice.
How did they botch it? DOLL$BOXX is on the back burner again because it is a side project and it is difficult to get all the members free at the same time to produce new material. If it was just an issue with distribution outside of Japan, they'd still be active and touring in Japan.
FourBleats The company botched it by failing to deliver on their promises. Shipping was from Lithuania and took forever. Videos were not posted on TH-cam but on their label site. (The fact that Victor restricted the same videos to be only available in Japan didn’t help.) Marketing was non-existent. Sales outside of Japan were disappointing. No tours or performances outside of Japan materialized. Doll$boxx had announced that all future Gacharic Spin concerts would feature both GS and D$B. The ladies were all expecting and planning to ramp up activities, juggling the two bands. While their Japan sales and tour were fine, none of the other stuff materialized as hoped. So, they decided to put Doll$boxx back on the back burner. Because they were disappointed that their primary goals failed to happen due to a small time Western label doing a poor job of marketing their product.

Love them, it's just too bad they aren't a full-time thing. As others have commented, it would be worth your while to check out the core band (-Fuki): Gacharic Spin. Here is one of the first things they ever did, right about the time they were graduating from high school. The singer, Armmy, left the band shortly after, and died a few years later. Sad story. Doll$Boxx is the heavy side of Gacharic Spin. Gachapin is not this heavy without Fuki. Gachapin is more Jpop-rock with funk elements. TU4C! What is it with Japan and all these fun female drummers? I like extreme vocals when they're used minimally for maximum effect. This is (IMO) the best song of theirs you've done. Pretty sure Chase was flinching every time the drummer was shown by the end of this.

In "Take my Chance" Doll$boxx are wearing cute outfits and "thrash" the audience with their music. That was 2013. Half a year later BAND-MAID was founded. There is suppose to be an interview from 2014, where Kobato told that she saw a video and that was very inspiring.

Actually this band is a side project of Gacharic Spin, all the girls except Fuki are the main members of Gacharic Spin, another great band but much more pop than DB.
Hmmm.... After your great choice yesterday I have to say: The song today is not my kind of music. Anyway, you do what you do, and it's awesome - so no thumb up or down from me.
As with most of these bands I am spoiled by LoveBites. I was a huge fan of Baby Metal and Band-Maid (Still am to a lesser degree than the debut of LB which I found back in 2017 with the very first video, so glad to have been with them since the beginning). I have no problem with a band seeking local/regional success and being happy with it. But regardless of what people think, English or some dialect of it, IS the international language. Rail against that fact if you wish but it just is. What's the saying, you have a "Right to your opinion but not to your own FACTS". When a band wishes to make the leap from regional to international, part of that leap should include the courtesy of transitioning to an international language for the broadest appeal. I love the music tech and style of this band, but I will not learn Japanese, no more than I would learn Slavic or Russian or any other JUST to be able to understand a band's lyrics. Not when there is SO much music out there. If this band were to make a English speaking album I'd buy it. The music is fantastic, but without being able to sing along or get into it lyrically it's just an instrumental album and I'll take a pass.

Doll$Boxx is the heavy side of Gacharic Spin. Gachapin is not this heavy without Fuki. Gachapin is more Jpop-rock with funk elements. If you do Gacharic Spin song, do Redline Live (th-cam.com/video/pW_B0QNy4rE/w-d-xo.html) it features the new band's format with two new members and it is one their best songs live.
Chase, I know you were kidding about joining Doll$Boxx, but were you aware that Lovebites is seeking a new Bassist? And they have said that neither Gender nor ethnicity are an issue.
I hope to get more Fuki in Unlucky Morpheus again soon. This channel needs a Cadaver/Revadac reaction. This song was awesome and might be the one that gets me listening to more of this band on my own.

TU4C! What is it with Japan and all these fun female drummers? I like extreme vocals when they're used minimally for maximum effect. This is (IMO) the best song of theirs you've done. Pretty sure Chase was flinching every time the drummer was shown by the end of this.

In "Take my Chance" Doll$boxx are wearing cute outfits and "thrash" the audience with their music. That was 2013. Half a year later BAND-MAID was founded. There is suppose to be an interview from 2014, where Kobato told that she saw a video and that was very inspiring.

Spot on breakdown of the song - you're hearing so much on the first go through, that's amazing. Most of their arrangements (whether it be D$B or Gacharic Spin) offer so much on subsequent listen, it's just mind blowing. Kind of when Rush started putting their ideas into 5 min songs instead of the 10+ min epics. So much going on.

Out of curiosity, what is the band you are/were in? do you have any of your personal music out there? I looked around because I was curious what your stuff may have sounded like but I wasn't able to find anything and it doesn't seem you have anything listed, at least from what I saw.

As with most of these bands I am spoiled by LoveBites. I was a huge fan of Baby Metal and Band-Maid (Still am to a lesser degree than the debut of LB which I found back in 2017 with the very first video, so glad to have been with them since the beginning). I have no problem with a band seeking local/regional success and being happy with it. But regardless of what people think, English or some dialect of it, IS the international language. Rail against that fact if you wish but it just is. What's the saying, you have a "Right to your opinion but not to your own FACTS". When a band wishes to make the leap from regional to international, part of that leap should include the courtesy of transitioning to an international language for the broadest appeal. I love the music tech and style of this band, but I will not learn Japanese, no more than I would learn Slavic or Russian or any other JUST to be able to understand a band's lyrics. Not when there is SO much music out there. If this band were to make a English speaking album I'd buy it. The music is fantastic, but without being able to sing along or get into it lyrically it's just an instrumental album and I'll take a pass.
