Gotta remember for ANY of these fire alarm videos no matter who is doing it that sometimes the camera microphone can make things sound louder than they actually are.
I live in Beaver Dam, WI but the continous fire alarms are only in the schools and a nursing home my mother works at, a few apt. buildings, and a sheltered workshop. The hospital here has a code 3 alarm system, but no voice evac and the alarms actually sound like the chimes on your car to fasten your seatbelts.
Well all the schools in my town has continuous fire alarm sytems. As far as I know they have a Simplex fire alarm system. Back when I was in High School, which was from 1988-91 (Grad. in 91) They were the first school in the district to have a computerized system (when they did a lot constructing including an auditorium) they didn't put in new horns till 97-98 when they added more classrooms. They originally had both IBM and SImplex horns, and they were continuous and VERY loud.
Well when my school did the 89-90 new additions. the horns in the new wings did have the blinking strobe lights. in 1998, was the year they put all horns with the strobe lights. I am not that familar with the voice evacuation system, but that sounds like a good idea to have.
well, I know of a school in my state that had a system change in 2005, and it was slow whoop. Also, somebody else on youtube mentioned that in their town, all systems were set on continuous. I've also been told that often times, local authorities have jurisdiction on what evacuation codings r signaled at. I also met a higher up from my cities fire department, and he told me that most of the time, high rise buildings use slow whoop, but in our city, it's code 3
My school has a simplex fire alarm system. We have speaker strobes and simplex t bar pull stations. The speakers use a woman's voice, and it is set to code 3. It is a cool fire alarm system.
Why do they pull it when they do a drill? If that Panel has a dire Drill button they should use that instead. The drill mode tends to bypass the dialer which means you don't have to notify the FD and the monitoring company that the alarms will be going off.
my high school has a system of siemens zh-mc-r horn strobe and dual action siemens - pyrotronics pull stations located throughout the building- very nice system
Jeez bro. That's CRAZY!!! nice panel. Same panel is saw but it was a Siemens RCC-1. The whole school had UMM-T horns and strobes and their was no sync at all. The outside had Wheelock A.S Horn strobe on High volume code 3 temporal. VERY LOUD SYSTEM.
@firenut101 FWR is Full-Wave Rectified current. It's a technical term for poorly-filtered DC, and it makes certain horns (like these U-HN's) have a scratchy sound. So a better question would be- Do all of them sound scratchy like this or are there some that sound smooth?
That system must have alarm verification turned on I noticed that when he pulls it there is a delay of about 5-7 seconds before the horns sound but the panel buzzer goes off right away. Also this must be an older model of that Cerbrus Pyrotronics panel I saw another video on here with what appears to be the same panel but set to code-3 but the tiny LCD at the top had a bright blue backlight and this one doesn't at all either it did and is burned out or never had one.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, wow ok. When I was in jr high which was 01-03, we had work done to our building as well. We had as horn strobes put in set to code 3 as well as e70 speaker strobes which were set to slow whoop. Any idea why voice evac is a little different from horn strobes?
Yeah, it could also depend on which version of the npa 72 the fire department is using as well. Cause I have an account w the nfpa, no, I'm not a member, but they still sell copies of the nfpa dating all the way back to the fifties
Yeah High Rise buildings are supposed to have a voice evacuation system. Slow Whoop is common with Simplex the other one is a code-3 Tone sounds like the system change in '05 was to a voice evacuation system Maybe for voice evacuation systems that is not mandatory but all the new systems that I see using horn strobes or bells and strobes all go in code-3. The dorm I stayed in my last semester at IUP had TrueAlerts in code-3 in the hallway but the room smokes were on continuous.
Cerberus Pyrotronics MXL-IQ! I own the normal size MXL system with MME-3 cabinet! Nice panels however you're limited to 60 devices per loop! Can tell it's an older panel.
I wonder how loud these are compared to your average Siemens U-MHU/U-MMT? * I can handle Wheelock 7002Ts with no issue, as they don't have high-frequency shrills...so I thought these older Faraday/Siemens horns would fall in the same category as 7002T...
well in my city in my state of manchester, nh, all schools have to he a voice evac system. Like 99.9% of horn strobes r set to code 3. All high rise buildings 7 stories and taller have to be code 3 and set to voice evac. What city and town r u from? I wanna pull up the fire codes to c what u're town has to say about them
What state is the high school in? Different States have different fire drill laws for schools. My state, which is Massachusetts requires the Fire department (Local Fire marshal or designee) to conduct the fire drills once every quarter. Obviously this state requires fire drills to be conducted once a month, but can be done by school staff.
hmmmmmmmmm, cause I read it was before 1997 that it would've been alright, then anything after '97 had to be code 3, voice evacuation to a certain degree was an exception
Gotta remember for ANY of these fire alarm videos no matter who is doing it that sometimes the camera microphone can make things sound louder than they actually are.
I received one of these alarms in the mail the other day, and I have two words to describe them: EXTREMELY LOUD. Mine is a Faraday-branded unit.

It's a nice looking maintenance room where the main panel is.

My elementary school had the exact alarms in the hallway, but they were all on Code 3.
Our school has the MXL-IQ with Wheelock MT-24LSM-VFR Horn Strobes set to slow whoop.

Its sort of a shame he doesn't do fire drill videos anymore.
Sounds sick fire alarm

i am scared of fire alarms people don't warn me i get so scared thinking fire fire fire fire all the time it is scary
LoriLynn97 I am too
@firenut101 AS's aren't affected by FWR. I was talking about the U-HN's.

3:46 You may return into the building. Thank you!
My Highj school had fire drulls once a month, and some alarms were extremely loud.
Paul W for me if you were down stairs the alarms were louder
If you were upstairs the alarms were not that loud
Because they sound so good
@firenut101 Ok,
My High School had fire drills once a month and some of the alarms were very loud.
It sounds like dying person that got a hart attack
Reminds me of elementary school.
I wonder how loud these are compared to your average Siemens U-MHU/U-MMT?

Those have to putting out at least 104 db ouch!
Did they ever figure out why the panel has 14 troubles?
Those horns sound terrible! Are they being powered by FWR?
0:31
I wish they rebranded it for Wheelock
Why doesn't that panel have an inner panel or a "Dress"Panel as some people prefer to call it to cover up the wires and circuitry?
Why do the P2R take longer to silence is it because of the panel.
Anything installed after 1996 is supposed to be on code-3 maybe this is an old panel or contractors did not check programming.
I prefer continuous to other tones actually.
Good grief! That's deceptively loud. Wow...
The alarm sounded like some constipated duck or goose.
I think the panel is putting out FWR
How about an array of chainsaws?
Jason Vorhees attack!
@@GaryBeltz Jason's a machete guy.
Leatherface is the chainsaw kind of guy.
I heard Spectralert after the Pyrotronics were silenced.
By the way, I just noticed, the strobes r out of sync, u may wanna let u're principal know about that
Hate to break it to you but Fireshield is an EST panel

this is a newer system. Why is it set to continuous and not to code 3?

+Spaceshotx7 My state, NY, requires 8 drills before December and 4 after.
+RollerCoasterPilot15 same
My state ME we have 5 fire drills in the fall 1 fire drill in the winter and 2 in the spring
@firenut101 Why would they waste their money on those?
Are these loud? Like do they make you jump when they go off?
are these horn strobe mounted in every single classroom to
chime strobe, oh, ok, thanks, man
@firenut101 I could of swore that I heard SpectrAlert Advances posted outside eof the building.
@firenut101 I only like Wheelock Appliances and the Siemens Strobes. Gentex is ok, I would prefer them over System Sensor.
hmmmmmmmmm, cause I read it was before 1997 that it would've been alright, then anything after '97 had to be code 3, voice evacuation to a certain degree was an exception
@KetchupAndMustard55 You don't go to that school anymore?
The fire alarm sounds weird
Did local authorities want it on continuous, or ...?
What kind of alarm is this I want one for my system.
R.I.P headphone users
IKR!
Are you a volcanologist?
Do they not have dress panels for that panel?
that would scare the fuck out of me because i have igniterroremophobia
I am noise sensitive but the fire alarms at my school are really quiet
Kirby7601 same here I have a really severe case of it developed it in 5th grade
Kenzie Backlin i had it since kindergarden. Here i am in junior year of high school and i still have that phobia
what is igniterroremophobia?
@@GaryBeltz fear of fire alarms. I think I'm slightly getting better at it hopefully.
Where there alarms in classrooms?
That's because they ARE 4903 mechanical horn's. ;D :3
Ok, I got it. It depends on the code u wanna buy. Some r like thirty-five dollars, some r like forty dollars, others r like eighty dollars
wis a level 4 access code?
those sound like GMSes or 4903 mechanical horns
Siemens fire alarm?
How much is a copy of the rules?
Siemens U-HNH-S17's And Spectralert Advances In The Building
That one sounds like a school bus...
My school has continued fire alarms that are loud as heck but I got to pull once
thing sounds like its about to die
what kinda system?
@KetchupAndMustard55 I'm going to graduate in 2013.
I had a fire drill at my school my school is sowth penn elementary school
Nice!
Must have been loud.
Ok Thanks!
What system is this ?
Mac Canning Cerberus Pyrotronics MXL-IQ
I like Siemens Faradays better
this is not loud if you want loud go to my high school
Simmens UHNH horn strobes
well is it illegal to have it to set to continuous, or is it fine that way?
LTCWM1 no
let me look it up for u
It sounds like a dying
simplex 4050 would be great
On TH-cam
Anoying indeed
