Bought mine from Skellerns in Worcester about 1975. Got me to work, to my family home (a 250 mile blast) to Durham and on camping trips around Europe. Such a lovely motorcycle to own. Easy to ride and very versatile. Used every day I had it.

I also had this 'bike, with a white top-box, in '75. I loved it more than any 'bike I've owned since, esp. its acceleration through the six gears, and the beautiful green & orange glow from the instruments with the lights on. Should never have sold it to buy my mum's best friend's Mini. Carefree '70s!

This was my first ever bike .... 45yrs ago .... same colour, I believe it was called 'Candy Apple Orange'? All my mates had the other 3 offerings, all 2 strokes, but being an apprentice mechanic I appreciated the longevity of a 4 stroke engine.

I loved the Rodger ram jet up-swept exhaust tail pipes set the way most of the modern bikes have there exhaust's

If you're British, it wouldn't have been this model, because the crash helmet law took effect in Feb. '73. They only started making the G5 in '74.

I got mine, 1976 P, from Dennis McHarris on Harlow. It was 2 years old and the only real problem I had was the splines on the selector shaft which wore down to nothing.

I also had one (in that colour) and a 125 SL --- traded them in for a 250 Dream.

Is it safe to drive the cb250 with a passenger when reaching higher speeds? And if you're driving with two, how much does does it affect its top speed? Thanks already :)

Cédric Klei It’s too long ago since I rode this bike to accurately remember speeds, plus I was a skinny guy and my girlfriend was skinnier. She was 17 and I was 19. No one in the western world is the same weight today. You need to remember that the brakes are far less effective as modern brakes (single early style disk with one piston on front, drum on rear), so you should ride much slower anyway, especially with a passenger on board.
I do recall that they were affected by rain. But I was young and crazy back then. The bike was an improved on the CD175 I had before. It in turn was an improvement on the BSA Bantam I learned to ride on, and my first bike a 1968 C50 Cub. People have ridden around the world on a Cub.
If I was going to ride a CB250G5 today, I would only use it for Sunday morning rides solo. There are too many idiots in cars who’ve missed their opticians appointments!! 😎😎
      Ride safe

@@G58 thanks for your elaborated response! I'm thinking of maybe getting either this Honda or a similar one when at university in just over a year, if I would already take a motorcycle in general. Not particularly the most convenient type of transportation, but sure a fun one as I can imagine! Also doable, as I have a reasonable athletic build.
I would mostly use it to easily get somewhere within a 10km radius and perhaps sometimes back home which would probably be about 60km away.
I can imagine what you said about the brakes. I probably should try it out myself one day, maybe on the similar but smaller cb50 a good friend of mine has. As I said, I still have to decide whether I'm going for it or not though, partly due to the strict rules for riding here in the Netherlands and due to the free (to an extent) public transport when you are a college/university student. Thanks again for your response!

Cédric Klei You’re welcome my friend. I guess my thoughts are that this is now a classic bike of the 1970s so it will be more likely to need some attention to keep it on the road than a more modern bike. Though I definitely don’t want to put you off this great bike.
There’s an amazingly brave young Dutch woman by the name of Noraly who was in the middle of riding from Patagonia to Alaska on her 400cc Royal Enfield Himalayan - until this Gates plandemic started.
Her channel is Itchy Boots on YT. She also has a blog. She’s currently riding a borrowed bike around the Nederlands sharing the history of your country. I’m sure she will be a great source of local relevant information.
It might be that for the same price of an older bike, you could get a newer one that’s much more up to date, and suitable for carrying two people.
Free public transport also sounds tempting. But I’m getting old and the traffic here in the UK is getting too contested. I think the traffic is a lot friendlier where you are.
Good luck with your choices, and at university.
