    soapy actually has a really good idea for the AP system. the battlepass that you grind by playing the game, the rank doesn't exist but the meter only goes upwards, everyone has a chance to get the cosmetics as long as you just play the game. the current system we have is terrible and so boring that nobody wants to do it.

    41:52 based Soma take. True damage and all attributes are better than any other enchant, are boring as they do not modify your gameplay in any way (unlike action/casting speed for example), have no counter other than +max hp and the prices on jewellery reflect that.

      It's about the fifth time they've brought back all attributes and it negatively impacts the game balance every time. True is an issue, but all attributes - they should have learned their lesson by now.

      They'd have to adjust PDR and buff classes like Rogues damage then. Without true certain builds will be trash and others will have no check in place. We can build armor pen but it's way less impactful.

      + all atts givers dex, will, agility... Literally EVERY stat.... Which increasing your dex/agi will increase your action/ms speed. I think you're forgetting your base stats effect those stats as well.

      instead of just "handled" and "looted" have another tag "purchased". Purchased items cant be sold on market place. this will help with the flippers. Ive made 400k from flipping wolf pelts and froststone ore and it needs to stop.

      @@deajm3332 they could make a separate que where you are only allowed to bring in selffound. Same as now if you try to que with gs higher than your selected bracket, you are not allowed to que in.
      I think it sounds really really fun, but another issue is also that it's gonna split up the player base, which is a reoccuring problem in the game.
      Having ssf as only a badge of honor where you are still queing together with none ssf would be an issue because of the problem you referred to. Another problem with that setup, is that ssf-players will almost always be at a disadvantage against none ssf-players.

    Eliminating the marketplace and trading post and going full self-found is the way DaD will go to the next level and keep players in the dungeons.
    Once you figure out how to farm PvE to maximize gold to be able to afford whatever gear on the market you want, whenever you want, the game gets old and you start to feel like you’re just going through the motions. Self-found makes EVERY SINGLE RUN engaging and adrenaline-pumping.
    With the socketing system allowing for better gear customizations, there has never been a better time to experiment with a no-trade wipe.

    Give rogue the fighter balance treatment. What would be great is combining ambush with Hide to free up perk slot(s). If you take ambush, you have to use Hide, so they may as well be 1 ability.

    I want random dungeon events, fog, all lights off, all enemies are nightmare goblins. Roaming bosses. And maybe a dungeon rift portal that randomly opens to a ultra hard module with a nightmare boss with a garanteed artifact drop

    Thank you Soma for bringing up Sewers as a small intro map. New players need to be shown a small amount of information. It’s unclear what to do as a new player and nothing really is intuitive in the menus. Some people need the bright yellow flashing arrows. Please roll out that basic map, especially since advertising is happening and 0-24 is gone. Hold their hand then send em to the dungeons after squire is forced to go to and interact with and perks/abilities.
    You still have to switch to “perk and skill” after being shown a dead training screen for two years, which should be the secondary option.
    Remove weapon mastery from fighter.
    Nerf druid
    Add more windlowless doors
    Have the alchemist sell the green blue pots and magic pots, 500 gold for a three stack is insane. Rarities unlocked with affinity makes sense but people buy poor potion of protections from market all the time.

    Dark and Darker could benefit massively from a tutorial island style intro to the game where you pick a weapon and try some skills and abilities agaist waves of some easy enemies and then at the end you get rewarded with some gems or something.

    Some good points in today's show. Remove bows from all characters except rangers. Let a few other characters use hand crossbow. Other than that range should be throwing knife, axe or spells or drums. Change the gear scores to 1-24 and 25+ and then if you really care about new players apply this to the arena also, so new players can practice pvp. Then make arena 24/7 already having to wait for the weekend is bad and makes me play less than I would. Show the freaking exits on the fog of war. It will make pvp more natural. Also remove exits from the maps when they're taken. It's no fun double bossing in gobo only to lose your unique ruby because 3 exits you checked are taken. Thanks for a solid podcast y'all!

    Great episode. Just wanted to say "thank you" for always being an empathetic man of the people. IM should be glad to have you, because you always think about and are accurately in tune with what the general population of the game wants. Not streamers or youtubers, not the top 1% or the masochists as you put it. But the average joe who wants to have fun playing a hardcore extraction RPG. The Squire and 224 HR lobbies were the most popular. Not sure the logic in removing them. The fact is that people do like running their gear but they don't like facing off against the people who are bringing in insane stuff that they cannot reasonably compete against.

    I personally really enjoy the brackets being changed, as long as the rookie lobby system works. Dark and darker is a looting game, getting gear is important. I also love the PvP in this game, and being able to go in with a squire kit to quest, and beat someone who is rocking a solid kit feels so much better than knowing every kill in sub 24 the best your getting is treasure and heals. The bracket changes make it so PvP is worth doing in lower brackets, I love that. As long as we have rookie lobbies for new players than I think that’s a good thing to have un equal fights in a loot extraction game.

    Needing brackets in the first place, tells me that gear gap is too great between the lowest and highest end.
    I like to use a ladder as an analogy. Imagine that at the top of the ladder you have the absolute best possible gear in the entire game. Full bis meta kit with all the most desired rolls. At the bottom you have full common squire(i assume that this is attainable by the vast majority of player).
    When you have brackets, you acknowledge that the difference between the top and the bottom of the ladder is too large. So you artificially cut the ladder into pieces so that the top and bottom of each smaller ladder, is not too large. So the absolute best gear in the game is to a lesser degree better, because its only bettet relative to the worst gear on its ladder.
    Essentially gear progression is meaningless, because its always only relative to other gear in its own bracket.
    Instead of cutting the ladder into pieces, would it not be better to reduce the total height of the original ladder, meaning to squish gear?
    The last time this was attempted with 69, it was done by normalising base attributes. Since this was before socketing, it rendered alot of items meaningless. If you had a rare barbuta helm with 2 hp and 2 armor, and then found a legendary barbuta with 1 magic power and 1 memory cap, there was no reason to pick it up, since it had the same base value. This meant that gear progression was ruined, since so many higher rarities was useless.
    My suggestion would be that rarher than taking away the base attribute progression, they could reduce the power of enchantments. Instead of a chest piece rolling up to 5 health, it could only roll a 1 hp. When this is done to a full set, the additive effect is huge.
    Essentially the result would be a ladder with a total lower height, but there would be many shorter steps between the top and bottom. You have progression to ensure incentive and motivation, but you reduce the absolute power of the best of the best gear.
    Alternatively with socket system, they could combine reducing enchantments and base attributes. For instance uncommon could have same base attribute as common, but with an additional roll. Then rare could have the same amount of enchantments as uncommon, but with an extra base attribute. Epic could have same base attribute as rare, but with another enchantment. In contrast to patch 69, another enchantment rolls truly constitues an upgrade since it can now hold a gem. So progression is ensured because of this.
    Another problem with 69 was that truly good legendaries were much rarer. So the occurence of good higher end rarity items were smaller. So you got a bell curve distribution of gear, where the best gear had a much steeper decline. This makes it so the steps after the middle of the ladder become exponentially more expensive to a greater extent.
    What I would love to see is sub 25 normals, and everything else is just hr in one bracket and gear gap massively squeesed together. Normals would be like scaving when you are just broke and need to have some safe way to progress. Everything else is the main game. Nornals should have reduced drop rates, to decentives veterans to go there for free loot.

      Great write-up. One thing about making normals sub25 only is that this was the case before steam release and the f2p controversy. Devs had to make gear wearable in normals under all the review bombing. I would prefer normals going back to sub25 but dunno if it's gonna be possible with all the f2p players that cannot access HR.

    I think 224 is needed more than 0-24, the difference between 200 and 600 gearscore is actually unwinnable, meanwhile you can (typically) easily beat someone at 124 in squire kit

    Surprised at the complete 180 the community has done on 124 lobbies. They used to be considered "the best most balanced and most fun pvp" by everyone on this call basically. With continuous dungeon they removed GS based matchmaking which nobody mentioned for some reason. The old system put you against other people with similar GS so the min/maxers were fighting other min/maxers which was excellent and I miss it.

      That is because there is no old gs based matchmaking, it hasn’t changed. Only the gs numbers have been moved around a bit.

      @@noonegaming8685 False. Last season had GS based matchmaking. You que for a map when the rotation hit it. For 1-2 minutes the game would look at who qued, then create lobbies with similar GS. So if you min/max it would put you together. I spent a good amount of time proving people wrong who said squire gear couldnt beat 124 by bringing 2 weapons in my inventory so I could squire against min/maxers.

      @@Devildog0491 I might be misunderstanding but it wasn’t putting u into lobbies with people with the similar gear score it was just putting u in a gear score bracket like the current ones, it wouldn’t be min/maxing if it was putting u into similar gear score lobbies. Only difference is the gear score brackets are now selectable rather than just putting on a set gear score and queueing and there is only 1 high roller bracket now.

      You selected your bracket like today. Then over the course of a few minutes the matchmaker would group you with similar GS players. Then the match would start. This meant that if you qued up for a map in the last few seconds you had the chance to have extreme differences in GS like 124 vs 26 for example or more likely your lobby would just be empty or near empty. So there was matchmaking that happened after you selected your bracket based on GS.

    i want to see a small exclamation point on items you find in raid that are required for an active quest. if i need 3 wolf pelts, then wolf pelts should indicate to me that i need them. helps a lot when catching up in quests later in wipe when you 100 to sift through

    The way to fix keys, is to increase gold cap on market(assuming we still have a market and its not solo self found.) And to increase means to store gold. Currently keys are the only way to trade high end gear. As long as keys serve that purpose, they will not be worth using for key runs.

      @@JWL123 the way I see it is that the main atrractiveness of a key is the potential named items it can yield. I do not know the chance of getting a named item or the prices of the different ones. But to justify using a key, the chance of getting a named item, should correlate to the % of a price of the same named item.
      So for instance if a key has the potential to give a named item worth 100k, and the chance of getting that item is 10%, then that key should be worth 10k or less for it to be worth using. For any single instance of you using the key, it's always a gamble, but when the number of occurrences approaches infinity, the result would either be a net gain, loss or no change. Currently the price far exceeds the gain, so unless you are just very lucky, you will lose money on average.
      But what drives the price up for keys is not its function as a pathway to a named item, but as a currency for high end gear, since market limits a single trade to 50k and you are not able to trade higher sums in trade post.
      I do not know the actual figures, but 1k sounds very low. I was just surprised, and would love to see him show how he got to that number.

    About "perfect block" it also goes by the term "desync block". Oggieson, sparkykawa and other people have made videos how it works and what causes it. Definetly a bug

    Let players review clips like how a gm would live but (obvi it would be a clip) with esp and stuff to make a vote on if they think it's cheating or not and give the player like a reward token for it. then if a clip gets enough votes then ig someone at IM has too look at the clip and make the call to ban or to not ban them. (only for cheating reports)

    Maybe with the marketplace, what if they got rid of armor and weapons, but everything else is still available, gems, potions, and crafting items.

    Im with Soma, I'm a former hardcore gamer now with a job amd kids, lots of stuff off the net.
    I appreciate HR and the people who play it a lot enjoy it.
    I play with a friend who is a great guy but in pvp often struggles.
    Combine all of the above and I'm finding we set aims for the wipe. For us we like to complete quests and have things to work at. Myself I enjoy PvP though if we go HR, half the time my team mate dies in seconds and then im 1v2 vs good gear players. Its rough.
    I usually get to blue/purple rank akd thats it, but i dont enjoy getting there, normals is more fun.
    We run duo self found zero to hero as Soma said. Thsts more fun.
    Id like to see a nornals ranked too, it can have lesser rewards sure, it was trialled before.

      @@KyleDnD I pre-bought crafting materials with all the gold I made during the first couple weeks of wipe and now I just flip them whenever I need gold for a 124 or HR kit at a 300% profit. To be fair, a new/timmy player doesn't know to do that but thats how I compete without spending a crazy amount of time playing.

    I don't know what we are on about I have been running both highroller and norms and pretty much every squad in high roller are giga biss Chads running demon lock with druid and bard and they're insanely geared. The amount of uniques I have ran into this season has been ridiculous

    I feel like Ironmace is still not commited going casual or hardcore. They are always going one way and then change it to the other, and they do the same changes to both normals and high rollers. I think they should just approach the normals for more of a social experience, more lenient and fun focused- so have tavern before the lobby starts, have more social aspects in the games and maps, have them more fum. But in High rollers they should change it to more hardcore experience and less social one. So no lobby for example, having the fog of war and rng stuff. Though they do have the test server, it feels like they use normals as the test server...

    for true damage could they add scaling to weapons? similar to how spells and abilities have scaling. slower weapons get the full 1 add true dam. where rondel might only get 0.4 of it.

    The ap system has always been lame. First season i tried to get demigod i got to purple and was like wtf am i even doing i dont care about the cape and i have to grind solos for another 10 hours because my friends refuse to ap farm with me. I havent even gotton past pathfinder since season 1. Getting ap from gems and shit is dumb, i kill people i take their gear i leave im not fking minmaxing my entire inventory for a week straight to get a skin.

    Ryan almost exclusively must be playing solo to have the take about hr players being less geared. Every team I fight in trios is like 500+ gear score and basically running at my team the second we load in.

    It would be nice to see the demigod rewards get retired to some kind of battlepass system. High roller is too dogshit a mode for it to have those rewards to be tied to it, no new player is gonna give it a go for that in their first 500 hours

    See my issue with the bracket thing is that the argument is being made by people who are not new players, while claiming it needs to come back because of new players. The folks voting on Ryan's channel are, for the most part, vets. Vets want 0-24 back. And that invalidates the entire argument. Vets want it because they wanna run around GC like its Quake 3 Arena, and they wanna farm troll with zero risk all reward with no potential interference from well geared players. All while using the "wont somebody think of the children!?" argument.
    Not falling for it. Newbies do need a better experience, but this is not the way. If anything that poll just proved Terry and SDF were correct about veteran intentions, and they were right to take it away from you.

    Can someone talk to sdf to please reduce the join timer to the first 3~ mins of each map its kind of to much if your no the map from the start and joining in @ 8 mins is kinda lame i would love to see the join timer fix probably my number 1 complaint for this wipe
    Its called Ironman mode (as seen on RuneScape) and yes i think you should be able to create a character and be identified as one in kill feed i dont even care if im mixed in with the current system i think it would just be peak content so we don't divide the player base

    0-124 is the best things to happen to the game. All classes are viable not just the classes that are strong w less gear, and you can make so many builds. It's 1000x improved

      @@daemorax21 Timmys are fine. 0-25 gs lobbies were just being abused to farm bosses with zero risk, to get gold, rinse and repeat. And fights were just boring with nothing to loot. Killing a player and having a come up is what makes these games fun.

    Soma, all the marketplace items came from inside the game so obviously people are in the dungeons, marketplace flipping is now half the fun for a lot of players. If you can't buy gear there is no point for gold to exist. The game is in it's best state when there is no gear fear. When gear was all over the vendors my IRL played nonstop because they didn't have to grind for hours for one fucking kit.

    Removing the gear bracket was a W. 0-124 is fun and engaging, trio queue is flourishing again. Dark and Darker is slowly healing and returning back to the original game.
    New player experience is fine right now, just bring back the fopdoodle booklet iykyk.
    I hope they lock the flea next wipe or at least greatly limit what can be traded like Tarkov. Progression has been too fast in this game and there is literally no early/mid game at all. People will have access to great gear without hours of the wipe.

      0-124 is absolute trash for new players. I have 3 friends that I got into the game and they all quit after being slaughtered 100 times since the change. At least in 0-24 you could learn the game at an even level with more skilled players. Now new players just lose their gear and can't compete in combat against more skilled players with min/maxed 124 gear when they are forced to run in squire gear after losing their gold.

      @@saint_snow for players with skill that's perfectly acceptable but you can say this as much as you want and it doesn't change the fact that the new player population dwindles lower and lower each passing day. New players don't care about this point in the slightest. The game will die without new people playing consistently. It will end up being the same group of players who end up fighting each other over and over until they are bored and there is no one left. The game will never grow if we can't keep new people around.

      @kollinsendall1 and yet soma says directly in this very podcast that the player base is growing. New people come to the game and not everyone will stay it is what it is. But handholding and creating separate queues with no risk is not what this game is advertised as. New players were getting killed regardless of 0-24 by players going to easy farm bosses and mobs for crafts.
