I have a feeling that some of Doomsday Discs plastics are the cheaper version of this plasic so they will not mold up as a new disc without being overwieght. If you end up with some old DGA Steady plastic from the Blofly/II and Gumbputt try to redo those discs as an Inner Core.
As a disc dyer, I would definitely suspect the foil to be the cause of the discoloration. Certain foils have more dyes in them than others. I’ve accidentally dyed discs completely green and pink when trying to remove the stamp from them. Some discs you can even just wipe the color off the stamp and leave behind a bright silver foil.
Yeah this! You can use acetone or alcohol to remove the color from many (most?) foil stamps, but if you leave the residue dye too long on the disc it will slightly dye the plastic instead.
That was my thought too. When you add a bit of blue paint to orange, the color you get is pretty similar to those discs. I have to imagine the blue dye from the stamp is melting and mixing in with the plastic.
Discoloration has to be because of the foil material burning during processing. You could test this by doing a lot of regrind that you left the stamps on and a lot of regrind that you wiped the stamps before regrinding.
When you discussed disc mold volume and plastic density, it made me think of a question I’ve always had. How do you make discs in the same mold and with the same plastic that come out different weights? Does it depend on the amount of plastic you put through the screw (did you call that a slug?)? Also, if that’s the answer, what other impact does that have on the disc? Sorry for the many, many questions. Just curious. Thanks for the content!!
As a disc dyer, I think I can help. When I wipe stamps with acetone, the stamps dye the discs. Silver doesn't matter, but the colored stamps need to be wiped quickly without the acetone drying. I think the blue stamp is dying the plastic, and orange plus blue is..... well, you're holding it.
You should just call it the Trash Panda Doom. Also it should be pretty quick and easy to sand the foil off with a disc sander or something like that before you throw each one in the grinder.
So excited for the disc swap. If I got a puke disc straight from Colorado I’d lose my mind. Editing my original comment to say that you jinxed yourself by saying day 2 was the peak!
i dont know if anyone else has said this yet, but id like to see you not make as perfect of a disc... i mean like get crazy with it... your a recycling co in the end. so the ones on the wall you say are bad, or the ones that first come out of the mold when switching... or just a random mix of things... those would be my fav discs of your and would want to use the most and say oo yeah it looks like this because it recycled so its a mix of a bunch of different things, Its one of the things that caught my attention the most when you first started... now i know you have to make the best disc you can for those people out there that want that... but just know that people like me are here and love it when a disc have a little weird speck of foil in it or a random color swirl thats just in there from another thing... or even a disc that is half one thing and half another....
Didn’t you see a “burnt” color effect when you recycled the same discs over and over again? The first batch was lighter and the last batch was like a burnt yellow/tan
Man, I saw the orange color in the thumbnail and got super excited that my question I submitted a few weeks back was getting answered, haha. Not the case, but still awesome
Trash Panda & Pirates ! I have found my Tribe. and my box of Burnt Orange Amber Gold is on its way. So glad I grabbed that box . Can't wait to see tomorrow's surprise
Orange to burnt orange. So the question is: is it getting too hot for the pigment? I'm also curious how this process would be different if you mixed the recycle (not specifically talking about the lockdown) with your base.
I don't know anything about disc golf so this may be a stupid question. Why is it bad that they are a little heavier if you said they would probably fly really well? Is there a restriction on the weight of the disc? Do you guys have to just throw these away because they are too heavy? Loving this series by the way.
Q: How does the texture of the TPU material going into the machine change the process / result? IE: TPU pellets vs TPU disc "flakes" coming from the GRINDER.
Were all the stamps colored purple? I know when cleaning certain stamps off discs, the color comes off the foil verrry easily with minimal heat.. maybe?!
Think of that plastic as though it were coffee.. you’re getting different levels of “roasting” of the original plastic.. color shift is due to being slightly burnt? (my guess).
Don't know why hadn't thought about it before, but you all could just make some sick Dunes, Inner Cores, etc. in whatever you're favorite plastics are from other manufacturers. That's like half of what disc golfers' think about when they geek out about discs. K1 Dune? KC Inner Core? That's gotta be fun.
48 Hours left to join 6,768 other disc golfers in this year’s Disc Swap 🎁🥏 trashpandadiscgolf.com/2024-disc-swap

the dunesday
yeah its wild it wasn't said

Damn, was gonna offer a suggestion for the color of those as "Gore-ange" ;)
That explains why the 5-day box sold out quick 😅 Excited to get my pink pony Inner Core though! Super fun series, gang.
I love the fact your hopper has masking tape on it, with the legend "HOPPER" written on it.
Just in case you get confused. :)
In the fishing world they call that color "Motor Oil." It's a sweet color. Maybe call it "Murder Oil" to stick with the theme.
I kind of like the color, it reminds me of the material Ultem.
The color is Glorange
Name your price. I need one of these. As a diehard trash panda and doomsday thrower. THIS IS THE DISC I NEED!!!
Please revisit these someday! Would love to get my hands on one since it's my two favorite DG companies!

the DoomPanda Dune....now i kinda want the trash panda logo wearing a gas mask lol
Dunesday sounds so cool!!!
I love that color! I would buy one.
That color 😍

Looks like grandmas ashtray. Want one.
Hoping day 5 is a disc made from Legos

Magic eraser is the solution
@Robotron2084Guide those are abrasive and make micro scratches. The disc isn't as shiny when you finish.
You should just call it the Trash Panda Doom. Also it should be pretty quick and easy to sand the foil off with a disc sander or something like that before you throw each one in the grinder.
I think the point of the video was to see how it worked with the foil stamp still on
Where is the flighttest and whats the weight?
I would call that color "old amber" for a Jurassic Park/Aerodactyl reference.
These videos have been fascinating. Some cool stuff
So excited for the disc swap. If I got a puke disc straight from Colorado I’d lose my mind.
Editing my original comment to say that you jinxed yourself by saying day 2 was the peak!
Loving these videos. My wife and I have watched them together
I absolutely love that color--I'd buy one in a snap.

It looks like Ultem. I love that amber color, I'd honestly make my entire bag themed around that color if I could
Didn’t you see a “burnt” color effect when you recycled the same discs over and over again? The first batch was lighter and the last batch was like a burnt yellow/tan
Man, I saw the orange color in the thumbnail and got super excited that my question I submitted a few weeks back was getting answered, haha. Not the case, but still awesome
Those wont get lost in the fall leaves.. not a chance. 🙄
Would have loved too see the flight
sad i missed out on these. super fun 5 discs in 5 days.
Those discs look amazing
Kyle with the fresh cut!
Those are really cool looking. Easy to lose I’m sure. I would like one please. Thank you so much.
The doomsday blackout is my go to disc!
Love doomsday love trash panda, really hope I get this disc man!
Trash Panda & Pirates ! I have found my Tribe. and my box of Burnt Orange Amber Gold is on its way. So glad I grabbed that box . Can't wait to see tomorrow's surprise
The hot stamp is perfect
9:51 me too Kyle... me too 😂🤣
Of course the box is sold out. I would throw an overweight Dune-sday. Great content.
Didnt you get the same kind of darker and darker brown ish color when you recycled the same batch over and over again like 10 times? 🤔
If it ain't called "DoomPanda- contaminate". I will riot*
You should try to make a disc in the plastic neo soft, like the recent spore!!
I kinda love the color
That amber resin looking color is sick!! sell it to me!
That color is "Spice" is LIFE DUNE
It's the green and black in the foil stamps.
please make jawbreaker z inner cores
Awesome video and my favorite disc golf company hands down.
Pretty disappointed with how quickly these sold out and how the release sale was handled
There's a LOT of pigment in hot foil stamps. If all those stamps were blue, its certainly enough to color that orange plastic in that way.
The Trashday Dume!
those 10 should be called "Dunesdays"
How come the inner cores have that "screw?" additional piece of plastic but the dune's dont?
Do you have to clean out the equipment every time you try using different materials to make a disc?
How do i get my hands one of those cool color inner cores or dunes. the color is cool as hell
NEAT!😊
Based on the title, I was expecting a review of the "Steady" Ed Hedrick disc with his ashes molded into the disc.
The last color look like a stout beer color. Call it stout.
i hope these are for sale at some point, i strangely want one of these dooms days, lol
The arrakis
Orange to burnt orange. So the question is: is it getting too hot for the pigment?

Sell them as Plague Dunes. Or Phlegm Dunes. Or Sick Urine Dunes.
Boom!

Loving this series by the way.
It looks like you made a hash frisbee
I thought you were showing us a bowl of tomatoes 😂
Q: How does the texture of the TPU material going into the machine change the process / result? IE: TPU pellets vs TPU disc "flakes" coming from the GRINDER.
i would say the foil on the disc is causing it then? its only other variable from whats been given
Were all the stamps colored purple? I know when cleaning certain stamps off discs, the color comes off the foil verrry easily with minimal heat.. maybe?!
I would love a more overweight Dune; totally not a failure! These look so sick!
PLEASE name your hopper “Jim Hopper”
How do I score one of those dunes?
Please name this plastic “sinus infection” 😂
Not gonna lie it's kinda sad... The Lockdown is one of their best molds and my most thrown driver :(
Let’s go!! First baby
I feel compelled to point out that Jesse had to double tap the mold to get the discs off, Kyle, single tap most of the time...just sayin
sooo looks like Doomsday might've won this round ☠
Think of that plastic as though it were coffee.. you’re getting different levels of “roasting” of the original plastic.. color shift is due to being slightly burnt? (my guess).
Wish you would have waited till day 5 to release the bundles😢.
Ultem1000
Color name = The Spice

That's like half of what disc golfers' think about when they geek out about discs. K1 Dune? KC Inner Core? That's gotta be fun.
Could even add in old McBeth/Tour series that is almost KC to the KC plastic as well.
That's literally the color of motor oil, new not used
The disc looks like climate change
15s ago lol
