Thanks for the review guys love this story despite any negative points brought up in the discussion. I'm also entertained far more than most new who stories. Colin is such a fantastic Doctor very excited to get the season 22 boxset with all the new extras you touched upon in the review. Muted the spoiler section of the vid I just want a surprise lol but did watch the whole vid ,hope you guys had a great time at the filming location. Looking forward to the next review :-)

As a kid, I was fascinated with the use of Lytton as a returning character, with a redemption arc. This was so unusual back then and the performance - combined with his expanded background provided by the (admittedly non-canon) Doctor Who RPG - made him such a standout character. I would love to see Lytton make a return, possibly in Big Finish.

For those who desire only the shizz about the 60th - since they didn’t add in a note in the episode itself - it begins at 59:20

I find the quote from Russel in the DWM quite telling given that it was written pre-Beep the Meep filming (which he also hinted at in the article when he said that some monsters fans may recognise will be seen and hinted that DWM has relevance to it). It just lines up so well with what we now can speculate about with the Toymaker

It's one of my favourite stories. I love this incarnation of the Cyber Controller. His robotic movements really hit it home for me. His second-in-command on Telos is called a Cyber counsellor.

Great chat, as always. Thank you! Re: NPH in the 60th: great casting but I do hope they don't simply make who is playing too ST:TNG Q like.

I rewatched Attack of the Cybermen so I’d know what you’re talking about. Honestly it’s a great story, not much wrong with it except the music and the outfits for the cryons.
Completely disagree with it being complicated. Lytton was contacted to help the cryons because the Cybermen are gonna destroy Telos as a test for when Earth is destroyed by Haley’s Comet to save the Mondasians. Not complicated in the slightest

I’m so excited for the 60th Anniversary special. I can hardly wait for it. It’s been years since I’ve been generally excited for Doctor Who.
EDITED: it’s so weird coming back to this after the 60th. When we had all these theories. It’s surreal!

I was convinced this video was going to end with you both crying out in toothache-induced pain, much as Hartnell does at the end of The Celestial Toymaker.
One thing I haven't seen anyone mention so far - that particular episode does have a bit where Hartnell says something along the lines of 'I think we'll see [the Toymaker] again one day'. I'm wondering if RTD intends to use this clip, in much the same way The Five Doctors opened with Hartnell's 'One day I shall come back' speech.

If the toymaker is back could he turn David Tennant invisible and then turn him back as Ncuti Gatwa just like the originals plans were in the 60s before regeneration was created

Part One is one of my favourite episodes but I lose interest in part two on Telos.
It's big issue is that there is no story. Nothing is taking place - things are mentioned but there is nothing happening on screen to back it up. It needed a dramatic countdown to give it a finale but it's just ... oh - A problem that much of the season has. Plotting is always a massive Saward issue. Poor Eric Saward never gets any royalties for Attack - they go to Paula Woolsey, his ex-girlfriend - and they aren't talking anymore...

I wouldn't be surprised if Jodie is seen regenerating into Ncuti for a few moments, but then somehow the regeneration rewinds and we end up with DT... That way we know it was meant to be Ncuti, and we're finding a way back there during the 3 Tennant episodes...

If Murray Gold is coming back to, Murray Gold + Neil Patrick Harris, definitely a musical number.

Once again, Eric Saward's novelisation makes Attack of the Cybermen the worthy sequel to "Tombs" that it should be.

Commenting on Doctor Who Redacted, the idea of a just being a podcast is a solid concept that can easily run for 10 episodes. You guys doing review of death is solid proof of that. Having a podcast team reacting to events in the Doctor Who world like they're real life events is a clever idea that could be experimented with and have different reactions to. You could even have it run alongside a current season of Doctor Who like how you guys did with Flux. I haven't listened to it myself but that's my view on the whole concept going by what you guys say. 🙂

Yeah David Banks should of been the Controller and have Mark Hardy as the Cyber lft running things on earth.
Damn i had no idea about Colins loss being that close to doing the episodes, even more respect for the man.
Dalek Invasion of Earth 2150 was on around the 50th it was on film4 but then again they channel 4 regular shows the Dalek films, esp on bank holidays. Weirdly enough its always Invasion of the Earth, they rarely show "the Daleks" movie.
Love that in the final few minutes of this you can hear someone in the background doing what sounds like the dishes lol

Why not have David Banks play the Controller on Telos and the Leader on Earth? They're only on screen together twice.

I can't help but wonder if some of the things we see on set aren't actually meant for the episode but are red herrings to mislead the DWSR people, like Beep the Meep, I feel like he's not really going to be in there, what we've seen of him is so weirdly hokey looking I can't imagine how that could really be in there.

Are you the only Doctor Who fans that ever existed anywhere in the entire world who can seemingly discuss every singular granular detail of the classic series, but somehow never remember when episodes were made or originally broadcast? Seriously? Everyone knows that we hardcore Doctor Who fans - especially those who make lengthy review videos for TH-cam - can recite production codes and air dates ad infinitum! “What year was it… 1985 or whenever?” Really? “…or whenever it was”? Oh please! Who are you trying to fool? You’re reviewing the only episodes of Doctor Who that debuted in 1985, and you’re discussing the hiatus and Michael Grade, both of which have been widely referenced as defining features of 1985 for Doctor Who for more than 37 years now! “…or whenever it was”??? Give me a break! To quote Patrick Troughton from 1985’s “The Two Doctors”, as referenced by you multiple times in this video - “I've never heard such specious claptrap!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
