Yes. 100%. I can listen to their songs and blend it into my memories perfectly as though they were there all along. They emulate nostalgic emotion. But In a good way.
This was the soundtrack to the last summer before heading off to college, driving around back roads at the end of the day. Recall the lump the in my throat it would give me, trying not to think too much about how I was never going to have the freedom like I did in that present moment ever again.
Growing up, I started listening to classic rock, then grunge, indie rock, shoegaze, indie pop, etc... Now, If I had to choose to bring only one band to a desert island, I would only bring The Radio Dept.
this is the band i turn to when i feel down, when i want to hear something sincere and sentimental . i think they really knew theyd have a special place in peoples hearts if they made this kinda music and thats what they wanted.
I came across this song a few months after it was posted back in 2006. I was 14 and celebrating starting high school. High school ended up sucking, but I’ll never forget the hype haha
This song gives me nostalgia, being 6 years old in 2007-2008, my mom, dad, and sister riding home from the mall on a sunset, I never heard this song back then, but this song brings me back to that time
what a beautiful song. it feels like yesterday that i introduced my significant other to this song and in a serendipitous moment as he was listening, he witnessed a shooting star falling towards my direction. we're in long distance but every time i hear this, it's as if it encompasses every warm feeling i had that night. not to mention that second verse as it's really touching for me.
"In time we might walk the straight line But with memories of a grapevine A guitar, as we came close from far Forgot about the war We barely touched As if being watched And even in time We’ll give in to crime We’ll be on the line Pulling our weight Many miles from where I’m sleeping You share laughter in the evening As do I, in the great divine Yours is mine We’ll find love The kind we’re dreaming of And even in time We’ll give in to crime We’ll be on the line Pulling our weight"
Remember hearing this in "Marie Antoinette" years ago when it was in theatres. Actually discovered this band only recently through The Jesus and Mary Chain, and thought they sounded familiar. Their discography is brilliant, especially the album, 'Clinging To A Scheme'.
They played this song as they were leading Marie Antoinette up the steps to her beheading. She looked skyward and knew she'd be in a better place soon. True story.
I've found this song and band some days ago, since then, I am addicted to this song and to the band. I've listened to this song more than 100 in few days, I am not kidding.
the day this song was released a few years ago...was the beginning of an amazing relationship with The Radio Dept. I have played this song every single day since it was released, and I will never grow tired of hearing it.

You have the freedom of right now…always
this song feels like the optimism of my youth
WOW hahahhaa How optimistic!
Every time i listen to this song i get this overwhelming feeling of melancholy.
Growing up, I started listening to classic rock, then grunge, indie rock, shoegaze, indie pop, etc... Now, If I had to choose to bring only one band to a desert island, I would only bring The Radio Dept.
Exactly the same here!
@Asmidisha Ghosh Hi Asmidisha! Thank you very much for for the suggestion. I will check them out right away. Thank you for connecting
For me it would be beach house, radio dept is great but it just doesn’t beat beach house for me

I hope you’ve gotten to see them since the time you’ve posted this, 14 years ago. I liked this comment like 13 years ago. Btw.
I had the privilege to see them 6 years ago. Cathartic.

I used to listen to this song a lot in college... hard to believe that was 16 years ago 😔
Least you're still around :)
Love that dreamy voice. Makes me forget the outside world and all its troubles.
One of those songs always making me feel better, timeless classic
This song was my anthem, as it reminded me of a long distance love. "we bearly touched, as if being watched"... I was the crying cloud
You'll never be... Maria Magdalena...
This song gives me nostalgia, being 6 years old in 2007-2008, my mom, dad, and sister riding home from the mall on a sunset, I never heard this song back then, but this song brings me back to that time
this song touches on all the strings that makes my soul feel free, i love this, and i love you all
hope you're still around brother :)
My favourite song of all time. It sounds like love.
Greatest song I've heard in years. Melancholic upbeat with a haunting melody and fantastic singing.
A very alternative way of depicting love,
Amazing song. I actually love all the songs by the Radio dept, they are awesome.

love this song and my wife too
Many miles from where I'm sleeping
You share laughter in the evenings
As do I, in the great divine

You sound like you're being forced by your wife to say that you lover her
I’ll go so long without hearing this and something inevitably brings me back
