Jedes Jahr im Februar ist Berlin für elf Tage ein einzigartiger Ort der künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung und der Unterhaltung. Dann ist Berlinale Zeit. Die Berlinale ist das größten Publikumsfilmfestivals der Welt, das Zehntausende Besucher aus aller Welt nach Berlin holt. Für die Filmbranche und die Presse sind diese elf Tage im Februar zugleich eines der wichtigsten Ereignisse im Jahreskalender und ein unverzichtbarer Handelsplatz.
Die Berlinale bringt die großen Stars des internationalen Kinos nach Berlin und entdeckt neue Talente. Sie begleitet Filmschaffende aller Gewerke auf ihrem Weg ins Rampenlicht, fördert Karrieren, Projekte, Träume, Visionen und sie taucht die Stadt Berlin in dieser Zeit in das schillernde
Licht der Filmwelt - besonders in der Nacht.
Erika Rabau war seit über 50 Jahren die offizielle fotografische Begleitung der Berliner Filmfestspiele und war fester Bestandteil der Berlinale. Egal wo man ihr begegnete, sie saß immer in der ersten Reihe. In ihrer langjährigen Arbeit bis zu ihrem Tod im Jahre 2016, wurde sie durch ihre Ausstrahlung und ihr Auftreten ein unverwechselbares Gesicht der Berlinale und selbst zu einer Marke des Filmfestivals. Dafür wurde sie 2004 für ihre Verdienste um die Internationalen Filmfestspiele mit einer Berlinale Kamera ausgezeichnet.

Every year in February, Berlin is a unique place for eleven days of artistic debate and entertainment. Then it's time for the Berlinale. The Berlinale is the largest public film festival in the world, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world to Berlin every year. For the film industry and the press, the eleven days in February are at the same time one of the most important events in the annual calendar and an indispensable trading centre.
The Berlinale brings the big stars of international cinema to Berlin and discovers new talents. It accompanies filmmakers of all disciplines on their paths into the spotlight and supports careers, projects, dreams and visions and immerses the city of Berlin in the dazzling light of the film world - especially at night.
Erika Rabau has been the official photographic accompanist of the Berlin Film Festival for over 50 years and was an integral part of the Berlinale. No matter where you met her, she always sat in the front row. In her many years of work until her death in 2016, her charisma and appearance made her an unmistakable face of the Berlinale and herself a brand of the film festival. In 2004 she was awarded a Berlinale Camera for her services to the International Film Festival.
The Berlinale trailer was created for the Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin. It is the opener for every film screening during the official programme of all Berlinale sections. Director Uli M. Schüppel conceived and created the trailer, while the music was composed by producer/writer team raccoonsatwork, consisting of Xaver Naudascher and Johannes Koeniger. The 50-second computer animation was realized by “das werk berlin”.
