    Rocky is a fantastic series.
    It speaks to men on a deep level about overcoming fear, seemingly insurmountable odds, and fighting your own demons to help others and be the best you can be. And he will go to crazy lengths to provide for his family, and be an example for his son.
    Rocky struggles throughout, and has his own flaws. He really is the every man.

    The character of Rocky is one that i get inspired with. I consider myself a man's man, but each of his movies bring a tear to my eye, because I can identify with his struggle to not allow life kick him down for good, but always come back up stronger. Not to mention, in 2006 I was going through my own personal crusade, and when I saw Rocky 6 in the theater, it really touched me like a breath of fresh air. From his speech to his son outside the restaurant, to him telling Paulie that he still feels like he has something left to offer the squared circle, the regrets that Paulie had for the way he treated Adrian, and when he faced his opponent in Vegas and went the distance his son telling him "everyone thought this match was gonna be a joke, including me. Now no one is laughing". I have to say that it helped me get myself together, work my ass off, and become the man I am today.
    Sly, I am not sure if you read these comments, but if you do, I want to say thank you for sharing such an iconic character with us. So many of us have been inspired by him to get back up when life hits us hard. Once again, thank you

    Rocky is the ultimate underdog story, fictional or not. One of the greatest films of all time. I've seen Rocky more times than I can remember. One time Rocky was playing on TV and I was getting ready for work. Even though I knew how it ended I couldn't look away, let's just say I was late for work. My boss was pissed but when I told him that was watching Rocky, he completely understood.

      Manny Pacquiao's real life story is much greater than Rocky's story. Pacquiao faced more poverty and adversity than Rocky. He went without food, didn't have a house, and had to sleep on the streets. Emmanuel Pacquiao grew up in poverty in a 3rd world country. He then became an 8-division world champion, then he ran for President of his country.

    Rocky to me is the greatest series ever made. It inspires me in all aspects of life to never give up and to push through all the struggles we face each and every day. I almost never cry, but these movies almost always make me tear up. The line that always hits me the most and makes me tear up is the end of rocky 2 after the fight with Apollo when he says “I just wanna say one thing to my wife who’s at home. Yo Adrian I did it” then she replies with tears in her eyes saying “I love you” just typing it is almost making me tear up. Such an amazing series and an amazing story. I can not thank you enough sly.

    • @zloungeact
      @zloungeact 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's a great scene. I think a really overlooked scene in part 1 is when Rocky tells Adrian he can't beat Apollo the night before the fight but that he wants to go the distance so he can prove to himself that he isn't just another but from the neighborhood.
      That scene has so much emotion, character development, depth and awareness. It's brilliant.

    • @drew3401
      @drew3401 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zloungeact agreed man that’s a very good scene as well. Stallone himself said rocky is a drama first that has boxing in it not the other way around. And I think that’s what makes the movies not just sports movies, but on a whole new level entirely because they’re real and relatable. The series has so many brilliant moments/scenes. The music is on another level too.

    Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang & especially Ivan Drago would all be my suggestions. As for Clubber Lang (portrayed by Mr. T), my mom was actually from Chicago herself. Also, you should try doing documentaries on other types of martial artists like Bolo Yeung (he played Chong-Li in Bloodsport and also was in the Bruce Lee film Enter the Dragon). Bruce Lee is another guy you could do a documentary on.

    Only four people knew the result of the third and untelevised fight... Balboa, Apollo, his wife, and Adonis Creed...Rocky told Adonis it was his father who won, that he was the superior fighter. Rocky had no reason to lie to Adonis and he always thought Creed was the best fighter who ever lived.

    He did reveal that Apollo Creed won the 3rd fight and to all those who say that Rocky just said that out of respect, it’s not hard at all to believe Apollo Creed won because he was always a better fighter than Rocky was skill wise. In the 2nd fight it clearly showed who was the superior fighter in the ring Creed won every round except 2 rounds that being going into the 10th the judge said Apollo lost his first round and then you could say Rocky won the 15th and he barely beat Apollo by 1 second if Apollo stood up he would’ve won by unanimous decision. So in a private match I could see Apollo still being the superior fighter but this time Rocky doesn’t have the crowd behind him pushing him to keep fighting it’s all down to the 2 men and their skill without the pressure of the media or having to prove anything to anyone outside of themselves. So I see no reason that Rocky would lie he has always been a stand up guy and true to his word. With that being said Rocky and Apollo were both amazing characters and I loved their coming together as friends and wish it lasted longer throughout the series. I wish they had a director’s cut of that 3rd fight to reveal to the public because it’s one of the biggest mysteries in the history of film. Basically like the Emerald Tablets of film and had the movie Creed not come out and gave us an answer it would still be up in the air on who won. Stallone is a genius and will forever be a legend for giving us this wonderful franchise that has taught me many lessons throughout my life as I’m sure it has done for millions of people around the world of all ages

    Haven't seem the video yet, merely watched 10 seconds, but what I love the most about the Rocky saga is that it's a movie focused nearly entirely on masculinity, and how it is more complex than most people think. Yes, Rocky is a man, and even when life constantly beats the shit out of him, he keeps going. In the franchise, people look up to him as a role model, but they never know exactly what he goes through. He bleeds, sweats, and also *cries* but he'll always find a way to make up to the role that was attached to him.

    David Goggins stated his motivation comes from the 14th round. Which is a reference to when Rocky is beaten up, but he is not beaten.
    Speaking of which... hey Steven perhaps a documentary on that guy? 😉

      + 10:52 didn't they show the part where they agreed to train and that rocky would own a "favor" he could not refuse but he didn't exactly tell what it was?
      + 12:29 I think rocky did tell creed jr later on that creed did in fact win it.
