Freddie had control over a very big range and he sang every note on his octave range to perfection. He has the most amazing vocal control that I've ever listened to. He's truly the best 🔥
I think with Freddie, the emotion is key. He's an amazing vocalist but I think it's the phrasing, emotion and performance that comes through that makes him sound perfect. He never gave less than 100% and I like that they leave the raw emotion on the mix. That's music and that's art. Listen to an auto-tuned, unemotional singer and it leaves you cold. This is music. This is talent. This is genius.

What a great singer and performer Freddie was! So many years after his passing, I still can’t experience anything on that scale that he was able to constantly deliver… And that raw power in his voice was second to none! He would simply blow you off the stage if you dared to share it with him to begin with! It’s no coincidence that so many adore him to this day. There is just no substitute for the honest expression he brings through his music. One of my favorite, less popular songs, he sang is Soul Brother. Give it a listen, you won’t regret it!
Hes not perfect, hes human. That is why he is the greatest of all time. The imperfections make the music all the better, because you know there is raw emotions in it. Its honestly really interesting and amazing though how the music interplays with his emotions as well as his singing. Taking away the insturments you hear the emotional journey so much more, then when they come back you see how they compliment them.

It’s not about perfection as many people have stated. I think this is a virtuoso singer singing a flawless perfect song. This is my all-time favorite queen song and when I learned it was Freddys I was tickled pink. Amazing singer amazing performer

Glad that you ended with that critical observation: yeah, in isolation some bits seemed surprisingly imperfect ..BUT when you hear them in the context of the completed work, the genius of Freddie the composer renders moot any criticism of Freddie the vocalist. Excellent break down, Ken - thank you for sharing your keen insights!
I love your shirt! Jesus the good shepherd is my favourite icon so far. These videos are great. I am using the David Bowie one to give my student hope!
Freddie's live vocals of this song is amazing. This may be my favorite song of all-time. The lyrics and emotion is unlike any song I have heard. I mean I'm 22, so I haven't heard everything, Lol. But this is just a super special song.
Ken you get compliments all the time. But really, your videos really entertain me. If you are ever having a bad day I’d like you to realise that your videos have really given me a lot of joy over the years. Thank you.
Hey Ken! Somebody To Love is also my favorite Queen song. Not only the vocals but the music is so emotional. Such a feel good song! Well even after several videos on Freddie you still find many entertaining things to say about this great frontman and band. Another very informative and entertaining video Ken. I know i have mentioned this before, but Queen's time on stage at Live Aid is one of their best performances ever. PHENOMENAL!!!😎
If you listen to Freddie’s later stuff (middle 80s A Kind of Magic era), his singing is definitely got better and better over time. There are many non popular songs from Queen and his solo stuff where his vocals are out of this world. He was more polished in his later years. He is not only phenomenal singer, but also a genius musician/songwriter and probably the greatest frontman ever lived.
Love Freddie!! Great to hear his isolated voice, and very breathy or how do I call it 😂 Thankyou, hope to see more Queen-Freddie. Love the tshirt by the way. Much bless🍀

I appreciate your showing that these people are human. I've been thinking about that a lot. You really put that in my mind. It's helpful when I start to feel negative. And then I remember and try to keep working. There's something about this performance. Even just listening to the isolated vocals in little bits. It brings tears to my eyes. Thanks for another great video.
Ken, if you want to see Freddie do honest to god blues licks, you need to analyze the live version of this song at Montreal in 1981. No weak vibrato either. Freddie was an amazing creator, but put him on a stage live and he can't be beaten. This live version is absolutely awe inspiring. How in the world they were able to orchestrate this song for a live version (when the recorded version had so many overdubs in the harmonies) and still get the gospel feel and emotion is almost unfathomable.
So interesting how my impressions from listening to Freddie as a layperson are so different from you as an expert in technical singing. When you just expose Freddie's naked voice, it has so many imperfections, pitchy and human. But I think that's WHY he is so unique and time less.
Wow! Emotion, passion and intensity is dominant in his singing. Great Attitude singing. Great orchestration. Unique song writing and composition. Love this series. Thanks sir Ken.
