I’m building my P51 mustang with retractable landing gears with a bracket I designed on my own on a 3D printer to fit in between the spars. I learnt a lot of lessons after building the master series spitfire and I’m also thinking of covering the P51 with fiber glass for improved strength. Sweet mustang!
Have fun on the build. This design really lends itself well to good fitment of the pieces. Watch the weight on the fiber glass. Even though the design flies well, it is fast as it is. Just landing it you need to be on it, at least that was what it was like for me. It will be even faster and more difficult to land as you add weight. Myself i prefer to avoid crashing with a lighter craft then adding weight in trying to protect the craft from breaking up on sudden gusts of gravity lol
great information, nice looking plane. I also put a 3536 motor in mine, so same problems. I have found if you put static landing on an FT plane it works best to put a piece of 3/16 plywood in the wing secured between the leading edge and the spar. your plane flies great and has great vertical. Nice job.
Thank you sir. Appreciate the compliment. Hey question are you on Discord? We have a real time global community goin there, most from the FT forums you may recognize. We do video build parties and have regular podcasts. If you are interested i will send you an invite
Great maiden. Sorry that landing was a little rough, but it looks like it will survive to fly another day. I am in the process of building one right now from printed plans. Can't wait to fly this thing. Cheers! Where did you buy your decals from?
Thanks man it was a good flight, and there were a few more after that. If you have seen some of the vids i am tough on these planes, needless to say the Mustang no longer is in the fleet. I did mine from the printed plans as well. I actually like it better then the SBK's. With printed plans you can easily modify to your liking. SBK's are precut so it limits your options unless you buy and cut your own FB. Price of kits and shipping times/cost easily drops them as an option for me. I wish you a solid maiden my friend. The decals were just printed off the laptop on regular paper then taped on, nothing special. Just searched up star and bars on google images and sent them to the printer
Hey Chris, Great job, beautiful build, one of your best in my opinion. Really like your paint scheme. Which Rust. 2x, blue did you use for this build? I just stubbled onto this maiden today, haven't visited the forum in awhile. You've got the perfect power set up, 11x5.5 w/ 4s the way to go. It's really tough to land the master series with gear (w/o) flaps, they glide forever, hard to scrub the speed. Great view of the gear, thanks. Recently added gear to the Ft P 40 and had complete success with it, taking off and landing at the field. You know me as Marty 72
Marty! Thanks for the comment. I really feel this is my best build yet. As much as i try to get to your quality, it still is just FB. It was a great maiden, and i do suggest buildimg it, and then flying the hell out of it. The intake is nothing with LG.
What is the all up weight? How much the motor is producing? I have hobbyking turnigy sk3 3536 1200kv motor.i will try it on master series planes.thanks for the video.
The AUW is as stock listed on the plans without the battery, then add a 4s 2200mah at over 200 grams. If you use the same kind of power system the weight wont matter much, it produces almost two to one. It is a fast plane and needs to be flown that way, its no simple Scout thats for sure. Good Luck

Looking at getting me the Mustang now. I just subscribed! Great job
Beautiful work ,dude ! As always ...
Amazing Maiden and Flight well done Chis
I have these MS planes dialed in, could you tell by the landing
Love the mustang and she fly’s superb, nice job m8
Nice job on gear, good looking warbird all around!
I just saw a picture of this color scheme today and was like, “damn, that’d be nice on an RC Mustang!”
And my dreams came true😂
Really well look at that, great minds think alike
Nice paint job! 10x better than mine...but I'm into the flying more than the look. Very well done!

@@1brennos Cool man here is an invite link, lasts for 7 days. Actually recording a podcast with a prototype engineer from NASA, cool stuff

Nice looking build and flight! Flight times?
I dont have it anymore, but I think I was getting 7-8 mins on it. Thanks for watching
Hi, your p51 looks amazing! Did you know the weight with and without the battery of your p51 ?
Honestly I dont remember how much it weighed. It did fly like a dream though. Thanks for the comment
Very gooood beatiful plane
Thank you
Hi, what size propeller do you use? With motor 3536 1200kv and 4s

Good work. May I know the size or diameter of the landing gear ?
I think It was 3" wheels by DuBro, foam tires. Nice and light. Are you building one?
@@North49RC thx for your reply. Yes sir, I’m building one.
