  • Trying to get the hang of my new POV camera, so I can show you guys a fun way to introduce your pups to water! I know some of you won't like the music at the first of the video, but if you do, please support another home grown Kentucky boy...Sturgill Simpson, here's a link to his albums: sturgillsimpson...

My sister just moved to Kentucky yesterday. Gorgeous place and I might have to get over there myself since Texas aint what it used to be. Getting my Lab Pup back from 4 months of training in two weeks! Appreciate your videos. They sure will help me upkeep his training since he'll only be 1 y/o when he's back. Love the music too I'll have to put in on my playlist!

I have a 2 year old black lab and he seems to learn everything very quickly. I found your videos a week or so ago and they are great. I have already taught my dog all of that and am in the process of trying to train directions. He understands right and left paw and also while walking him I can tell him to turn right or left. What I am trying to train is when i send him after a toy in an open field to turn right or left if he passes it or possibly looses track of it. Thanks and again your videos are great.

I see you play Sturgill often. We got to meet him in May 2014 in Ireland. I have his whole show on my TH-cam channel. He was performing in a small bar doing a solo acoustic show. Check it out you will love it. Very nice guy. he sat and talked with us for an hour before his show.

out here in wa state the river has a real fast undercurrent - i know bird dog trainers use certain areas of the river - but lots of people have drowned, and there's an area called dead dog zone. it makes me leery of it, you have to go in at the popular spots, around a lot of other dogs, and i really want to work just with her and my rottie. she's maybe 10 weeks, and small but a real fiesty fiery golden retriever. she's training real easy - so i'm watchin' all your videos. we have used the same trainer for 16 yrs, she specializes in bird dog training, her name is Marilyn Keech. great trainer

Hi Stonnie Dennis , greetings from the UK!
Really like your videos and I have been watching all of them in this labrador series.
I also have a black lab who is about 2 years now. We had him since he was 8 weeks old and new him since he was born (we knew the breeder). We found training him really hard because he doesn't care about treats (unlike most labradors). He is scared of everything (any noise really EXCEPT dogs - ignores us when he sees another dog) but is the most general dog you will ever meet.
Would you say training him at this age to be too late and what would you suggest to keep his attention when he doesnt really care for treats?
Thanks and keep up the great work!!

Howdy, Stonnie! My 8 week old lab puppy comes home soon and feeding information is pretty vague online. I'll be starting him on some all natural chicken based kibble food and I'm really curious how much/how often I should be feeding him to achieve a strong healthy physique. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Stonnie, I have been using your videos to take my ex-Guide dog Puppy ( she failed on dog distraction) to try fetch, in preparation for tracking, hunting etc. We just had an amazing success today. For the first time she fetched a (squeaky) dumbell 'right to hand', but also in the field of our Dog Obedience Club. As a result she has moved to Grade 3 tonight which opens up lots of new training options and competition for her. Sorry, no video...I was too busy doing the handling. Because of this video I took Adele out to our backyard and started de-sensitising her to water (There's a photo of the bucket on PuddleandPile.com) So at least you can see a pic. of that. I'll try to get a video of her introduction to beach water this summer ( in Australia) cheers, Fiona

I've got a 3 month old choco lab puppy that already loves the water. However, when retrieving bumpers from the water he swallows a lot of water while swimming back with the bumper in his mouth. He usually gags and vomits afterward. Do you see this commonly with your pups? Thanks for the vids. Been using your techniques. God bless.

I am learning so much from your videos, they are great. I have been watching since we got our choc lab Cocoa she is soooo smart and I have been meaning to send you a video. 1 big problem tho I don't know what to do about her biting, about the last 3 weeks she has been biting everyone not hard or anything and I know she is just playing but it really hurts and I cant get her to stop. I know she understands and its like she is trying to stop but just cant control herself. I have bought all kinds of toy/bones and stuff for her to chew on but she wants to chew on us lol I am sure she will grow out of this but any advise on what do do in the meantime? Thanks again you are awesome!
