Shout out to how TOUGH hellebores are. I bought a root bound hellebore at a discount at my local garden center (mildew on the soil surface) and stuck it in 8 hours of sun in my zone 10 climate. Oops. It was there from spring to winter before I finally dug it out. All the foliage crisped and died.
I was sure I killed it. I dug it out and squeezed it into a pot (its roots had already spread out. It's now in dappled light under my gazebo. It actually started growing and producing leaves!!!
Besides being in full sun and me messing with its roots, it's now thriving.
I had to go buy 3 more. 😆

I sing in the garden all the time. I have chronic pain, and tend to hold my breath when in pain, which exacerbates it and limits the time I can work for. Put on a song I love and I can't NOT sing! Which, of course, makes me BREATHE, and enables me to work in the garden for hours!! I love it.

My Mom used to grow the most amazing dahlias. She would plant them out in the spring and dig them up in the fall and store them in the cellar for the winter. I don't remember her dividing them unless they got super big. Then she would just break them apart and plant them ( she could grow plants in pavement!! lol!). Her tubers were always large when she planted them.

Laura, why not put a small picnic table in the little grassy area? And perhaps just a basic swing set. With a couple of swings and a slide. I always enjoyed taking my children to the park as well. Much more elaborate playground equipment and other children to play with. But since you all spend so much time in that area as a family, it could aid in keeping the little ones in eye shot and a special little spot for picnics and snacks. Children are so precious when you see them sitting at a child size table or chair and they feel more grown up lol.

Regarding what happens if you don’t divide your dahlias.. In 2020 I bought a potted dahlia plant at my local garden center, I loved it so much I successfully stored the full clump of tubers and forced it in early spring 2021.. Halfway through the season the plant basically became a shrub and stopped flowering.. I was worried that it had leafy gall because of all of the growth on it… When I removed it in the fall, I had 123 tubers from that ONE plant! It was clear of leafy gall, but it basically over crowded itself..

I'm enough of a rebel that when somebody asks me to like/subscribe, I don't want to do it, no matter how much I love them! But for these guys, I like every video automatically because 1) they deserve it, and 2) I don't want TH-cam to let me miss a single video. It's more fun when it feels like my idea 😄

I still start all my days off on the treadmill watching you. When it warms my walks will be out doors. Besides all my fav parts, your trips with Aaron or anyone in your family, my next favorite thing is how nice you are to people. I just want to be nice but I would find myself screaming 'did you even watch the video?' I do it for you! I shake my head.....you are both so patient, so nice.....I couldn't do it. Lol.....

Always hit the Like first thing as I appreciate every video. It is always so nice to see Laura at Andrews working with her family. That you all help and have fun together is always lovely. The shopping trips are wonderful too. Thanks for all you do.

The comment about asking for likes and comments actually made me think about how often I hit the like button. So I just did! I watch and rewatch your videos so many times and you just don't think about it. I'm going to be more conscious of it, because I love this channel and love to support you guys. You have sparked such a love of gardening in a city girl from N.Y who moved to Maryland years ago. Never cared to be outside in the garden until I stumbled across your channel years ago. Now it's Supertunias everywhere! Keep being exactly who you are, we love it!

Would a mini split heating and air conditioning unit work well in your flower shed? You do many cut flower projects in the summertime. It could be nice to keep everything and everyone cool for the duration. Thank you for your amazing work and energy. You sure inspire us!

You have some serious musical talent in your family. I'm not going to ask (again) for a concert, but just know that, speaking strictly for myself, any video featuring either of you playing would be very well-received. ~ Lisa

Do you ever use your amaryllis in outdoor summer arrangements? I usually move my pots outside after last frost, sprinkle some plant tone around them and they repeat flower throughout the summer. I move them to a cool garage before the first frost. I never see anyone else do this, but it's nice to have them as more than a Christmas flower. I was late bringing them out of cool storage this year, so I'm looking at their flowers right now!

Laura 19:29 this will clarify what I’m talking about. Take your phone to the iPhone store and have them do a quick vacuum clean on your speaker system.
    They do it for free.
I was shocked that I could voice text again and also the audio was back to normal.
They use some kind of machine to suck out the dirt and grime in your speakers.
Have them do all the speakers ,it only takes a 5 minutes.
    Hugs 🤗 from Charlie‘s Chicks TH-cam channel.

I went back and hit like on several videos that already had 11K and 12k likes but from now on, I will like them all. Thanks for all your videos. I even enjoy the ones that are not all about flowers. Don't change a thing.

Liking the video is the first thing I do when watching GA videos, even before watching. The algorithms on TH-cam (except for political videos) are such that you see more of the same, if you "like" the videos that you enjoy.

Suggestion for the grass area next to the vegetable garden: Instead of flower beds, you could add a circler bench around the tree trunk. It could be made of wood, metal or concrete, depending on the feel you want to continue in the area. The added bench will give some interest without impeding onto the grass you want to keep to play and lay on.

    • @dannac_8888
      @dannac_8888 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice!
Cement arched benches would keep with the formality with tufts of supertunias in between.
I was watching the great gardens series and it hit me that Laura had a past life in one of those areas with tons of structure and symmetry and possibly an herb garden.

Honestly with every video you post on both channels, I click the like on the video, then click play, then click full screen mode. I’m such a creature of habit, but I know that no matter what the video entails, I’m going to love it. Does anyone know if “liking” comments helps the channel also?

I’ve never heard Aaron sing but I have heard him play the guitar. I have also heard Laura play the piano and I can say it is all fantastic. I think the question “do you have a good singing voice” would be hard to answer, especially for folks like Laura and Aaron who seem like people who are not going to toot their own horn, which is one reason I enjoy them. Anyway, Laura we know you try and keep the channel on topic of garden but MAYBE you could have Aaron record you guys playing and that could be the background music for one of your videos. THEN we get the best of both worlds! We can enjoy the music PLUS the video could still be garden related!
