Dick, would you mind sharing how you calculate fuel usage during the planning stages vs in-flight? I assume you use conservative vs actually, respectively. I'm trying to figure out the legs on the M600.

Hi Patrick, The M600 is an excellent personal aircraft in that it provides optimized range and payload over anything in its price range. Foreflight is probably the most frequent flight planning software in use today. I recommend that each owner pilot subscribe to the performance plus version which has the features required by this excellent high performance aircraft. You can build very complex and accurate profiles with most planning software, but it may not be necessary. Rules of thumb are great for advanced planning, however the alternatives are likely to be derived from using the advanced features in Foreflight.. once in the aircraft, the FOB sync feature will allow the pilot to accurately know fuel on board. With the G3000 avionics and capacitance probe fuel measurement system available in the M600, fuel calculations are easily and accurately managed. Crossing the North Atlantic is accomplished with confidence with this system. Burn rates vary a great deal and winds aloft will of course affect ground speed. XM weather and the advanced features of the Garmin G3000 will make any flight an absolute joy... Fly Safely - Train Often .. DR

@@RWRPilotTraining I see, thanks. I was hoping for a typical burn rate. For example, I fly Saab 340's and we plan at 500kg/hr in cruise but regularly see 400kg/hr actual. Would you be able to share this kind of information?

The M600 has longer legs than all the pother PA46.. 1400NM. It burns 360 in the climb and 260 or so in cruise. It is an absolute joy to fly.. DR

@@RWRPilotTraining Thank you! That's exactly what I wanted to know. It looks like a wonderful aircraft to operate.

    What is makeup gas?

Hi Blake. Thank you for your question. The reference to make-up gas at the very end of this video refers to a feature on the mask that allows the wearer to select 100% oxygen or something less. The obvious advantage of 100% oxygen is very quick mental recovery. The disadvantage is that the oxygen supply may not last if the emergency descent is delayed for any reason. In this case the mask can be switched off of the 100% mode. If this switch is made, then some of the ambient gas in the cockpit is used as “make-up gas”. The mixture is then less than 100% oxygen but still high enough to support an oximeter reading above 90%. If smoke or toxicity exists in the cabin the mask must be left in the 100% oxygen position. I hope this explanation helps. Fly Safely - Train Often ... DR

Yes.. I like to check occasionally to see if I am being heard by the pilot.. I was just kidding. Oxygen is tasteless and odorless! .. Fly Safely - Train Often .. DR
