SELECTION PROJECT is a nationwide idol audition reality show held every summer. It's the biggest gateway to success for girls who aspire to become idols. It is also the birthplace of the legendary idol, Akari Amasawa. Suzune Miyama is one of the girls who longed to stand on such a dream stage. Having been sickly since she was a child, she listened to Akari's songs many times in her hospital room. Her songs made Suzune happy and gave her courage.
In order to become an idol like Akari, Suzune decides to participate in the 7th SELECTION PROJECT during the last summer of junior high school. Only a few stars are chosen from among thousands of candidates. In order to make their dreams come true, the girls' passionate and tough battle has begun.
