The Abyss level is located on the same place that Jake goes before he dies on Scene 15 - Withdrawal. The only difference is that the place is dark as hell.
@@mftripz8445 This made me realize how much of an absolute chad Jake could've been by surrendering himself to the police (because y'know, he killed a fuckton of people) and telling them all about 50 blessings. One person could've changed everything, god, this is why I love this game.
I guess it's because listening to the entire soundtrack and it's best songs makes you bored of them, and so you switch to some less popular songs. Happened to me, I'm a fan of this, blizzard, ms minnie and it's safe now cos I've legit listened to every other song
This level is truly amazing. It's called The Abyss because it represents the nihilism of 50 Blessings. They know their actions may lead to nuclear armageddon and have accepted that, as long as they can get their revenge. This is why they built the bunker in The Abyss. Ideologically, they are bereft of any other values or standards outside of a singular goal they work towards with brutal efficiency. There is not a shred of morality left in them. In other words, the Abyss is not just a level but a way of thinking. It exists within all of us, and 50 Blessings is the logical conclusion. To quote Nietzsche (whom this level title no doubt references), "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."
I also feel like it can be related to sort of the deepest exploration of the theme "your actions have consequences" which runs throughout HM2. It is implied that this is sort of a dream that Evan has, which means he has already basically figured out what 50 Blessings is and what they were going to do. For some reason, he refuses to act on it and remains in wilful ignorance, perhaps out of fame, or fear. He could have singlehandedly stopped 50 Blessings, but he refused to, which resulted in the end of the world. I see it as the most consequential action in the entire game, showing the deepest parts of evan's psyche and the deepest weakness of any of the characters in the story.

When you keep doing the same thing over and over again you usually wind up losing quality *cough cough COD* after the first few games. Some people say that this entire level is just Dennaton saying to us that there will be no Hotline Miami 3, but I don't think is that (after all, the game ended with all the characters dying for a nuclear explotion). The implications for this level are pretty huge. Was it all Jake's death coma nightmare? Or was Evan originally intended to put a stop to everything? Nobody knows, but this is it boys, if you got here like I did the party is over. We'll never get anything from this franchise ever again.

@@rooknizan2923 story wise. I think is easier when you disarm the enemies, but I like to kill them to so they cannot get away hiding in the bunker, nobody wins. I like to think the people wearing masks are the ones you encounter throughout the level
if you played the first game, you would've known that that was 50 blessings, the organisation that jake, richter and the guy beard saved (jacket, the protagonist of hm1) were working for, jake knew too much and they killed him, but that isnt canon, the colonel was possibly the founder of 50 blessings and the masks that those guys were wearing were the masks that you could've used in the first part.
+GraysonofEpic they're hobos squatting in 50 Blessings's nuclear fallout bunker. They mistake Evan for some kind of official that's there to kick them out. More thematically they're just Evan's fear of crime and poverty and investigating the 1989 killings. and no, they're not 50 Blessings agents themselves. they're squatters who have gotten into 50 Blessings' mask boxes. the game files refer to them as bunker hobos.
Okay, while I'm here, could anyone explain why the fuck all the masks from the first game were in that weird room in that weird old warehouse with random thugs ?
The building was formerly owned by 50 Blessings, they had to flee Miami because Jake brought unwanted attention to it. Before fleeing, they made a deal with homeless people to stay there.

"remember, no russian"
It's very hard to be pacifist on this level
dark galaxy yeah, but I apparently that didn’t stop me from S-ranking this on the Switch
Not really
Fandom Adventure
Please tell me I am not he only one that hears a bit of Sonic Colors Asteroid Coaster map music in this.
hell yes
Dont get angry.....DONT GET ANGRY.
So I recently went back to the game, remember I hadn't unlocked this level on Hard.
So I go back and do that.
I got an S on this level on hard on my first try, even though I hadn't played the game in a while at that point.
I felt like a badass for not only unlocking this first try but ALSO S ranking it. Actually forgot about this song completely, holy shit is it rad though.
i felt incredibly accomplished until i saw that the score cap is really low.
Hey guys ever met a speed runner well hey here I am i got this mission down with a S rank in about 7 minutes
finished this level after rage in withdrawal, and then in the end of The Abyss i got stuck in a wall and i couldn't see the outro.
;-;
*Evan atthe start of a lvl* : enjoy and have a safe fun :)
Pov:you just A+ ranked all the levels in the game
This song is a type of songs that "the more you look the worse it gets" in a good way
Masks from the first game
50 blessings moved since Jake went there
It was a bunker so they were prepared for the white house raid ending nuclear
They traded the bunker with criminals and hobos in exchange for favors
50 blessings and the low lifes survived the nukes,so did The Biker
Setup for Hotline Miami 3
Upset this isn't on spotify
we gettin out from the ruins of miami with this one🗣️🗣️🔥🔥💯💯
This song was playing in my head today in a funeral. Pretty cool experience...
The secret level was the last piece of the puzzle for the HLM2 lore
The implications for this level are pretty huge. Was it all Jake's death coma nightmare? Or was Evan originally intended to put a stop to everything? Nobody knows, but this is it boys, if you got here like I did the party is over. We'll never get anything from this franchise ever again.
50 blessings moved since Jake went there
They traded the place with hobos and lowlifes in exchange for favors
The place is a bunker meaning they were prepared for the white house raid ending nuclear
50 blessings had other bunkers meaning they survived the bombs
It's implied that The Biker also survived
Setup for Hotline Miami 3
This is only the beginning, of the end.
Our temperament is hanging by a loose thread with this one 🗣️🗣️🔥
4:20-4:50 Daaaamn
First time I did this level I got an S in pacifist mode. I think it was because of the music.
It make me feel like real badass.
underrated
This is the music when you understand that killing always was better than K.OS
I still think Whitehouse should have been an official secret level too
Fr imagine you think it's all over after the nuke goes off and it shows everyone dying but then the cassete rewinds and you hear the van crashing into the white house
thanks g man
This is the only level which I like to kill as Evan.
It's not even hard to nonlethal, it just requires a bit more patience than First Trial and Subway.
@@rooknizan2923 story wise. I think is easier when you disarm the enemies, but I like to kill them to so they cannot get away hiding in the bunker, nobody wins. I like to think the people wearing masks are the ones you encounter throughout the level
@@ELABNER2 That would make sense, if Abyss wasn't a dream sequence.
Real chads *don't let their anger get the best of them*
pyrocynical theme song
He needs to do a video on this game fr
@@VintilaAndrei fr... So much lore, top down, retro graphics, perfectly fits his video
Day tripper from beatles
I somehow S-ranked this level on my first try XD
Its actually easy. You just need Evan to stay calm and don't kill anyone
I made S on my first try in hard mode with killings, idk how
Really cool level and really cool music!
It's just a shame that unlocking it is about as fun as dragging your teeth across concrete
Lol i had no problems of unlocking it, the third floor on Withdrawal is easy
@@cooler_carpington yeah I beat it on my first playthrough. only on my second playthrough did I realize jake can perma die there
My face when this isn't on spotify: :(
This is like what plays on a bad ending.

So what's with the group of people you walk in on? Who are they??
if you played the first game, you would've known that that was 50 blessings, the organisation that jake, richter and the guy beard saved (jacket, the protagonist of hm1) were working for, jake knew too much and they killed him, but that isnt canon, the colonel was possibly the founder of 50 blessings and the masks that those guys were wearing were the masks that you could've used in the first part.
+GraysonofEpic they're hobos squatting in 50 Blessings's nuclear fallout bunker. They mistake Evan for some kind of official that's there to kick them out. More thematically they're just Evan's fear of crime and poverty and investigating the 1989 killings.
and no, they're not 50 Blessings agents themselves. they're squatters who have gotten into 50 Blessings' mask boxes. the game files refer to them as bunker hobos.
furries
This was my fist s rank i was so close to being in the top 500 :(
Okay, while I'm here, could anyone explain why the fuck all the masks from the first game were in that weird room in that weird old warehouse with random thugs ?
+sfeer none of this is real. Soon it will all be over
furries
The building was formerly owned by 50 Blessings, they had to flee Miami because Jake brought unwanted attention to it. Before fleeing, they made a deal with homeless people to stay there.
Do you like hurting other people, Doctor Freeman ?
1:31 why does this song have the fucking numa numa in it
There’s a Sega MegaDrive game with a very similar song to this and I can’t remember it
The only Evan level where I actually killed people
